Chapter 818: A Fair Deal (1)
‘What the f*ck is even that?!’ Shye inwardly exclaimed.
He would’ve much preferred to let it out of his chest, but unfortunately, doing so would expose his location.
Shye could only stare wide-eyed with a gaping mouth in utter disbelief at what he was seeing.
‘T-There’s no way these idiots actually think THAT is an ogre…’
Standing before Shye was a ridiculous mascot—a young woman inside, struggling to manage her blue ogre costume made of hemp, fiber, cotton, and natural dyes.
“Aiih, why the f*ck is this thing so heavy?!” the young woman exclaimed, evidently losing patience.
‘T-This lass isn’t even trying to hide the fact that she’s human! What the hell?!’
Shye found everything a bit too hard to believe.
Even though it was clear that “Baba” was just a human pretending to be an ogre, the Savage Ogre Generals still hurriedly got out of their beds and knelt before her.
“Leader Baba, we greet,” they said in unison.
‘Hohoh, things just got easier, didn’t it?’ Shye mused, snapping back to reality.
If Baba was a human, then they could strike a deal like humans do, no?
Shye sprang into action the next moment, generating gusts of wind as he passed by the kneeling ogres.
The generals naturally detected him and his violent intent.
Unfortunately, they were too late—Shye was already behind Baba, his greatsword poised to deliver a deadly strike.
“Don’t move, or I’ll kill your leader.” He threatened.
“L-Leader!!” The Savage Ogre Generals exclaimed in worry.
Moments ago, everything had been peaceful, but now their revered leader’s life was at the mercy of a human.
The ogres quickly grasped that, judging by the intruder’s speed, he was far stronger than any of them.
Dumb as they were, they did not dare attempt anything stupid that might result in Baba’s death.
“Y-YOU!! WHO ARE YOU?!” Baba exclaimed in a mix of shock and anger.
She trembled in fear, experiencing the threat of death for the first time within the safety of her own sanctuary.
“How about we talk in your room?” Shye offered. “Order these generals of yours to wait for the results of our discussion. If they do anything stupid, I’ll kill them all. You’re welcome to try if you don’t believe me.”
Though well-versed in the art of leading an entire clan, Baba was no expert in combat.
She was thoroughly intimidated by a single threat from Shye.
Hence, she decided to comply, hoping that this nightmare would end soon.
‘Big Bruce… everyone… I-I’ll do my best to handle this for you all… I won’t let Baba’s hard work be in vain…’ the young woman consoled herself.
“G-Generals, return to your beds for now. I will speak with this impolite guest and hear him out.”
Hearing their leader’s words, Big Bruce and the other ogre generals could only clench their fists, returning dejectedly to their resting quarters soon after.
They could only pray for the safety of their leader.

Soon, Shye slowly pulled his hostage through the crude Ironwood gate, locking it securely behind him to buy himself some time in case all ten ogres decided to go berserk and attack.
“So, your name’s Baba?” he asked as he turned to face the slightly shivering young woman.
She was quite the looker.
Her wary brown eyes, paired with her short brown hair and endearing features, gave her a look that inspired a protective instinct.
Though clearly younger than Maia, likely around nineteen or twenty, she stood taller than Shirley and was nearly as tall as Shye, who measured six foot one.
“My name’s Dallis,” the young woman said hesitantly, then pointed to the headpiece of her costume. “That’s Baba…”
Shye narrowed his eyes at the young woman’s response.
With his 900 points in intelligence, his brain automatically made the connection for him.
It seemed that Dallis was adopted and cared for by Baba when she was young.
Now, Baba had likely already perished due to old age, forcing Dallis to pretend to be Baba herself to lead the clan to prosperity.
Fortunately, Dallis had been with Baba since she was young.
This allowed her to observe how the old ogre managed clan affairs.
Additionally, as a human, she was naturally more intelligent than a variant ogre like Baba, making her a more competent leader than the old ogre had been.
“Hoh…I see.” Shye replied, his heart slightly heavy at the realization. “Since when have you started taking over this hidden clan of ogres?”
“Around five years ago,” Dallis answered, gathering her courage before asking Shye, “What’s your goal? Why did you come here and threaten my life? Can’t you see we’re just trying to live in peace? If you’re an adventurer sent by the WAA, please let us go. I promise we won’t harm humans.”
Of course, Shye also wanted to finish this quickly, as it was clear that this clan of ogres posed no threat to humans.
Unfortunately, he still needed their territory for his dragons, so he would have to disrupt their peaceful lives for a short time.
After all, their peace was just a fleeting illusion.
If Dweezel succeeded in his plans, this place would soon become a lifeless, desolate wasteland.
In the end, Dallis and her clan of ogres would have to fight for a place in Dweezel’s Kingdom.
Given the old snake’s ruthless nature, Shye was certain that none of the ogres would be spared should they dare invade.
Dallis, in particular, could face a fate worse than death, as her rise to leadership of an ogre clan would likely intrigue the old snake, making her the perfect subject for his experiments.
Shye was actually doing them a favor by only disturbing them for a while in exchange for long-lasting peace.
If Hadean Varsa succeeded, he even planned to help Dallis set up a high-level illusion formation, allowing her and her clan of ogres to live more peacefully without the constant fear of being discovered by adventurers while her ogres hunt for food.
For now, however, he would need to take their cave for himself and use force to secure a few more combat resources.
