Chapter 747: Did I Win?
Three months quickly passed from when Shirley, Wendy, and Elysia were inaugurated as heroes.
Since then, the three had completed two mandatory missions each, while Seira and the others focused on training their attributes, improving their combat techniques, and raising their adventurer ranks.
“Shirley, we’re close to our destination, stay vigilant!” Shye warned, immediately shifting gears to combat mode.
He, too, was happy with the mission.
After all, rarely did the two of them have time for each other even though they lived under the same roof.
This was why Shye treated the mission more like a date since it was a bit too easy for him.
Their mission was to raid a den of drakes.
To other adventurers and perhaps even to the three titled adventurers of their region, such a mission could be considered dangerous.
Although their targets, a flight of seven to ten Rock Drakes, were merely (S-) ranked monsters, the creatures were both tough and crazy strong.
It would be extremely difficult for Midnight Fang, Radiant Sentinel, and Piercing Zephyr, to complete such a quest.
Especially since Frozen End was now out of their roster.
She was, after all, their strongest damage dealer.
Without her, it would take them way more time than usual to take down a single drake.
This, in turn, would significantly increase the chances of them being injured, or even dying.
This was why Belford entrusted the mission to Shye, believing that there was no need to risk the lives of the veterans now, unlike in the past, wherein every mission was both a battle for the titled adventurers’ lives and the safety of the region’s inhabitants.
For Shye, the drakes weren’t a problem at all, as he could easily slaughter the draconians.
Their scales were tough for the titled adventurers.
However, to him, his greatswords, and his elemental staffs, they were nothing but paper armor.
He also had the option of allowing Zeth to help him, further decreasing the difficulty of the already easy task.
However, Shye had other plans following this mission, so he was intent on completing it swiftly, even though he wouldn’t report his completion early to give himself time to do what he needed to.
As a hero, the WAA monitored nearly all of their movements.
The only opportunity he had to carry out his Hadean Varsa duties was during missions.
After all, if he claimed it took three weeks to finish eliminating the drakes, who could argue otherwise?
After a few more minutes of cautious advancement, Shye’s [Mana Pulse] detected the rock drake assigned as the lookout.
If not for his skill, they would’ve been the ones discovered first for sure.
The rock drake, slightly smaller than its species’ standard size, was concealed within dense foliage, its sharp claws gripping firmly into the thick trunk of the massive tree.
It resembled a hybrid of a dragon and a lizard.
Its head, body, tail, and claws were those of a dragon, but it clung to the tree upside down like a lizard, and it had no wings.
However, the creature could glide, thanks to the large expanses of scale- and feather-covered skin stretching between its front and hind legs.
Its eyes blinked periodically as it turned 180 degrees in all directions, scanning for potential prey or intruders.

“Shirley, don’t move—a lookout drake is watching the area,” Shye said, pulling Shirley into the nearby shrubbery and hiding with her.
He then pointed to the spot where the lookout rock drake was camouflaged.
Upon spotting the enemy, Shirley’s eyes narrowed, inwardly impressed by her lover’s abilities.
This was her first time accompanying him on such a high-difficulty mission, like eradicating an entire den of drakes.
This was Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn in action.
“What should we do?” Shirley asked.
Although her stealth tactics had improved significantly after completing the Thunder Dragon Emperor investigation mission, she wasn’t confident she could get close to the drake without being detected.
After all, observing from a distance and taking out the lookout were two entirely different challenges.
The latter was way harder to accomplish despite their target being significantly weaker.
“Don’t worry,” Shye said with a playful grin, patting his chest in an exaggerated show of confidence. “I, Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn, will take out that drake to impress milady!”
Shirley couldn’t help but giggle at his silly antics.
She was probably the only one in the world, aside from Maia, who got to see this side of Shye, and she was delighted at the thought of it.
“Hahaha, fine then,” Shirley replied with a smile. “Show me what you’ve got. If I’m impressed, maybe you’ll earn a reward from me after the mission.”
She winked at her lover with a playful, seductive grin.
Shye, fueled by her words, was more determined than ever to take out the drake as efficiently as possible, excited to earn some sexy time for himself.
If anyone else witnessed their flirting in the midst of a perilous mission, they’d probably be pulling their hair out in frustration, cringing at the lovers’ antics.
With a determined grin, Shye donned the Hadean Varsa Commander Mask, concealing his aura from the lookout drake.
He then activated his sole stealth skill, [Superior Stealth Lv.3], earned from the Heroes’ Banquet bets, and began his operation.
Seeing Shye disappear right in front of her as though a scout, Shirley was taken aback.
However, she then remembered that her lover had the system.
Who knows how many skills he had?
Hence, she decided to focus on the drake instead, watching and waiting for its demise.
Judging from how the drake didn’t sense anything wrong despite Shye disappearing for more than three minutes now, Shirley knew it was only a matter of time before the monster died.
As expected, within the next few seconds, the lookout drake’s head was severed from its body, which remained attached to the trunk despite the creature’s death.
The drake never even realized it had already met its end.
Shirley was naturally impressed, but she never expected to hear her lover’s voice beside her a moment later, nearly making her jump in a mix of surprise and shock.
“So? Did I win a prize?”
