Chapter 750: The Danger
The little necrollin seized the opportunity to impress Shirley further, smoothly maneuvering forty-five of the corpses and positioning them at the forefront of its small army of colossal creatures.
It then placed the remaining five, which it still struggled to control, behind the formation, out of Shirley’s sight.
The strategy paid off, as Shirley’s mouth hung adorably open the entire time, her body twisting left and right to take in the sight of the enormous corpses.
“Bloodskin Ogre!”
“Stygian Garuda!”
“Oh, that’s a…”
She kept exclaiming the names of the creatures that impressed her, recognizing that these monsters were at the top of the food chain and would pose a significant challenge in a duel, even with the enhancements provided by the Valenzian Hero Crest.
Shye naturally enjoyed her reaction for a while, until he remembered something important.
“Oh, right, Nookie,” Shye called out, catching the attention of the show-off necrollin. “Have you noticed anything strange in this death zone?”
“Uki? Strange? I don’t think so…” Nookie replied, appearing deep in thought.
Suddenly, it gasped.
“Oh! Now that I think about it, the number of monsters in the death zone has dwindled strangely as of late,” the little necrollin continued. “Sigh… It’s becoming hard for me to even find (S)-ranked monsters these days, as they seem to have abandoned their domains one by one. It’s becoming troublesome for me to train here, master…”
A peculiar expression crossed Shye’s face at Nookie’s words.
It appeared that there was no danger to his tamed monster at all—because IT WAS the danger.
‘This little scoundrel… making me worry for nothing…’ Shye thought to himself. ‘How could those damned monsters not flee the zone when an army of (S-) and (S) ranked creatures is marching through their domains, hunting them down…?’
Nevertheless, Shye was impressed to discover that Nookie had become the undisputed overlord of the Varca Death Zone, though it appeared oblivious to this fact.
“Ahh, that’s a real bummer…” he replied, letting out a dramatic sigh. “Well, after this meal, come with us. It’s time for you to switch to a more dangerous death zone outside the region for your training…”
“Ukii!!” the little necrollin exclaimed in utter glee. “Thank you, master! I would prefer a more challenging and perilous death zone!”
“Here, take some meat,” Shye said, offering a piece of roasted boar to Nookie. The moment he did, the corpse puppets froze in place as the puppeteer made a frantic dash toward the mouth-watering roast.
“By the way, Nookie,” he added, “I’m planning to take you to an extremely vast and dangerous death zone outside the region, near the borders of Yon Augenn and the wastelands.”
“The adventurers there are stronger and more numerous than the ones here. Moreover, the monsters in that region are far deadlier than those in the Varca Death Zone, capable of commanding an army of underlings on par with, or even stronger than yours. Do you think you can survive there? There’s no shame in saying no—I just want to find the best training ground for you. Also, you’re an important part of my team, and I can’t allow you to die due to a careless and stupid mistake.”
Nookie felt moved by the genuine concern in its master’s voice. Hence, it answered truthfully, pondering deeply for a few moments before doing so.
“Hmm… it could be a bit challenging. But if you drop me off in a suitable spot, I could probably manage just fine. After all, I should be smarter than most of the creatures even in a place like that…”
Shye nodded upon hearing the little necrollin’s words.
He, too, believed that Nookie would be able to thrive just fine against its fellow monstrous creatures.
The problem was the adventurers frequenting the zones.
In Shye’s opinion, humans were the most dangerous of all the creatures the little necrollin would face.
Not only were they more cunning than most creatures, but many of them were also greedy and vengeful.
Even if Nookie managed to defend himself once against adventurers, they would surely return in greater numbers next time, armed with a detailed plan and various effective hunting tools.
Surviving an attack from prepared humans would be extremely difficult for the little necrollin.

“What do you plan to do against adventurers, though?” Shye followed up with another question.
“Ukii… I was hoping you wouldn’t ask, master,” Nookie said, looking embarrassed. “W-Well, adventurers are more dangerous than dragons, so I’d prefer to avoid them. But don’t worry, master. I’ve captured a special corpse puppet to ensure my safety against humans. Behold, this little one’s name is Mikki.”
A small void container then appeared in front of the little necrollin, standing only two feet tall.
The next moment, the void container’s purple translucent lid fell forward, disintegrating into purple mana particles and revealing a small black bird with a small red hat, looking extremely dumb.
The bird was an extremely famous (B) ranked monster, so there was no need for Shye to use appraisal on it.
Even Shirley knew what the black bird with a hat was.
“Omniscient Raven!” the couple exclaimed in unison.
Although the bird was only as dangerous as an (E) ranked monster in terms of deadliness, it was ranked (B) due to its insanely high intelligence, wisdom, and agility—attributes on par with even (S) ranked monsters.
This made the Omniscient Raven extremely difficult, if not outright impossible, to catch, especially since it was extremely cautious.
Furthermore, the bird would prefer to self-destruct rather than be eaten by other monsters or captured by humans.
This was why Shye and Shirley were astonished that Nookie had managed to turn one into a corpse puppet with its body still intact.
“It’s impressive that you were able to catch one, Nookie, well done!” Shye generously praised.
This small black bird would be a huge boon to Hadean Varsa in the upcoming war.
After all, the Omniscient Raven was a creature specialized in detecting enemies, even those concealed within spatial or void pockets or using powerful items and advanced concealment skills.
Furthermore, its extensive detection range only added to the difficulty of capturing one.
Shye could only imagine the intense effort and meticulous preparation Nookie must have put in to capture this one with its body intact.
