Chapter 831: A Talented Leader
“What is it, lad?” Sanada asked as the door to his room creaked open.
He had already sensed Shye’s presence nearby upon his arrival, so the old terrorist leader wasn’t surprised.
He knew Shye would seek him out after the meeting.
Sanada could sense his commanders’ presence through their crests, but unfortunately, he couldn’t read what was on their minds.
As for Shye, the lad only looked for him whenever he needed help.
This time was probably no exception.
“I’ll be honest,” Shye began. “I’ve been fostering a hidden force of monsters and preparing a lair for them, but seven agents from the WAA discovered the cave. I’ve captured them and placed them in Executive Cell Two.
“However, we can’t keep them there for long, as the WAA will likely send more agents to investigate the area around the cave. I also can’t kill them.”
Upon hearing Shye’s words, Sanada was pleasantly surprised.
He didn’t expect the lad to be so passionate that he even fostered a hidden monster force.
“Hoh? And why is this the first time I’ve heard about this hidden force?” the old man probed.
“I wasn’t planning to tell you,” Shye admitted with a shrug. “Unexpected help is never a bad thing. But oh well, the cat’s out of the bag. Help me deal with this situation.”
“Tell me about your hidden force first,” Sanada replied, his tone measured. “If it’s worth spending a part of my soul energy on, then I’ll help you.”
The seasoned old man understood Shye’s reasoning for keeping the hidden force a secret.
After all, had Sanada known earlier, he would have immediately relied on it and incorporated it into his plans.
In truth, the operation might have been better off without him knowing.
The old terrorist leader, however, was a veteran who had endured countless failures.
He wasn’t the type to grow complacent, even after discovering a reliable force of monsters.
Regardless of this unexpected help, he would still put forth his utmost effort to ensure the highest possible success rate for the unsealing operation.
“Initially, it was meant to be just a hidden army of tamed dragons, which now numbers close to a hundred. However, I got lucky and managed to convince a hidden clan of ogres, about five hundred strong—including around thirty apex (S-ranked) monsters—to join the fight in the upcoming war. They agreed in exchange for a promise of a larger home and long-term peace in the future.” Shye explained, thinking that he was slick for being able to hide the true number of dragons and ogres from the old man.
Little did he know, the seasoned Sanada had already estimated the true size of his hidden force.
The old man even recalled that Shye had tamed a Necrollin Puppeteer in the past and had factored in an estimate of how many corpses Nookie now controlled.
However, Sanada’s calculation was far off the mark, as the old terrorist leader was unaware of Nookie’s evolution into a Master Puppeteer.
The old man’s lack of reaction didn’t mean he wasn’t pleased.
In fact, he was over the moon with delight, silently offering generous praise to Shye in his heart.
Around one hundred and twenty dragons, along with roughly seven hundred and fifty ogres ranked (A-) and above?
It was as if they had suddenly gained a combat force on par with the strength of Cobra’s Unit.
Of course, Sanada would respect Shye’s passion and enthusiasm in achieving their goals.
Hence, after helping the lad with his problem, he planned to erase this part of his memory, believing that doing so would increase their chances of success.
Clearing his throat, Sanada spoke:

“Well done, lad. I honestly didn’t expect you to surprise me like this. I’ll remove this part of my memory later to honor your passion and commitment to the cause.”
Shye still harbored some resentment toward Sanada.
However, the old man’s pleasant attitude and sincerity made it difficult for Shye to truly hate him, despite the fact that Sanada had forced him and his family to fight for the world, as if they were destined to be heroes, when all they really wanted was a peaceful life.
Even now, Sanada is still so respectful and understanding.
It didn’t really matter to Shye anymore that he had revealed the existence of his hidden army of dragons and ogres, yet the old man still went the extra mile to acknowledge his passion and commitment.
Sanada even promised to erase this part of his memory as a gesture of respect.
His words naturally felt good to Shye.
Though his plans had often ended in failure in the past, there was no denying that Sanada was a talented leader.
“Well… no need to do that, but suit yourself,” Shye replied, a bit disoriented by the old man’s respectful nature. “A-Anyway, old man, help me.”
“Sure.” Sanada readily agreed.
Soon, he felt the surroundings shift to a dark purple hue, and before he knew it, he found himself standing in front of Executive Cell Two.
“Are these the WAA agents?”
The old man’s voice then sounded beside him, giving him the jolt he needed to regain his focus.
“Ahh, yeah. I believe they’re a mix of titled adventurers and champions from Deltra and Yon Augenn,” Shye explained.
“Hmmm…”
The old man’s eyes narrowed as he stroked his beard, appearing deep in thought.
“I’m afraid simply removing the part of their memory where they discovered the cave won’t be enough,” Sanada said with a slight frown. “We need to tweak their memories, which will take some time. Don’t worry, leave this to me. I’ll send them back to the WAA once I’m done with them. In the meantime, you better hope they don’t send more to the location before I’m finished…”
Shye wanted a more reliable solution.
However, he understood that the old man was also human just like him. Sanada had his own limitations.
‘Oh well, I’ll deal with it when the problem arises. For now, I’ll trust the old man.’ Shye thought, deciding to not overthink things.
He planned to improve detection measures so he could get his monster army out of there in time, if necessary.
With a nod from him, Sanada prepared to leave through the void.
It was then that Shye remembered something.
“Old man, wait!” he exclaimed, stopping Sanada from activating his spell.
“Hmm? What is it?” the old man asked with a raise of his brow.
“How’s Maia?”
“Oh, your little sister? Her treatment has already been completed successfully, and I released her about a week ago. I believe she went to find your unit’s training rooms.”
