Chapter 801: A Thorn Replaced By Two
‘SH*T!!’
Every hair on Baradur’s body stood on end as he sensed the icy edge of Ian’s dagger nearing his neck.
Instinctively, he spun around as quickly as possible, stepping back in a desperate attempt to dodge the strike.
Unfortunately, how could he, a warrior, be faster than a scout?
Baradur’s eyes widened upon realizing that his opponent’s weapon—clad in a corrosive dark aura—was already just a few centimeters away from his neck.
There was only one course of action he could do now.
“Stoic!” He exclaimed in a panic.
In the very next moment, his body shimmered with a translucent golden hue, signaling that [Stoic] had already activated.
To Baradur’s horror, as the dagger of the terrorist elite codenamed Alpha Three struck the translucent glow shielding him, the blade’s corrosive aura began to erode [Stoic].
The next moment, crimson blood spurted out of the Yon Augennian hero’s neck, some turning black upon making contact with the corrosive aura of Ian’s blade.
“GHHAAHKK!” Baradur cried out, a sudden chill sweeping over his body while warmth spread across his neck.
The Yon Augennian Hero’s mind went blank.
He did not know whether he was dead or alive for a second.
However, he soon realized that despite blood gushing wildly from his neck and the metallic taste flooding his mouth, he was still alive.
The first thing he saw upon regaining his wits was the eerily cold gaze of the young terrorist elite through his white mask.
In the young man’s eyes, he was already dead.
‘I have to run!’ was the first thought that entered Baradur’s mind.
Covering the deep wound on the left side of his neck with his left hand in a desperate and pathetic attempt to stop the bleeding in what little way he could, the Yon Augennian hero fled like a defeated dog, his right hand grabbing something from his spatial bag.
Witnessing this, Ian smirked coldly and quickly chased the man.
Unfortunately for him, how could it be so easy to take down a hero?
In the next moment, an azure aura surrounded Baradur’s massive frame, quickly fading into scattered mana particles.
When Ian’s dagger pierced the nape of the azure human silhouette, he felt no satisfying resistance, as if he had struck nothing but air.
Baradur Pentagon of the Holy Sword had successfully escaped.
“Tch.” Ian clicked his tongue in dissatisfaction and regret.
He was so close to killing the arrogant bastard. Unfortunately, he fell short in the end.
Meanwhile, Maverick and his army were sprinting through the hallways of the WAA Headquarters, heading towards the area where the Communication Room and Emergency Teleporter Room were located when suddenly, he received two messages simultaneously.
The first one was from Alpha Three.
“Commander Maverick, Baradur Pentagon has escaped. However, with the cursed mortal wound I inflicted, it will take him about a month before he’s capable of fighting again.”
After reading Ian’s message, a weight has been lifted off Maverick’s chest, only to be replaced by another upon opening the second message.
It was from the captain of Squadron Two—the squadron that attacked the south entrance.

“Commander Maverick, we need immediate assistance! Guard Captain Targon, his elites, and Saorus Calamitas of the Heaven’s Wrath have arrived and are attempting to retake the Communication and Emergency Teleporter rooms! We’re being overwhelmed even with Squadron Four’s help! If reinforcements don’t arrive in the next five minutes, we’ll have to retreat to prevent heavy losses!”
‘Sh*t!’ Maverick cursed, immediately sending a message to Alpha Three.
“Alpha Three, another hero—a mage—is attacking our squads guarding the Communication and Emergency Teleporter Room. We need your assistance, as Targon is there as well.”
Soon after, he and his men sprinted off once more, hoping to arrive on time to help the struggling squads in the southwest area.
Maverick had only just returned his mana communicator to his spatial pouch when suddenly, he received another message.
He frowned and instructed Lieffer to temporarily take command and lead the men toward the southwest area.
After an abrupt stop, Maverick pulled out his mana communicator again to see who the message was from.
His eyes widened as he realized it wasn’t a message, but the built-in emergency distress signal of the Hadean Varsa Communicators.
A blinking red notification on the screen of Maverick’s mana communicator read: Emergency Assistance Needed.
It was from his wife.
‘Alicia!’
He, of course, wanted to leave everything behind here and come to the rescue of his beloved.
However, he knew that if his wife, who was stronger than him, was struggling with the situation, there was no way his own weak self could improve things.
Fortunately, the distress message was automatically received by those ranked vice-commander and higher, including his monstrously strong son.
Before he could even worry for ten seconds, he received a message from Shye.
“Don’t worry, leave this to me.” was the content of the message.
With his son personally heading out to assist his wife, Maverick was finally able to focus on his own situation.
He returned his mana communicator to his spatial bag and sprinted toward the southwest area, striving to catch up to his men who had already moved ahead.

“C-Commander Alicia, Squadron Three is on the verge of collapse!”
“Commander! Squadron Two needs help—t-these things, they can’t be human!”
“Commander Alicia, please help!”
At the Hawkin Mansion, Alicia Crowley’s Strike Force Two was engaged in a brutal battle with the Hawkin Guards.
Naturally, she was troubled by the desperate calls for help from her squadron captains, their formations barely holding together.
Earlier, the brief moment she took to press the distress button had already allowed her opponent, Hawkin Guard Captain Balkan, to heavily injure her vice-commander.
She couldn’t afford to spare any more attention to other matters.
After all, it was clear that no one but her could keep the powerful guard captain at bay.
‘It’s all because of those damned things!’ she cursed inwardly as she expertly parried Balkan’s greatsword with her dagger, forcing its blade to strike the ground.
