Chapter 806: Post Operation Reporting (1)
Inside a certain metallic room adorned with various embedded magic circles and purple-glowing apparatuses, an old man materialized out of thin air.
“How are you feeling?” Sanada asked.
Hearing his voice, a young woman with ashen hair turned, a gentle smile gracing her face despite the chilling purple crack-like marks that stretched from the back of her skull across her gorgeous facial features.
If Shye had seen her in her current state, he would have immediately challenged Sanada to a fight to the death.
“Ah, Grandpa Hermit. I’m feeling much better now, thanks to you, though I still get the occasional excruciating headache.” Maia responded.
At first, Sanada believed that the rather extreme method of directly extracting the soul poison through her orifices would limit the rehabilitation treatment to no more than two months.
However, a week into Maia’s therapy, the old man realized how potent the brainwashing soul poison was and how severe it had affected the young woman’s mind.
It was only after around three-and-a-half months that they started seeing significant improvements in her condition, though the temporary side effects of the extreme treatment method still attacked her from time to time.
This was also Shye’s business with Sanada, which was why he decided to attend the post-operation report meeting.
He was anxious about the condition of his beloved little sister.
Exactly two months after Maia had been locked away in a room he couldn’t enter for Sanada’s treatment, Shye inquired about her situation, his temper almost blowing up upon hearing that her condition was worse than expected.
He wanted to take his anger out on the old man.
Fortunately, he managed to remind himself, with the help of [Unfazed Heart], that Sanada was the one helping him treat Maia and was not the enemy.
The enemy he had to pay back was Leffen Suntale.
“Good. Take your time absorbing the potion’s nutrients—it will enhance your talent exponentially,” Sanada advised.
‘Though it will cost you five years of your lifespan…’ he thought silently, feeling his mana communicator vibrate.
As Sanada retrieved the device, he realized the probing operation had already been completed and Maverick had returned to deliver his report.
“Well then, Maia, your parents have returned from their assignment. I shall go meet with them.”
With those parting words, the old man vanished once more into the void, disappearing into nothingness.
Meanwhile, hearing that her parents were safe brought Maia a sense of relief.
She sighed softly, a smile gracing her face as she resumed her meditation inside one of Sanada’s soul machines, absorbing the soul nutrients in her body to further enhance her already immense potential.
Maia was the perfect blend of her parents’ finest qualities, while Shye was the complete opposite.
With her mother’s exceptional combat talent and her father’s intelligence, Maia was destined to become a great adventurer, had it not been for the setbacks in her career brought about by those targeting her family.

Four individuals—Maverick, Alicia, Shye, and Kirov—were seated inside a highly secured meeting room, with only those ranked commander and above allowed to enter.
This was the first time Kirov had ever been allowed to enter this room, and it was only now that the reality of Commander Hakkin’s death— the man he had followed for the past decade, and the reason he had grown into such a capable Vice Commander—truly sank in.
The guy was more like an older brother to him, teaching him everything he needed to know and providing mental support whenever his resolve faltered.
Now, Hakkin was gone, and it was his turn to be the eldest brother of their elite unit.
Tears threatened to fall, but Kirov quickly suppressed it.
He had to be strong.

Soon, Sanada appeared in front of them, materializing out of thin air.
Shye, Maverick, and Alicia performed the customary greeting while Kirov was dumbfounded.
Who the hell was this amiable grandpa?
He had only seen Sanada’s horrifying hermit form, his eyes a piercing purple.
It didn’t take long for him to realize, though, that this was “the Supreme One”.
Was this Sanada Eiichiro’s true face, or was it the other way around?
Either way, the Supreme One was the Supreme One, so Kirov quickly followed suit and offered the customary greeting.
“Hoh? Who’s this young man?” Sanada asked. “Hohoh, quite the handsome lad. I wonder if you have a lot of ladies chasing after you?”
“Hahahaha, how could ladies be chasing after a terrorist vice commander? Silly old man.” Shye laughed. “Aren’t you just jealous since your face isn’t so aesthetically pleasing?”
“Wha? Maverick! Your boy is growing bolder and bolder! Hmph! So what if I’m not handsome? I can still get any girl I want!”
“Ha! With your age? I doubt it!”
Kirov was naturally dumbfounded upon hearing the conversation between Commander Black Dawn and the Supreme One.
Also, did he hear things right? Did Sanada just refer to Shye as Commander Maverick’s “boy”?
Moreover, Sanada Eiichiro, the former Voidweaver, called him a handsome lad?
The hell was this?!
He had been so nervous, doubting whether he could take Hakkin’s place and earn the leader’s acknowledgment.
But when he finally met the “Leader of the most notorious terrorist organization,” the man turned out to be a friendly, affable grandpa who generously handed out praises.
Did Hakkin know that this was Sanada’s true face? Was this why he willingly gave his life for this old man’s cause?
Based on his current appearance, there was no way such a guy would even be able to think of anything evil.
Unfortunately, Kirov was too overwhelmed at the moment, even going so far as to judge someone based on their appearance.
It had been naive of him to think Sanada was a goody-two-shoes.
Sure, the old man was friendly when there was no need to be serious.
However, he was also the second-most ruthless and despicable person Shye had ever encountered, with Dweezel holding the top spot on that list.
“So, who’s this lad?” Sanada once again asked.
“Reporting to the Supreme One,” Kirov said, his medium-length, curly red hair and his handsome face on full display without his white Hadean Varsa Mask. “I’m Kirov Mistbarrow, Commander Hakkin’s deputy.”
“Ah! I apologize, Kirov.” Sanada responded with a slight apologetic bow. “I’ve long known of your name. It’s just that this is the first time I’m able to meet you in a post-operation meeting, forgive me. Also, I would like to thank you for everything you’ve done for the world and the organization.”
Watching “the Supreme One” bow apologetically, Kirov was flustered.
He didn’t know how to react.
Watching the reaction of the thirty-one-year-old vice commander, Maverick chuckled.
He, too, was initially confused upon learning of the old man’s amiable side.
“Hahahaha, relax, Kirov. This is just how the old man is,” the commander said with a laugh. “All he needs is for you to know when to be friendly with him and when not to.”
Kirov nodded with a slightly awkward smile.
However, Sanada’s next words quickly wiped the smile off his face.
“So, Hakkin died, huh?”
