Chapter 793: The Art Of Yapping
The deafening noise was followed by a billowing cloud of dust from the shattered ceiling, a mix of cobblestones and metal, obscuring the figure that had just descended.
Moments later, the dust settled, unveiling the man who had crashed down to the thirteenth floor through the ceiling.
“S-Shye!” Ian, Harry, and David exclaimed in unison, prompting Luna to turn her head and look.
She, too, was just as surprised by Shye’s timely arrival.
However, Luna quickly realized that the situation didn’t change much.
Three hundred elites would still be too difficult for them to handle. If anything, Shye only put himself in danger by showing up.
She was about to shout for him to retreat along with Ian and the others, planning to sacrifice herself to cover their backs.
However, before she could spout a single word, a blue-haired young man flew past her struggling to stabilize his footing in front of the approaching ambushers.
With this, no one could stop them from retreating.
Kiin was also infuriated upon realizing this. He quickly pulled out his bow and fired a special arrow that whizzed through the air, exploding into a barrier that blocked Shye and the others’ path of retreat.
With this barrier, he hoped to buy at least thirty seconds for his men, giving them a chance to recover from their poor positioning and encircle the five youngsters.
Unfortunately, he blocked the wrong path. Why would Shye take the long route when there was a shortcut right above them?
A powerful force seized Luna from behind, sending her hurtling toward the hole in the ceiling. It took her a moment to realize it was Shye who had thrown her.
Instinctively, she grabbed the edges of the hole and pulled herself up to safety.
Moments later, two more figures landed beside her, far less gracefully, their faces smacking into the ground.
“A-Aihh! Can’t that damned Shye toss me as gently as he did Luna?!” Harry fumed, rubbing his sore face.
The last to get tossed into the hole was Ian, who gracefully landed beside them, his face still as grim as before.
Despite their undeniably better situation, they were not safe yet.
Hence, he quickly helped Harry and David up, tossing one of them to Luna while carrying the other.
Though it appeared embarrassing for Harry and David, mages were quite accustomed to such treatment.
In fact, being able to adapt to being carried was a crucial skill for any proficient mage, enhancing their efficiency during escapes.
As such, neither showed a trace of embarrassment, viewing the situation as entirely natural.
“Quick, let’s head for the teleportation circles!” Ian exclaimed, leading the way in decisively leaving Shye behind.
For Luna, who struggled with the idea of leaving someone behind, every step felt heavier as she sprinted away from the hole.
Though it wasn’t her first time being covered during a retreat, this was the first where the stakes were so dire, and the one staying behind was their leader, who was also far more valuable and talented than she was.
The urge to turn back and “die” alongside Shye like a true comrade tugged at her heart.
Yet, somehow, the sight of Ian’s expression—filled with a quiet confidence that Shye would pull through—kept her moving, her feet carrying her farther and farther from the hole.
Before she knew it, she couldn’t even see the hole anymore.
Soon, her thoughts of returning to Shye’s side faded, replaced by a glimmer of hope that they might still escape the trap set by the damned traitor.
Meanwhile, on the thirteenth floor, two youngsters locked eyes with icy gazes, while a faint, triumphant smirk played at the corners of the blue-haired young man’s lips.

As soon as Shye hurled Ian through the hole in the ceiling, Kiin sealed it off with another barrier arrow, ensuring there was no escape for his Lord Father’s target.
It would take Shye at least seven to ten seconds to destroy them, which was impossible to do in his current situation.
“You played me perfectly, you bastard,” Shye said frostily. “You were Fifteenth Hawkling all along, huh?”
“Heh, just blame your bad luck for being targeted by my Lord Father,” Kiin replied. “Who would’ve guessed I was doing the world a favor by taking out a damned terrorist commander?”
His words left Shye with a stunned expression.
After all, uttering the word terrorist would lead to Kiin’s soul being consumed by the Hadean Varsa soul contract’s soul demon.
Shye, of course, waited in anticipation, but unfortunately, no such thing happened.
“Hoh, so you somehow managed to get rid of the contract’s consequences, huh?” he responded with a frown.
“Hahahaha, I won’t lie. Your damned organization really knows how to operate. Even with my father’s aides helping, it was tough for me to undo the consequences of the contract—mostly because they had to guess everything,” Kiin admitted, his smirk shifting into a confident smile.
The fact that Shye wasn’t even attempting to break through the barriers and was instead talking to him suggested that he had given up and resigned himself to his fate.
Fifteenth Hawkling’s confidence soared even higher when he heard voices coming from behind the barrier in the hallway, signaling that his reinforcements had arrived.
With nearly five hundred elites surrounding Shye, escape was simply impossible.
Meanwhile, without Ian’s illusion shroud, the surveillance crystals finally alerted Dweezel to the situation on the thirteenth floor of his headquarters.
He was pleasantly surprised by the unexpected competence of his fifteenth son.
He quickly sprang into action, commanding his men to activate the defensive systems of his headquarters, including the standard space and void-locking devices, which would prevent Shye from escaping using his [Recall] skill.
Still, the old snake knew better than to grow complacent when facing Shye again, especially after failing an ambush despite personally leading it.
Unfortunately, Kiin was unaware of that failure.
He believed he had already won and that, soon, he would earn his father’s favor, allowing him to bring his mother into the Hawkin Mansion to live with his Lord Father.
Meanwhile, Shye was merely waiting for the perfect timing, buying time for himself through the art of yapping.
A few seconds later, the moment he had been waiting for finally arrived.
He couldn’t sense Ian’s crest anymore, which meant that they had left Dweezel’s headquarters.
In the next moment, Shye activated his trump cards at once—a jet-black armor materializing around his torso and a pair of translucent black wings sprouting from his back.
With a powerful flap and the swift use of his [Dash] skill, Shye appeared before Kiin in an instant, catching him off guard.
Shye swiftly activated one of his new [Semi-Passive] skills, [Curse of the Unholy], imbuing both of his greatswords with [Unholy Flame]—a debuff that would prevent priests and priestesses from healing the damage he inflicted for an entire week.
In other words, Shye intended to wound Kiin severely and make him suffer for days if he failed to end his life outright.
With such a vicious plan in mind, Shye slashed Darky and Murky towards Kiin’s waist, aiming to slice him horizontally in two.
Unfortunately, Kiin’s reflexes as an archer were insanely fast.
Hence, despite being caught off guard, he managed to swiftly step back, though not before Shye’s swords struck his left leg.
The [Unholy Flame] sealed the wound instantly, charring it black, preventing any blood from gushing out of the horrifying injury.
As a result, Kiin was left screaming in agony while rolling on the ground.
Still, despite the pain, the blue-haired Hawkling gritted his teeth, summoning all his strength to shout one last command:
“CAPTURE HIM FOR ME!”
Unfortunately, before his men could even move to carry out his orders, Shye suddenly vanished into thin smoke.
Kiin couldn’t even sense his Valenzian Hero Crest anymore.
