Chapter 762: Aghanim’s God-Forsaken Creations
Inside a vast, underground stone chamber with a high ceiling, slow footsteps sounded.
“Lord Dweezel, welcome to the Hawkins Soul Research Facility. We’ve been expecting you.” said a bespectacled, brown-haired man with a scholarly physique and a lazy but eerie grin on his face.
“Aghanim, have you completed the task I gave you?” Dweezel asked in a cold tone, seemingly dissatisfied with his research facility’s head researcher, Aghanim Grull.
The golden sun hero’s dissatisfaction wasn’t unfounded, as the head researcher was, although undoubtedly talented, a bit lazy.
“Uh…” Aghanim hesitated, scratching his cheek awkwardly. “W-Well, I’ve already resolved the final issue with the soul weapons. You’ll just need to wait two more weeks for the facility to be ready for mass production,”
Upon hearing the head researcher’s reply, Dweezel fumed inwardly.
However, upon remembering that he couldn’t afford to lose the head researcher, the retired golden sun hero took a deep breath to control his raging emotions.
“Fine, I shall give you two more weeks. Any longer than that, and you will face punishment,” Dweezel responded patiently. “I want to at least see the completed weapon.”
“Ah, right this way, Lord Dweezel.”
Aghanim knew he had truly messed up this time, so he was relieved that his talents had saved him once again. He resolved not to delay the retired Golden Sun hero’s projects any further.
Over the next two weeks, the head researcher planned to focus on mass-producing the completed soul weapon.
After a few minutes of walking, Dweezel and Aghanim reached a dimly lit metal room, illuminated solely by the purple glow of a few unusual substances.
However, the center of the vast metal room was brightly lit, showcasing a tan-skinned, black-haired man with a vacant expression in his eyes, standing motionless like a statue.
Dweezel’s eyes narrowed at the sight.
“This is the soul weapon?” He asked, circling the blank-eyed man.
“Yes, Lord Dweezel,” Aghanim confirmed. “We experimented with creating soul armaments, but they proved inefficient when wielded by those lacking strength. So, we chose to merge the human and the soul armament into one. This final creation is known as a Soul Warrior.”
“Hohoh, a Soul Warrior, huh?” the retired golden sun hero responded satisfactorily, a smile finally gracing his old face.
What he had originally requested were literal weapons that would instantly empower their wielders by consuming their souls, allowing even the weakest children to fight on par with adamantite-ranked adventurers.
Fully grown men, on the other hand, would naturally become even stronger, potentially reaching the level of elite terrorist officers or commanders.
However, the research immediately encountered a problem.
The issue was that even fully grown men would have their souls consumed by the weapons within just an hour, making this approach unsustainable, especially since creating each weapon was costly, and having wielders who could only last an hour made it an extremely impractical solution.
Furthermore, test results were disappointing, as the human test subjects could still be defeated by a skilled and composed terrorist with moderate effort.
This meant that terrorist organizations could potentially reclaim the soul weapons and use Dweezel’s resources to bolster their power.
It would be a case of him being caught in his own trap should he proceed stubbornly with such an idea.
Only, the terrorist organizations had been active as of late, leaving Dweezel no choice but to leave everything to Aghanim.
Fortunately, his head researcher, albeit way lazier than preferred, didn’t fail his trust.
He could already tell that the soul weapon was way better than he expected.
“Yes, Lord Dweezel. This is called a Soul Warrior,” Aghanim declared proudly, his smile bordering on madness. “The most cost-effective and optimal solution was to use the bodies of platinum-ranked adventurers and enhance them with a substance I created, called Soulite Liquid.”
“The Soulite Liquid significantly boosts the resistance of each human soul, granting the Soul Warrior up to four hours of operational time. Additionally, as long as the soul isn’t completely drained by the weapon each Soul Warrior carries, the human soul will regenerate on its own with the help of the liquid. The only side effect is that their memories are progressively wiped with each recharge, impairing their clarity of thought. However, this is offset by the enhanced killing instincts induced by another substance, Bloodshiver, making them the perfect tools for slaughter!”
This time, Dweezel couldn’t help but laugh heartily.

This head researcher of his was truly a once-in-a-millenia genius!
Moreover, Aghanim lacked the reservations that others had, fully embracing the dark mysteries of Soul Arts without hesitation, using them on anyone without the restraint of conscience to advance his skills and research.
Truly the epitome of a mad researcher!
“Well done, Aghanim!” the golden sun hero generously complimented.
If his head researcher could deliver results like this every time, then he could tolerate his occasional procrastination.
“Well then, what is the individual cost of each Soul Warrior? Also, how long does it take to make one?” Dweezel followed-up.
“Ahh, in terms of gold coins, each Soul Warrior costs around fifty to seventy thousand gold coins to manufacture, depending on how easy the operations on abducting platinum-ranked adventurers go,” Aghanim explained, adjusting his glasses.
“Hmm…does this include the cost of appropriate doses of Bloodshiver and Soulite Liquid?”
“Yes, Lord Dweezel. After all, Bloodshiver can be cheaply produced using the blood and souls of fierce monstrous creatures, while Soulite Liquid, though more difficult to create due to the need for human blood, refined memories, and human souls, can still be produced in large quantities at a low cost as long as we use fully-grown adult males.”
Upon hearing Aghanim spout such blood-curdling words with a casual smile on his face, Dweezel couldn’t help but slightly shiver inwardly.
Even he, a man ruthless enough to put his interests above everything else, wouldn’t dare claim he could be as heartless as his head researcher.
The bastard truly fitted the title of the devil incarnate far more than him.
“As for the production time for each Soul Warrior, with our state-of-the-art facilities, we can produce ten every three days. By the two-week deadline you gave me, there will be at least forty-five of these warriors ready.”
Dweezel was naturally satisfied with what he heard, hence leaving the Soul Research Facility with a smile.
“Very well, Aghanim. If these god-forsaken creations of yours prove as capable as you claim, I will reward you with whatever you desire. I will return in two weeks.”
