Chapter 791: Stupid Septo
‘Tch… So they’re on the tenth or eleventh floor already, huh?’ Shye thought to himself. ‘I need to pick up the pace!’
Currently on the sixth floor after easily clearing the first five, Shye moved even more boldly, especially after sensing Ian’s hero crest.
He felt confident in his ability to locate and rescue his friends primarily because heroes could sense each other’s crests within a certain range.
As long as Shye got close enough, he knew he could pinpoint their location with ease.
It was almost like having a built-in, modern-day GPS leading him straight to his friends.
Naturally, since Shye could already sense his friends, they, too, could sense him.
Ian and Kiin, upon suddenly detecting the presence of another Valenzian Hero behind them, reacted in different ways.
Ian felt a mix of nervousness and relief, bracing himself for a lecture from Shye while also feeling reassured that the strongest and most dependable member of their group had come to their aid.
Shye’s mere presence brought a comforting sense of peace to his friends’ hearts.
On the other hand, Kiin was torn on whether he should feel happy or alarmed.
He had fought Shye in the past, and even with his full power, the bastard merely toyed with him.
He was unconsciously traumatized by Shye, fearing that the bastard might ruin everything again.
However, at the same time, he realized that this was a huge, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for him.
If his plan to capture four of Shye’s close friends also led to the capture of his father’s primary target, it would all but guarantee his position as heir.
Nonetheless, Kiin felt slightly nervous, so he secretly sent a message to the receptionists of all ten entrances.
“6th floor” was the content of the message.
Noticing a message from the Fifteenth Hawkling, the receptionist at the seventh entrance raised an eyebrow in slight surprise before quickly opening it out of curiosity.
They had all been briefed on the young Hawkling’s unique situation: he had successfully infiltrated Hadean Varsa at a deep level but could only communicate through cryptic messages in return.
It was up to them to decipher the meaning of the message.
Though challenging, this task presented a significant opportunity for them to climb the ranks within the Hawkin Group.
Hence, the next moment, all ten receptionists quickly focused on the message.
Sixth Floor? What could Fifteenth Hawkling mean?
The first thing that entered their minds was that there was an intruder on the sixth floor, which was correct.
However, out of the ten receptionists, one had already deciphered Kiin’s message.
“Shye Crowley is on the sixth floor of the headquarters.”
Almost immediately, the seventh receptionist almost went crazy in excitement.
This was a huge chance for him and his men!
Rats rarely dared to enter, so the one who had come through his entrance was likely the renowned Shye Crowley himself.
However, in the next moment, the seventh receptionist realized something that filled his heart with rage.
How had the intruder even reached the sixth floor?! Didn’t his men set up an ambush on the third?!

The receptionist quickly picked up his mana communicator, calling the captain of the seventh squad.
**
*YAWN~*
One of the seventh squad’s elite members, hidden inside a room near the ambush point, yawned lazily.
They’d been lying in wait for hours now. Yet, there were still no signs of the target.
It was then that the sound of a mana communicator echoed across the dark room.
The sound seemed to be coming from their captain’s communicator.
*BEEP~!*
With a beeping sound, the seventh receptionist’s cold voice sounded, allowing those near the captain to eavesdrop on the conversation.
“Septo, tell me honestly, did your squad immediately head towards the ambush point after I called or not?”
Upon hearing the seventh receptionist’s question, Septo, the captain of Hawkin Elite Squad Seven, sweated coldly.
He, too, found it odd that the target had still not arrived at the ambush point.
Septo kept reassuring himself that no one would be able to descend the labyrinth-like floors of the main headquarters that fast, and that the target was just absurdly slow.
There was no way that the squad captain of an elite Hawkin Squad would be stupid.
Well, quite possibly a little.
Nonetheless, upon hearing the seventh receptionist’s question and the cold tone of his voice, Septo immediately realized he had screwed up.
The target had passed through the ambush point before they even arrived!
The receptionists, although retired combatants, were former commanders of the Hawkin Group.
None would dare take their words lightly.
With a slightly shaking voice, the seventh squad captain answered honestly:
“N-No, Sir…W-We finished our squad meal first before heading towards the ambush point.”
*BANG!*
Furious at his underling’s response, the seventh receptionist couldn’t contain his anger and slammed his left palm onto the wooden desk.
However, as the receptionist in charge of one of the ten entrances, the man knew he couldn’t erupt too much.
Otherwise, a few of the customers might notice that there was something weird going on behind the scenes.
After taking a few deep breaths, the seventh receptionist spoke once more:
“You’ll be punished later,” he threatened. “However, there’s still a chance for you to redeem yourself. According to Fifteenth Hawkling, the man who just entered is Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn, and he’s currently on the sixth floor. Spare no effort in capturing him, but remember this: you are to capture him alive, not kill him. Is that clear? Also, if your squad can’t capture him without assistance from other squads, then don’t force things and wait for reinforcements, focus on containing him.”
Hearing his superior’s orders, the seventh squad captain paled.
He indeed messed up big time!
Luckily, there was still a chance for him to make things right.
“Understood, Sir Seven!”
As soon as the call ended, Squad Captain Septo ordered his men to pack up and quickly pursue Shye, their trapping and assassination devices ready.
However, theirs were clearly of much lower quality than those used by Dweezel.
