Chapter 813: I Beg To Differ, Big Bro
Four identical young women were positioned in the front, back, left, and right of a huge hulking man.
They were reminiscent of a pack of hyenas due to the eerie smiles on their faces as they waited for the perfect timing to pounce on their prey.
Heron would’ve preferred to back himself up into a wall to lessen the coverage of attacks he had to defend against.
Unfortunately, Maia positioned her clones faster, cutting him off before he could pull off his plan.
Now, Heron was stuck in the middle of four Maia’s.
‘No matter.’ he thought confidently.
He believed that with his stamina and vitality, along with a wide arsenal of defensive skills, he would definitely find out which was the real one before he suffered grievous injuries from his opponent’s dagger.
Soon, the Maia Crowley positioned behind Heron attacked, stabbing her dagger towards the nape of his neck.
Experienced in dealing with scouts, the hulking Black Dawn Elite simply snorted in response, proceeding to ignore the clone’s attack.
With his vitality attribute, the wound he would suffer from its stab was merely a superficial one.
After all, there was no way a scout would use his/her true body to attack first…right?
Unfortunately, his guess turned out to be wrong as suddenly, he felt all of his hair stand on end, sensing a lethal threat from the “clone” behind him.
‘Sh*t!’ Heron inwardly cursed. ‘Did she plan this?! Stoic!’
Left with no other options, he was forced to use a valuable defensive skill, halting Maia’s dagger from driving deeper after it pierced his skin.
The Black Dawn Elite had the urge to turn around and counterattack.
However, his instincts told him that if he moved from his current position, the clones would make things way more messier for him.
Hence, instead of dealing with Maia’s true body, he used [Dash] to instantly arrive in front of another clone.
He then used [Taunt] to prevent it from escaping.
Only, he didn’t expect that just before his greatsword hacked the clone in half, it would explode into sticky black goo, some of which covered his eyes.
‘F*ck!!’ Heron cursed once more, in slight disbelief that the little girl’s tricks were working on him.
Fully anticipating all four of his opponents to attack him like crazy, the Black Dawn Elite activated [Divine Fortress], encasing himself in a protective golden fortress that would block all attacks for five seconds, which would be more than enough time for him to remove the sticky goo.
He aimed to exhaust at least one or two of Maia’s skills while at it.
Only, he didn’t feel any attacks coming his way, and by the time he managed to remove the sticky black goo, there were now nine Maias surrounding him.
He already used two out of the four defensive skills in his arsenal.
Yet, he had not managed to secure any advantage for himself.
Instead, he only managed to deepen his disadvantage, one that was becoming increasingly difficult to overcome.
His nine opponents didn’t give him any time, this time attacking together—from different angles— as clones should.
Of course, Heron was now locked in. He could not embarrass himself further.
He waited until at least half of the clones were within range before encasing himself in a red shield avatar.
Spikes then erupted outward, instantly destroying at least five clones.

Although it was unfortunate that the main body wasn’t among those eliminated, Heron felt satisfied with taking out more than half of the clones, easily swatting away the black goo that came flying his way afterward.
His four remaining opponents weren’t deterred, however, continuing their relentless onslaught immediately after the red shield avatar stopped shooting red spikes.
This time, Heron was left with only one more defensive skill.
He had to be smart in choosing which damage to willingly take and ensure that one clone would go down the moment he took an attack.
Naturally, once he was certain he could take down the true Maia Crowley, he could use his final defensive skill for that moment.
It has only been a minute since the battle began.
Yet, Maia had already demonstrated that her dueling prowess was no joke, cleverly luring Heron into misusing his defensive skills twice.
She was gradually cracking him open like a coconut, displaying both physical and mental prowess in her approach.
She didn’t resemble an inexperienced fighter in the slightest, moving as if she had fought hundreds, if not thousands, of duels against highly skilled opponents.
Well, she had—regularly sparring with Shye, Siegfried, and the others, even though she was two years their junior.
She had no choice, as none of her peers could even last twenty seconds against her in a sparring match.
Soon, the four Maia’s got in range and began attacking Heron, slashing and stabbing at him like a hungry pack of wolves trying to tear their prey apart.
Only, that prey was a well-armored rhinoceros, who was surprisingly agile despite his seemingly heavy build.
Nonetheless, he has now suffered around twenty skin-deep wounds.
While superficial, they still hurt.
However, in return, he had pinpointed the three fragile clones, even managing to leave small marks on their clothing to easily distinguish whether he was facing a clone or the real one.
The battle was nearing its conclusion, and Heron could see a clear path to victory.
If he concentrated on eliminating the three clones, taking down the fragile female scout afterward would be easy work.
What can a lone wolf do against a raging rhinoceros?
Of course, the most experienced duelists among the onlookers, namely Shirley, Ian, and Kirov, had also realized what Heron did to the clones.
They, too, could see that despite having small wounds all over, Heron was on the verge of victory.
It didn’t take long for the Black Dawn Elite to spring into action, summoning three sword avatars beside a single clone, attacking it, and leaving it with only one path of escape.
He then charged towards that sole path and cleaved the clone’s head clean off, turning it into black goo that he dodged with a mere tilt of his head.
With their identities exposed, the clones could no longer serve as an effective diversion.
Now, they were the primary targets, leaving it up to Maia to finish Heron off before her two remaining clones dissolved into puddles of black goo.
Maia desperately attacked, using various skills such as [Bloody Stab], [Blink Strike], and a few more to try and help the clones live longer.
Unfortunately, like the first one, they were both destroyed—the second one was destroyed by a [Half-moon Slash] while the other with a good old [Shield Bash] and [Power Slash] combo.
Now, only Maia’s true body remained.
However, contrary to everyone’s expectations, there was not a hint of desperation on her face.
She even appeared to be excited by her predicament, a smile lingering on her face the entire time, despite the exhaustion evident in her panting.
“How about we end this, Big Bro Heron?” She offered.
Naturally, Heron wasn’t pleased with her words, irritated by how she was “still acting tough” despite her imminent defeat.
The Black Dawn Unite elite did not have any ill feelings towards Maia.
It was just that he was in a bit of a bad mood due to how he was outclassed at almost every turn by someone ten years younger than him.
“Fine then, Commander’s little sister. I shall indulge you in one final clash.” Heron responded, doing his best to reply as respectfully as possible despite his sour mood.
Soon, a red aura enveloped Heron’s body, and the avatar of a berserker appeared behind him.
On the other hand, Maia’s dagger glowed a simple scarlet.
There seemed to be nothing special about this attack of hers.
Nonetheless, Heron and the others did not dare belittle her, not after the amazing series of clever combat strategies she employed to slowly but surely pile up minor injuries to her opponent’s body.
Although the wounds were only minor, they had a significant impact on appearances, making it seem as though Maia was the one decisively winning.
After all, her fair skin and beautiful face remained completely unblemished, without a single bruise, while her opponent was bleeding quite a lot.
A few moments later, the two combatants charged at each other to begin their final clash.
Their expressions contrasted sharply—one wore a stern, cold demeanor, while the other displayed an eager, excited smile.
As Maia and Heron arrived at the optimal distance to strike each other, the former stabbed her dagger viciously towards the latter’s neck.
Meanwhile, the berserker avatar of the Black Dawn Unit Elite suppressed the space around Maia, preventing her from dodging.
The only way she could go was forward.
As Maia’s dagger closed in on Heron’s neck, a soft white aura radiated from his body, significantly slowing the dagger and weakening its power and piercing ability.
The elite then swiftly followed up by swinging his greatsword toward his young opponent’s neck, stopping mere centimeters away as he declared:
“I win, Maia Crowley.”
Unfortunately, “Maia’s” response to his “victory” was to simply turn into black smoke that dissipated into the four winds.
In the next moment, Heron’s expression stiffened as he felt the cold edge of a dagger pressed against his throat.
“Hehe, I disagree, Big Bro Heron,” a cute voice sounded from behind him. “I believe I’m the winner, no?”
