Chapter 755: Puppet Army Versus Fire Dragon Army
A massive red meteor plummeted toward the earth, on a collision course with a rising red star that appeared to have been fired from the most powerful of artillery.

The Fire Dragon Emperor and the Stygian Manticore unleashed deafening roars as they charged at each other, pushing Nookie into the background, though the little necrollin much preferred the situation.

It could risk the destruction of its corpse puppets for a chance to add an overlord-level one to its collection.

However, why should it do so if not necessary?

Nookie was all too happy to watch on as the two overlords attempted to rip each other’s throats apart.

The ascending manticore sank its jaws into the Fire Dragon Emperor’s left arm, sending shattered scales flying and causing the emperor’s fiery blood to rain down onto the ground.

Meanwhile, the Stygian Manticore’s broken shoulder bone was crushed as the Fire Dragon Emperor’s claws tore into its flesh, ripping it apart and completely shattering the bone.

The clash resulted in both overlords crashing to the ground, generating thick clouds of dust that obscured everyone’s vision.

Shye instructed Nookie, Zeth, and Shirley to handle the fourteen fire dragons circling overhead, while he unsheathed both of his greatswords to assist them.

Only, he never could have expected that his familiar would choose to disobey him now of all times.

Zeth suddenly charged in the direction of the flying pegasus, pursuing the pristine-white mythical steed with an aura of bloodlust.

It seemed that the duchess was extremely eager to kill the pegasus.

Of course, Zeth’s actions gave Shye a headache, putting him between a rock and a hard place.

He couldn’t leave Nookie alone to face two emperors.

He also found it uncomfortable to leave Shirley with Nookie, letting them handle the emperors and the fire dragon army on their own.

However, at the same time, he was worried about Zeth.

After all, while the duchess was indeed an extremely strong familiar, the pegasus was a mythical creature.

Meanwhile, enormous fireballs rained upon Nookie, Shirley, the doppelganger, and the puppet army, aiming to obliterate them to mere ashes.

The fourteen fire dragons had begun their attacks.

Just a single fire dragon would be enough to instill fear in the hearts of even the most experienced of adamantite adventurer parties.

Hence, one could only imagine the destruction fourteen such creatures could do.

They were quite lucky that the Fire Dragon Emperor didn’t bring all of its troops. Otherwise, Shirley and Nookie would have to deal with a much more horrifying force.

Nookie swiftly commanded the Wood Titan to retreat to their side and summon a thick green barrier that covered a small area, proceeding to control a few more of its corpse puppets and making them use their defensive skills.

Still, knowing their defenses were insufficient to withstand fourteen [Draconic Fireballs], it gritted its teeth, bracing to lose some of its beloved puppets.

Fortunately for the little necrollin, the doppelganger was present.

It suddenly sprang forward, intercepting the four remaining fireballs that were out of range of the defensive barriers, seemingly sacrificing itself for them.

“S-Shye?! B-But I thought you…”

“Uki?! Master! What are you doing? How are you here?!”

Since the Ravenous Doppelganger had been hiding behind a huge rock earlier, Nookie and Shirley hadn’t noticed its presence, leaving them extremely confused.

In the next moment, it fired two enormous half-moon slash marks, each targeting one of the approaching fireballs.

Witnessing this, Shirley didn’t hesitate and launched her own half-moon slashes.

However, knowing that her attack wasn’t as strong as Shye’s, she aimed both slashes at a single fireball, allowing the other to continue its fiery descent like a meteor.

Luckily, Nookie was quick-witted.

It swiftly commanded its ranged corpse puppets to fire blasts and rays at the final fireball, completely obliterating it.

Soon after, the four slash marks collided with three of the draconic fireballs, while the barriers somehow managed to hold against the terrifying rain of flaming balls.

It was a magnificent defense.

Naturally, every skill has a cooldown, and the fire dragons were no exception.

They wouldn’t be able to launch such a coordinated attack again for a while.

It was time for a counterattack!

Nookie quickly ordered all of its creatures to attack the fire dragons, with around three to four creatures ganging up on a single dragon.

Meanwhile, Shirley quickly finished off a fire dragon with the help of her [Nightfall Reaper], inflicting an extremely grievous wound on it with a single hit, causing its head to almost fall off.

Nonetheless, the heavily injured dragon plummeted to the ground, incapacitated.

It was certainly out of the battle and its death was only a matter of time.

The Doppelganger followed suit, swiftly taking down one of the dragons in a single strike with its [Nightfall Reaper].

Thanks to the doppelganger having Shye’s strength attribute, the dragon’s head was cleanly severed, killing it instantly.

The Ravenous Doppelganger then unleashed its other trump card, the [Ninth Devastation Ray], though the skill only managed to severely wound the target dragon, as the doppelganger lacked Shye’s ability to switch weapons.

Forced to channel the mage skill through its greatswords, the damage output was significantly weaker.

Nonetheless, Shirley and the doppelganger managed to kill two fire dragons instantly and heavily wound another, weakening the Fire Dragon Emperor’s army and significantly easing the pressure on Nookie’s corpse puppets.

Meanwhile, as the battle between the puppet army and the fire dragon army raged on, Zeth finally caught up to the pegasus and launched a blue fireball at the flying white stallion.

This forced the mythical creature to finally look at its pursuer, its eyes widening in utter shock and disbelief.
