Chapter 789: A Sudden, Unbelievable Message
Shye checked the soul-tracking device whenever he had the chance.
Then, realizing that he was almost standing right next to the blinking red dot on the tracker, Shye carefully looked around.
‘The entrance is probably located in one of these buildings…’ he mused.
There was nothing except the normal hustle and bustle of everyday life on the street he was on, and there wasn’t anything particularly strange going on.
This implied that one of the establishments served as a front for the entrance to Dweezel’s main headquarters.
‘Which one, though?’
Shye was initially puzzled about why Dweezel had chosen Yon Augenn City as the location for his headquarters.
After all, while the WAA had granted the old snake permission to form his own personal guard unit due to his contributions in the past, the size of his private army was limited to just five hundred men.
He was not allowed to exceed that number.
These five hundred soldiers, now known as the Hawkin Guards, were stationed prominently in the Hawkin Mansion, guarding the retired old hero.
For someone as ambitious as Dweezel, however, five hundred men were far from enough to allow him to achieve his goals of immortality and world domination, which is why he created his own clandestine private force.
This force naturally remained a secret to the WAA, as the ever-sharp Head Director Hale Eversong would question him and force him to disband his private army should the WAA know of its existence.
In addition to this, conducting research on soul arts within the city would be extremely challenging for Dweezel, even if done in a secret underground base.
However, upon further reflection, Shye realized that Dweezel’s plan was remarkably clever.
All the old bastard needed to do was ensure that the strings he could pull within the WAA remained intact for the existence of his organization to remain hidden, and the WAA would essentially serve as an additional layer of protection for him, his researchers, his army, and his main headquarters.
After all, how could terrorist organizations raid or even infiltrate a heavily defended city like Yon Augenn, where elite adamantite-level adventurers were abundant?
It was simply impossible for Sanada to even arrive at the entrance of Dweezel’s headquarters without losing almost all of his men.
Shye’s expression turned grim at the thought, shaking his head the next moment to force himself out of his grim musings.
‘I need to focus on tracking Kiin and the others for now and finding a way to get them out of here…’
Wendy was currently right beside Dweezel Hawkins, and there was no way in hell their attempt would succeed.
After all, if reaching the old snake was so easy, then Sanada would have annihilated the guy long ago.
Observing the surroundings, Shye noticed a man discreetly looking around and circling a certain five-story wrobblestone building before entering it.
He was accustomed to such actions, as he always performed them himself before entering the smaller Hadean Varsa secret establishment where he and Reginald regularly met.
Hence, after secretly following the guy, Shye easily found the establishment he was looking for.
Unfortunately, it was a “reservations-only” restaurant. Getting in without causing a fuss wouldn’t be easy.
After all, he didn’t have a reservation, and making one now was impossible, as a sign outside clearly stated that bookings must be made a day in advance.
Shye temporarily moved along while secretly looking for other members of Dweezel’s organization.
He immediately thought of a plan, though there was quite a fair chance that it wouldn’t work out.
However, left with no other choice, what else could he do but attempt it?
As Shye walked and glanced around, a thought struck him: How had his friends managed to get into the establishment?

Unexpectedly, he didn’t have to wait long for an answer.
Moments later, his Hadean Varsa mana communicator vibrated, indicating he received a message from one of the members of the terrorist organization.
Almost at the same time, Shye found a target.
However, since he knew that the guy would take his time to observe his surroundings before entering, he decided to open the message first and read it.
As soon as Shye realized who the message was from, his eyes nearly popped out in shock and disbelief.
He quickly opened the message to read its contents and verify if it was real.
As he read the contents of the message, his eyes widened even more, and his worries shifted from one person to another—more specifically, to a group of people.
The next moment, the hesitation in Shye’s heart vanished into thin smoke, quickly springing into action.
With a determined gaze, he headed towards a small alley that the circling Hawkin member would inevitably pass through.
Shye waited patiently for the guy to arrive while concealing his presence.
Meanwhile, he retrieved two devices from the system’s inventory—items he had specifically requested from the old man for situations like this—and began setting them up in preparation for the Hawkin member’s arrival.
A few moments later, his target arrived.
Upon stepping on the trigger point of his assassination traps—a combination of illusion and sound suppression devices—a transparent dome enveloped the black-haired, slim Hawkin member.
The guy quickly realized that he was being targeted.
Unfortunately, no matter how fast he was, he was not faster than Shye, who easily decapitated him, took his Hawkin badge from his spatial bag, hid his corpse in a corpse container, and copied his appearance using his [Aesthetic Alteration] skill.
Everything happened in the span of a minute.
To those in the alley, nothing seemed unusual.
In their eyes, the now-dead man only appeared to pause for a few seconds before continuing to move again.
In the next moment, Shye, knowing he had no time to lose, walked quickly but inconspicuously toward the establishment.
The message had made it clear that his friends were in grave danger, and there was no time to hesitate.
If this plan failed, he would resort to the classic front-door approach, using sheer force to make anyone who dared obstruct him move aside.
