Another day quickly passed.

After hearing everything he needed from the informant, Shye’s group of four continued traveling toward the Throgon Death Zone.

Now, they were inside the zone, heading towards the first potential training campsite for Nookie.

Shye couldn’t just leave the little necrollin on his own, as doing so might result in its death.

It would be better for him to check the potential sites himself.

The group entered from the southern entrance, which was the one closest to Leafnsburg—the city where they gathered the zone intel.

From there, they headed west, towards the area where one of the overlord candidates’ domains was located.

From the information provided by the informant, Shye identified several promising locations for Nookie to set up his camp.

The most advantageous spot was within the domain of the overlord candidate, the Devil Spider, as it was positioned near the wastelands, an area with scarce resources.

This meant that other overlords would have little interest in venturing into the Devil Spider’s territory, as there was nothing of value to be gained there.

Upon arriving, Shye and Zeth immediately tried to help Nookie locate the overlord candidate, hoping to help the little necrollin add the monster to its collection of corpse puppets before leaving it to its own devices.

Unfortunately, despite wasting an entire day locating the spider, they couldn’t find it.

It seemed that the darned overlord candidate had no pride whatsoever, opting to instead hide from Shye and Zeth.

Due to this, they decided to leave the domain, as it would be unwise to leave Nookie alone against such a cunning monster.

To Shye, it was always easier fighting against a strong but dumb opponent than an average yet cunning one.

Moreover, his trauma from being captured by the Mist Spider’s net in the past was still quite fresh in his mind, so he didn’t feel comfortable leaving his tamed monster in a damned arachnid territory.

The group inspected the domains of other overlord candidates in the southwestern region of the Throgon Death Zone.

However, due to various challenges—including the absence of a clean water source, an extremely toxic environment, and a few additional factors—they ultimately had to abandon the areas.

“Sigh…is there really no choice but to take down an overlord?” Shye sighed.

If he had more time, he could have taken Nookie to a different part of the Throgon Death Zone.

Unfortunately, time was not on their side, so they had no choice but to settle in the southwestern zone.

They were near the territory of the Stygian Manticore, who led a force of one hundred and fifty Fire Mane Pumas.

Although these underlings were ranked between (A) and (S-), their sheer number posed a significant challenge.

If the manticore decided to attack, eliminating them all would be difficult without a way to take out more than half of the pumas in a single, powerful strike.

Nonetheless, the manticore’s domain was their last option.

Shye could only think of a solution to the Puma army as they walked towards their destination.

Luckily, he was able to think of one.

When Shye’s group arrived at the Stygian Manticore’s domain, they were met by the puma army, wherein more than half of the creatures were spread across various rocky formations, with some lounging and yawning lazily.

“Let’s begin the plan, Shirley.”

There was a huge cave entrance just behind the puma army, which was highly likely the dwelling place of the overlord.

With long, confident strides, Shye approached the puma army, quickly drawing the attention of the two-meter-tall flaming feline beasts, who hissed and growled at him in anger.

Those perched on the rocky formations leaped down to join their comrades, forming a unified front as roughly a hundred pumas advanced toward him in unison.

Seeing this, Shye smiled and raised Darky into the air, signaling Shirley to commence the puma-clearing operation.

With a single hand seal, Shirley drove her katana into the ground, summoning a thousand glowing orbs above the puma army.

Moments later, the orbs transformed into golden light swords.

“Ode of a Thousand Swords!” She exclaimed.

However, before the swords descended upon the Fire Mane Puma army, Shye summoned his doppelganger and commanded it to use all three charges of its [Boost] skill to amplify Shirley’s ability, causing the number of golden light swords to surge from one thousand to four thousand.

The overwhelming sight made the pumas retreat in utter horror.

Unfortunately for the monsters, it was too late as all four thousand golden light swords began to rain down upon them, embedding deeply into their fiery bodies.

With no chance for them to survive, all one hundred pumas were wiped out, leaving only fifty more guarding the entrance of the Stygian Manticore’s cave.

Only, after such a huge commotion, it was inevitable that the overlord would take notice.

*ROAR!!*

A furious roar resounded from the cave, causing Shye’s eyes to narrow as he awaited the manticore to emerge from its lair.

Meanwhile, the little necrollin was already performing hand seals, slamming both its palms to the ground.

“EDUARDO TENSEI!!”

Forty-five void containers then emerged from the dark purple magic circles on the ground, revealing horrifying monsters way larger and stronger than the pumas.

It was time for Nookie and his army to take the stage.

Shye would, of course, offer assistance to the little necrollin if needed, especially if it appeared to be losing more corpse puppets than necessary.

However, for the time being, he would let Nookie handle the conflict with the overlord and claim the manticore’s domain for itself with its own hands.

The clever little necrollin eagerly appreciated the opportunity its master had given it and was excited to take down the manticore, ready to add it to its growing corpse puppet collection.

“Go, Nookie! Show me what you got!”

In the next moment, the overlord emerged from its lair, followed by fifty remaining Fire Mane Pumas.

On the opposite side was a scrawny necrollin, hovering above fifty towering corpse puppets as it looked down on the overlord as though a god.

“Oversized feline, I shall claim your throne.”
