Chapter 817: Baba
Unfortunately, opening the crude Ironwood gate would expose him, so Shye decided to explore the opening on the left first.
He was met with an area shrouded in deep darkness upon entering.
However, this was not a problem for Shye, as he could see just fine in the dark.
As he surveyed the room, he noticed ten massive rock beds, each widely spaced and divided by thin layers of Ironwood walls.
His eyes then narrowed upon realizing that atop the beds were monstrous creatures.
They were resting soundly.
‘Appraisal!’

Naturally, Shye examined its skills, reading through each one while concealed beneath one of the beds, studying his opponents as he waited for his [Superior Stealth] skill to come off cooldown.
‘Hoh, just as I thought—these big guys rely on skills that mostly let them deliver heavy blunt damage, a bit of self-regeneration, and a unique last-resort rage ability tied to their kin.’ he mused.
Although the Savage Ogre Generals were strong, their skills were nothing out of the ordinary.
This meant that, like most ogres, they were dumb and couldn’t possibly lead an entire thriving hidden clan.

Glancing at the opening once more, Shye saw the eleven seats at the vast table.
‘Ten of them should be for these Savage Ogre Generals…’ he thought. ‘Then these ten should be the strongest combatants of this hidden ogre clan…’
He then looked at the crude Ironwood gate on the other end of the meeting room.
‘Baba, huh?’
This “Baba” should be the ogre clan’s leader.
With this, Shye had already more or less determined the total combat strength of the ogres.
‘Approximately seven hundred (A-) ranked Ogre Defenders, around three hundred (A) ranked Barbaric Ogres, roughly seventy (S-) ranked Ogre Captains, seventeen Bloodskin Ogres, ten Savage Ogre Generals, and one ‘Baba,’ along with a few simple traps that shouldn’t pose any threat to my dragons or Nookie’s corpse army…’ he mused.
He was genuinely impressed that such creatures, notorious for their stupidity, could set up traps so effectively against humanoid beings like orcs, trolls, and, of course, humans.
This should also be because of that perceivably clever “Baba”.
Naturally, Shye was rather eager to see what kind of ogre this wise leader was.
‘I still have time before my dragons arrive anyway…’
Since there was no need to search for potential roosting areas in other, faraway zones, Shye now had plenty of time and could easily wait for “Baba” to show up.
He estimated that all of his dragons would be able to gather at the cave’s perimeter in about six to seven days, so he decided to send a message to Nookie using the Hadean Varsa Mana Communicator he had given to the little necrollin yesterday.
Naturally, the scrawny imp was intrigued by the device, clearly delighted to learn how it worked.
Now, it could communicate with its master and boast about its progress whenever it wished.
The message Shye sent instructed Nookie to take care of matters outside the cave and make sure that no humans who dared to snoop around would live to tell the tale.
With the Omniscient Raven’s assistance, it should be a breeze for Nookie.
Shye, however, did not expect that a long waiting game would ensue, as “Baba” remained locked in her room for the next three days.
The Savage Ogre Generals had already moved multiple times, some of them fetching food and delivering it to Baba through a small Ironwood hatch in the gate.
Naturally, Shye inferred a few things from the food being delivered, one of which was that Baba was an ogre much smaller than these generals.
The portion of meat delivered to it was notably smaller than what would be expected for a monstrous creature, particularly for ravenous brutes like ogres.
‘As expected, it should be an intelligence-type ogre…’ he thought, somehow forming an image of what it looked like in his head.
While waiting beneath one of the Savage Ogre Generals’ beds, Shye browsed the system for skills that would be useful in the final battle, purchasing a few.
However, he didn’t do so until he was satisfied with his attribute upgrades.
[Strength: 900]
[Intelligence: 900 ]
[Agility: 900]
[Dexterity: 900]
[Stamina: 900]
[Vitality: 900]
[Wisdom: 900]
These were merely his base attributes, and they would be significantly higher once he entered combat with all of his necessary weapons equipped and talents activated.
Shye would’ve upgraded his attributes more had it not been for the level four system’s limit.
Unfortunately, after all his upgrades and skill purchases over the past few months, he only had around seven million points left, while the required upgrade points for a level five system was a whopping ten million points.
Aside from that, he still needed more points to further upgrade his attributes.
This made Shye think about whether it would be fine to not upgrade the system further.
Given his current attributes, he was confident that no one—probably not even the old man—could stand a chance against him in one-on-one combat.
He had long surpassed the average human attributes, which typically ranged from six hundred to seven hundred per specialized attribute.
Even heroes like Ian struggled to increase their agility once it exceeded the seven-hundred mark.
With his attributes already at nine hundred each, the effects of his [Limitless Physique] were becoming clearly evident.
Sure, he could still upgrade his attributes past nine hundred, but did he really need to?
Furthermore, how could he amass the remaining three million points to upgrade the system?
Probably not a single soul would applaud a damned terrorist commander for his achievements.
‘Except for…terrorists in the same organization!’ He concluded.
While he was lost in his conflicting thoughts of whether he should try and upgrade the system to level five, the crude Ironwood gate creaked open.
Baba was finally coming out.
