Chapter 804: Probing Operation Complete
A young man shoved Septo aside, momentarily causing Hakkin’s eyes to widen before they narrowed.
“Alexander Aphelion? Weren’t you at the west city gate?” the terrorist commander asked.
“I was,” the young hero confirmed. “I just took out the key monsters from that gate and left quickly.”
Hakkin wanted to make the young man doubt his decision to leave the defense of the west gate to the city guards.
However, judging from his apathetic expression, it seemed that such tricks would not work on the young hero.
Thus, the terrorist commander decided to take a different approach.
Knowing that it would be hard for him to fight both Septo and Alexander at the same time, Hakkin tried using the young hero’s pride against him.
The Hadean Varsa Commander narrowed his eyes.
“Oh? So, you’ve come to personally stop me, have you?” he said, a hint of mockery in his tone. “It would be an honor to fall by your blade. But tell me, doesn’t it seem a little beneath your status for a young hero to join forces with an elite squadron captain just to take down a mere terrorist commander?”
Immediately upon hearing Hakkin’s crafty words, Septo’s heart raced in anxiety.
Although the squadron captain had no doubts about the combat prowess of Alexander Aphelion of the Boundless Shadows, it would be far better for the two of them to join forces against the notorious Hakkin the Mad, and the young hero’s age left Septo concerned he might be tricked into accepting an unnecessary one-on-one duel.
What right did these despicable terrorists have to even dare speak of honor, anyway?
“You don’t have to worry about that. I, Alexander Aphelion of the Boundless Shadows, shall take you down on my own.” the young hero replied.
To the elite squadron captain’s horror and the terrorist commander’s glee, Alexander actually accepted the duel proposal, prompting Septo to at least attempt to protest.
“S-Sir Alexander, i-it would be wiser to–”
“I don’t want to hear it.” The young hero rudely cut him off, shooting a cold glare towards the elite squadron captain. “You think I can’t take down some filthy terrorist?”
“T-That is not what I me–”
“Then shut up,” Alexander said with narrowed eyes.
Naturally, after being silenced by a renowned hero, Septo—fully aware of the young man’s true identity—wouldn’t dare say another word.
He simply moved aside as per the young hero’s request, the battle temporarily coming to a stop.
Both the terrorists and the Hawkin Defenders knew that this battle would decide the fate of the battle.
If either combatant were to lose, their side would likely be slaughtered by the victor’s forces.
Kirov watched anxiously as Alexander Aphelion stepped forward, deftly drawing his dagger and spinning it with practiced mastery.
He knew how strong Hakkin was.
However, he had once dueled a hero in the past—a Chellionian one—and was forced to retreat after narrowly losing the fight.
If a hero from the fourth-ranked Chellione Region could best him, Kirov had little confidence in Hakkin’s chances against a Yon Augennian hero like Alexander.
While watching with his heart racing, he noticed his commander performing strange hand signals.
The next moment, upon realizing what the signals meant, Kirov’s eyes widened momentarily before quickly returning to normal.
He could not give the enemy a hint of what they were planning.

“Commander Alicia, the monster hordes are retreating.” one of the squadron captains beside Alicia suddenly said in a low voice.
Naturally, the other commanders received the same information.
It seemed that the monster horde had already hit its limit.
Continuing the probing operation would be unwise, as the adventurers and guards would likely move in their direction to reinforce their enemies if they didn’t retreat soon.
Thus, upon learning that the horde was retreating, the Crowley couple promptly issued their own order to withdraw.
It was with deep regret that the two commanders issued such orders.
After all, on Alicia’s side, Shye had already taken down more than twenty of Dweezel’s soul warriors.
Additionally, Balkan was gravely injured.
If not for the soul warriors’ sacrifices, he would have already fallen to Shye’s monstrous and relentless attacks.
It was indeed a shame that Shye had to let the bastard go.
On the other hand, Ian, who was known as Alpha Three by his comrades-in-arms from Hadean Varsa, was already on the brink of killing Saorus Calamitas of the Heaven’s Wrath.
He needed no more than thirty more seconds to finish the Yon Augennian Mage Hero off.
Unfortunately, orders were orders and Ian had to retreat alongside Maverick.
Nonetheless, after nearly taking down two heroes on his own, codename Alpha Three was destined to achieve unparalleled notoriety, likely on par with Shye.
Dweezel and the WAA would likely do their best to investigate his true identity.
It wouldn’t be too difficult for them to deduce it, though, considering that Ian used his signature skills back when he was still Ian Izanagi of the Nightfall Requiem to defeat Baradur and overwhelm Saorus.
Furthermore, who else, besides those with hero crests, could defeat others who possess them?
…With a click of his tongue, Ian retreated, making his way toward the same void portal as Maverick and his men.
Shye followed suit, taking his mother and her strike force with him to the void portal that opened near the Hawkin Mansion.
Meanwhile, Shirley and Reginald, having received no orders to move, simply activated the recall skill tied to their Hadean Varsa Crest to return to the main headquarters.
In an instant, all that was left at the scene was the devastation the terrorists caused along with the red smoke they used to cover their retreat.
No enemy squadron dared to stop them, largely because the Hadean Varsa Forces were winning their battles.
However, not everyone’s retreat was smooth.
Hakkin’s Strike Force was forced to use their one-time emergency escape measure to bail themselves out of an extremely difficult situation.
Although most of Strike Force One’s elites and leaders managed to escape, one name now sparked deep, instinctive fear in their hearts, making them feel a chill around their throats at the mere mention: Alexander Aphelion of the Boundless Shadows.
