Chapter 761: Pies from the Sky
“Sigh, I guess this is fine as well…” Shye sighed in slight regret as he looked at Firindroth’s corpse. “This way, both Zeth and Nookie would benefit…”
He truly wanted to have a Dragon Emperor to lead his grand dragon army in the future.
Unfortunately, it seemed that such a thing would be extremely difficult, as Dragon Emperors would rather die than submit to a human.
Soon after, Shirley and Nookie joined Shye, Aemorus, and Zeth, riding on the little necrollin’s new favorite corpse puppet—the Stygian Manticore.
After all, it was the corpse of an apex (S)-ranked monstrous creature and possessed significant strength.
Controlling it was quite a challenge for Nookie, though, as each of the overlord’s limbs was muscular and heavy.
Had the little necrollin managed to take control of the Stygian Manticore’s corpse on time, it might have been capable of defending itself against the Fire Dragon Emperor.
Nonetheless, Nookie was extremely happy to obtain such a puppet, forgetting its previous losses of weaker corpses due to such a pleasant addition.
Of course, upon seeing the Firindroth’s corpse, it went wild in utter delight, quickly dashing over to its master.
“M-M-Master Shye, c-c-can little Nookie use the corpse of the F-F-Fire Dragon Emperor? Can I add it to my collection? Please, Master Shye! You have to let me have this corpse! I promise I’ll deliver impressive results if I’m given the chance!”
Shye inwardly chuckled upon seeing the frenzied state of the Necrollin Master Puppeteer.
‘Hahaha! This little guy really loves corpses…’
Naturally, the corpse would go to Nookie, as there was no one else who could control it other than the little necrollin.
“Of course, I grant you the Fire Dragon Emperor’s corpse for a job well done of holding your own against the Fire Dragon army.” Shye declared with a smile, causing Nookie to jump up and down in joy.
Ever since it evolved into a master puppeteer, the little imp had become quite scholarly, and its childlike celebrations had been a rare sight for Shye.
Seeing Nookie jump up and down in pure delight naturally lifted Shye’s already exuberant mood.
The next moment, the little necrollin began injecting its void-attribute mana strings into Firindroth’s corpse, causing it to twitch from time to time.
In a few more minutes, Nookie would be able to control the corpse as though it were alive.
Shye momentarily left the little imp to its own devices, turning his attention to Aemorus.
“Aemorus, I know this is quite a thick-faced request. However, I want to reward Zeth with an overlord core. Can I give her the Stygian Manticore’s? You may have Firindroth’s core since you’re the one who killed him.” Shye requested, slightly embarrassed.
After all, it was Firindroth who killed the Stygian Manticore, while it was Aemorus who killed Firindroth.
He felt that it wouldn’t be excessive even if the white stallion took both cores for himself.
He already got the overlords’ corpses and gave them to Nookie anyway.
However, he of course wanted to reward Zeth as well, especially for bringing a reliable ally for him.
“Ahh, do not worry, Shye Crowley,” Aemorus began. “It is I who am indebted to you for bringing my beloved into this world, allowing me to reunite with her at last. Additionally, I wish to gift her something, and I’ve decided to give both overlord cores to her. Lastly, I… have a request.”
Shye was pleasantly surprised upon hearing the Pegasus’ reply, and he couldn’t help but feel that, after bullshitting with him for quite a while, the gods and goddesses of fate and luck finally smiled upon him.
“I offer my sincerest gratitude, Aemorus! I’m truly glad we met under these circumstances,” Shye replied with a smile. “What is your request? If I have the power to grant it, I will do so without hesitation.”
The white stallion had long realized that Shye was a good-natured human, causing him to inwardly feel happy and relieved for his beloved.
However, despite this, he still wanted to personally watch over Zeth’s safety and be there for her through thick and thin.
He desperately wanted to prove to the duchess that he didn’t leave her because he was afraid of fighting the eight spirit kings.

“Is there any way I could join your group? I’m aware that human laws would prevent me from entering cities with my beloved, but if you know of a way for me to do so, I’m willing to do whatever it takes.”
Shye was dumbfounded for a few seconds upon hearing Aemorus’ request.
Free pies falling from the sky? Naturally, he would happily take those all day!
“Sigh…judging from your reaction, it wouldn’t be that easy, huh?” Aemorus sighed in regret.
He longed to accompany his beloved wherever she went, but if that wasn’t possible, he would settle for staying as close to her as he could, regardless of the danger.
“N-No, sorry, I’m just surprised,” Shye explained. “It would be simple, but you’d need to be someone’s tamed monster or familiar spirit. Since you’re in this world, the only option would be to become the former…”
Shye didn’t get his hopes up much, thinking that Aemorus would find it difficult to accept being a tamed monster.
After all, the Pegasus was a mythical creature, and it naturally carried the pride of being an apex monster in this world.
It had even defeated the Fire Dragon Emperor with such dominance.
“Hoh! Then let’s do that! Since humans have short lifespans, I would be willing to serve under one if it meant I could be with my dear Zeth, even inside human cities!” Aemorus replied with enthusiasm, causing Shye to momentarily lose his wits once more.
‘That easy?’ was the thought in his mind.
“W-Well, if you’re willing… However, I have a request as well. Just as I would watch over your beloved, would you be willing to watch over mine? This would mean there might be times when you’d be away from Zeth, though…” Shye asked after recollecting himself.
“Hmmm…” Aemorus pondered. “Well, if each parting is less than five years, then I would be willing. Any longer than that, and I would have to refuse…”
The white stallion reasoned that, since he had already waited for a century and a half, five years apart every now and then would be no trouble at all.
“W-What? Five years… No, it would only be a few months at most…” Shye replied, realizing that the concept of a “short time” meant something very different to a human like him and a mythical creature like Aemorus.
“Hmm? A few months?” the white stallion asked, visibly pleased by what he heard. “I accept, Shye Crowley! I, Aemorus, will loyally serve your beloved until her last breath!”
