Chapter 736: Playing the Long Game
*FWOOSH!*
The big black bull transformed into a reddish blur, its halberd wreathed in dark flames as it charged forward, aiming to slice Shye’s body in a brutal horizontal strike.
‘Crap!’ Shye cursed inwardly upon realizing that the Minotaur was now faster.
Although he was still able to dodge the blow by stepping back, it was now harder for him to sneak in a few counterattacks.
‘Appraisal!’
Shye knew that a passive skill must have been triggered, so he immediately utilized appraisal to check, focusing his attention on a certain portion that wasn’t there the first time he used the skill.
[Berserker] stacks: 3
‘Berserker?’ Shye mused as he dodged another blow, tapping on the skill to see its effects.

“Tch, so this bastard gets stronger the more damage it takes, huh?” he thought, narrowly dodging yet another attack.
This time, though, he found himself backed into a corner, his back pressed against the wall.
Still, the Minotaur’s agility and dexterity were still well within his capabilities to handle.
Hence, instead of complicating things further, Shye chose to focus on dodging for now, his mind racing as he strategized, piecing together the perfect plan on how he would take the Minoan creature down.
For three whole minutes, Shye showcased his immaculate footwork and inhuman reflexes, dodging halberd strike after halberd strike.
It didn’t matter whether the Minotaur used a skill or not, as the young Valenzian hero gracefully evaded everything.
In the next instant, Shye put his plan into action, activating a skill he rarely used.
‘Harrowing Aura!’
Shye then used appraisal once more, a confident smile spreading as he saw the [Fear] stacks accumulating.
Meanwhile, the Minotaur remained calm, relishing the fight—it had been decades since it had faced such a skilled human opponent.
“Hoh. Human, you’re quite skilled. Are you a hero?” the monster asked with an eerie smile, all while continuing its relentless onslaught of halberd strikes.
This time, Shye decided to talk to the monster, buying more time for his [Fear] stacks to accumulate.
“Yes, I am indeed a hero.” He answered, cleanly parrying a downward strike.
“Hoh, what a young hero…I can see that you’re an extremely talented one,” the Minotaur remarked. “It’s a pity that you’ll be perishing in my tomb and ending up in my belly. You shouldn’t have listened to those old coots from the WAA.”
“Heh, you’ll be the one ending up in my belly, oversized cow. I’ll be roasting your meat and seasoning it with good old salt and pepper after I slaughter you like the cattle you are.” Shye retorted sharply, prompting a smile from the Minoan creature.
“Hahaha! You’re a funny one, kid,” the monster laughed heartily. “I’ve slaughtered many of your kind—stronger and wiser than you—so what makes you think you’ll win when you can’t even recover from your disadvantageous position? How long will you keep running? I’m telling you now, at our current pace, I will never run out of stamina. You better come up with another plan, hahaha!”

“Hmph, you think I can’t wear you down? Let’s see about that, cow!”
Shye bought himself around ten minutes clowning around with the Minotaur, preventing it from realizing what his true plan was.
For the next forty minutes, he kept dodging, choosing not to engage in a conversation with the overgrown bull any further to conserve his energy.
Shye had always been adept at bamboozling his enemies, and the Minotaur was destined to end up the same as his previous ones.
A few moments later, Shye began “panting in exhaustion,” appearing to fade as his dodges grew sloppier and sloppier.
“Hahahaha! What’s the matter, human? I thought we were exhausting MY stamina reserves?” the Minoan creature mocked, its signature eerie smile spreading across its ugly face.
However, Shye didn’t reply, seemingly having no extra energy to do so.
“You’ve lasted quite a while against me, a general of the Black Dragon of Destruction. You can consider yourself extremely skilled and talented among your race!” the Minotaur continued. “Unfortunately, your road ends here.”
Meanwhile, Shye was inwardly celebrating.
He already knew long ago that he couldn’t exhaust the stamina reserves of the Minotaur.
Hence, he decided to just focus on his goal of taming the minotaur.
Shye had attempted to cast [Tame] on the Minoan creature several times.
However, it soon became clear that the effectiveness of [Tame] varied based on the creature’s nature and its current mental state, making it impossible to simply use the spell on it while it’s still full of vitality.
‘Ten more minutes…’ he thought inwardly, patiently biding his time before striking.
The highest number of [Fear] stacks that [Harrowing Aura] could impose on his opponents was five hundred.
Currently, he had 208 stacks on the Minotaur, meaning that in just over ten minutes, he would reach a total of 250 stacks.
Shye naturally did his best to feign weakness as he continuously dodged, hoping that this would allow him to catch the Minoan Warlord off-guard.
Time marched on, and before long, the Minotaur’s appraisal window displayed a total of 250 stacks of [Fear].
“Now it’s my turn, you darned cow!” Shye suddenly exclaimed, confusing the Minoan Warlord.
However, before the Minotaur could taunt him for being delusional, a terrifying roar echoed through the room, as if it had emerged from the depths of hell.
Almost instantly, Shye transformed into the most terrifying creature the Minotaur had ever seen, prompting it to roar in pure terror for the first time in its life.
The [Fallen’s Howl] not only significantly boosted Shye’s attributes but also doubled the [Fear] stacks affecting the Minotaur.
Translucent black mana wings then sprouted from Shye’s back, greatly enhancing his mobility.
In the next instant, with a single flap of his wings, he swung both of his greatswords at the momentarily terrified and fleeing Minotaur, a chillingly silent dark purple sheen glinting along the edges of Darky and Murky’s blades.
‘Nightfall Reaper! Boost! Boost! Boost!’
