Chapter 795: Change of Plans
“Haah…Haah…” Two youngsters—one male and one female—panted in unison, falling on their butts on the grassy floor.
These two were Ian and Luna, who carried their friends while sprinting as fast as they could, continuing to flee for kilometers after teleporting out of the headquarters.
On the other hand, two more youngsters—Harry and David—breathed a sigh of relief.
It seemed that they were finally safe.
However, just as their concerns for their own safety faded, they were quickly replaced by worry for their friend.
Shye covered their retreat.
Naturally, it would be difficult for them to accept if he perished because they fell into Kiin’s trap, especially since Shye was their commander and the strongest pillar of their unit.
If he died, they would be unsure of how to proceed.
Almost immediately after recovering, Ian pulled his mana communicator out, sending Shye a message:
“We’re safe. If you can, let me know what’s going on at your end.”
To the ex-scout hero’s surprise, he immediately received a reply to his message.
He didn’t have to worry for long.
“Don’t worry, I’m fine. I left the headquarters just seconds after you. Let’s meet at the usual room in Hadean Varsa Main.”
Naturally, Ian was happy that Shye also made it out, inwardly laughing coldly at Kiin’s failure.
He inwardly vowed to personally slit the bastard’s throat in the final battle.
Seeing the expression on Ian’s face, Harry, David, and Luna anxiously inquired about Shye’s situation.
“He’s fine,” Ian reassured them. “He managed to leave just a few seconds after us. He also asked us to head back to the Main Headquarters and meet in the usual room.”
Of course, with such reassurance, the guilt and anxiety that was gnawing at them vanished, replaced by utter relief.
It was their decision to stupidly act against Shye’s order.
Yet, in the end, it was he who saved them from the clutches of the traitor.
Looking back, they now found Kiin’s “illogical” actions suspicious. He had always been calm and collected, yet suddenly became wildly passionate about saving Wendy, despite the slim and unrealistic odds.
Furthermore, the fact that he didn’t need their help to “infiltrate” Sanada’s room and obtain the location of Dweezel’s headquarters now reeked of utter bullcrap.
Most likely, the traitorous literal bastard had known the location all along, especially given that he was a member of the Hawkin Group himself.
Thinking about such infuriating stuff, the four youngsters, lost in their thoughts, clenched their fists hard before snapping back to reality one by one.
In the end, they could only look at each other and nod before activating the Hadean Varsa Crest’s [Organizational Recall].
There was a hint of shame on their faces.
Nonetheless, they were fully prepared to face the consequences of their actions.
To be more specific, they wanted to, as they felt guilty for putting Shye’s life in danger due to their wrong decision of following a snake back to his lair.
Soon, the four found themselves back at the Hadean Varsa Main Headquarters.
After walking for a few minutes, they arrived at the meeting room, shocked to discover that it wasn’t just them who had been called, but everyone.

It seemed that there was another important announcement.
Unless…
‘Shye wouldn’t humiliate us in front of everyone just to make an example… would he?’ Ian, Harry, and David thought to themselves, their hearts pounding.
Even though they knew they deserved the punishment for their foolish actions, they would much rather face it in private.
Of course, while it was a feasible option, Shye wouldn’t resort to that with his friends, especially considering he had been the first one deceived by Kiin in the first place.
He felt partly responsible for their actions.
After all, they were only trying to save Wendy and had been manipulated by Kiin.
It would be unfair to humiliate them as an example for the others.
Hence, as though nothing happened, Shye carried on with his announcement.
“Everyone, change of plans,” he began, with all eyes on him. “For the next year, our focus will be on getting stronger. We will not participate in the probe attack our organization plans to launch in three months. Warriors, Archers, and Scouts, your priority is to improve your physical attributes. Spellcasters, focus on enhancing your mental attributes. You will be permitted to hunt only after six months. Since some people breached the earlier agreement, I will instruct the guards to prevent anyone from our unit from leaving for the next six months.”
The announcement was concise yet shocking.
After all, everyone knew that Wendy Primrose was one of their commander’s and squad captains’ close friends, so the decision to abandon the effort to save her was deeply unsettling and weighed heavily on them.
Was this truly their commander’s true nature? Would they be left to fend for themselves in the future if they made a mistake?
Unsurprisingly, Shye’s announcement had a negative effect on everyone’s morale and trust, especially since he hadn’t provided any explanation yet.
“S-Shye, what do you mean by that? Are we abandoning Wendy?” Ian asked, anxiety gripping his heart.
Why is everyone suddenly acting so strange?
First, Kiin turned out to be a damn traitor, and now, Shye had suddenly become indifferent to Wendy’s situation.
“Of course not,” Shye assured. “However, I won’t elaborate further because the truth about this matter will likely be classified as highly confidential once I report it to the old man. I’m just protecting you all from mandatory memory wipes. Rest assured, though, as I can guarantee that nothing bad will happen to Wendy. That’s all from me. Any other questions?”
While the others breathed a sigh of relief, Ian secretly clenched his fists in frustration.
He wanted to know!
However, he also understood that the more people who knew about certain information, the greater the risk of it being exposed and used against them.
Thus, despite the turmoil in his heart from repeated betrayals, he chose to place his trust in Shye, even though it was far from easy.
‘You better not be lying…Shye…’
