Chapter 835: Primary Goal
“Hahaha, silly sister…” chuckled an ashen-haired young man as he and his black mare galloped through the forest, his laughter carrying a lighthearted warmth.
Shye couldn’t help but recall the desperate apology from his little sister when he teased her about killing him.
Now, he was certain the effects of the soul poison were long gone.
Maia was finally back to her old self.
With a heavy thorn lifted from his heart, Shye could finally focus more on his war preparations, a slight bounce returning to his step.
Soon, he arrived at the hidden ogre clan cave, where he was greeted by Nookie, who was on sentry duty.
“M-Master, is the matter with the prisoners already resolved?” the little necrollin asked, slightly anxious.
Nookie felt guilty, struggling to forgive himself for such a failure.
Shye, of course, understood the turmoil in his tamed monster’s heart.
However, it was truly difficult for monsters, no matter how smart, to contend against humans in a battle of wits.
This was why Shye had never once blamed Nookie.
“Yeah, don’t worry about it. We can continue developing the cave.” Shye confirmed with a smile.
The confirmation allowed the poor little necrollin to breathe a sigh of relief and let go of his past failures.
Like Shye, a slight bounce returned to his steps.
“Well then, you continue standing guard, I’ll check their progress,” Shye said before heading towards and entering the cave.
Riding Zeth, the duo took their time and looked inside, observing the dragons and ogres at work.
‘Hmm, good. At least they don’t seem to be antagonizing each other…’ Shye thought inwardly as he continued his slow advance deeper into the cave.
Although the dragons ignored the enthusiastic ogres, likely due to their prideful nature, there were no conflicts at least.
He soon arrived at the ogre clan’s meeting room, where he even heard laughter.
Dallis, Big Bruce, and Tarintus seemed to be getting along well.
However, before he stepped in, he heard something that he shouldn’t have.
“Gyahahaha! I thought after you and Big Bruce fought the other day, continuing the expansion operation would be impossible. Good thing you two managed to get along just in time before Sir Crowley of the Black Dawn retur—?!”
Dallis’ enthusiastic words were rudely interrupted as a giant hand covered her mouth.
It was then that Shye realized the two monsters had detected his presence.
The young woman struggled for a while, freeing herself from Big Bruce’s hands.
“H-Hey! Big Bruce! What the hell? Is that how you’re supposed to treat your Baba?!” she exclaimed in indignation, hitting Big Bruce with her small fists in protest.
“Big Bruce apologizes. Crowley here.”
Upon hearing what her ogre general said, Dallis paled, even more so after seeing Tarintus bowing towards the empty entrance of the meeting room.
She revealed the secret she had desperately wanted to keep hidden!
“Err…S-Sir Crowley? A-A-Are you truly here? H-How come you’re back so soon?” Dallis asked stutteringly.

Shye couldn’t help but inwardly chuckle.
Although he was surprised that Big Bruce and Tarintus had a scuffle, in the end, they were now friends, and that’s all that matters to Shye.
Nonetheless, it seemed fun to tease Dallis a bit so he did.
“What do you mean Big Bruce and Tarintus fought?” he asked with a cold voice, emerging from the shadows along with Zeth.
“T-T-That’s…a joke? Aha…ahaha…” Dallis replied nervously, scratching her head.
“You think a fight between two apex creatures is a joke? And you wanted to keep it a secret from me?” Shye doubled down, the tone of his voice colder.
Tarintus watched everything with his brows raised in confusion.
As Shye’s tamed monster, he could sense whether his master was truly angry or not, but as a dragon, he wasn’t too familiar with human jokes.
On the other hand, Big Bruce frowned, standing in front of Dallis, ready to defend his clan’s Baba to the death.
This time, Dallis panicked, quickly sprinting in front of Big Bruce.
“S-Sir Crowley, I-I apologize, I just didn’t–”
It was then that Shye laughed.
“I’m just kidding,” he admitted. “Everything’s good as long as the two sides get along now. Besides, what would you even do in a battle of such magnitude?”
Tarintus then chimed in, pondering with realization, “Ah, so you were only joking, master? That’s why I couldn’t sense any anger from you despite your pressing words…”
“Y-You’re just joking?” Dallis asked, managing to breathe a sigh of relief upon realizing that Shye had indeed been joking.
She felt responsible for allowing the fight to happen, as it had just so happened that she decided to laze around inside her room that day and read books all day.
“Hahaha, yeah, I just got the idea to prank you after Big Bruce covered your mouth,” Shye laughed. “Anyway, I just returned to see if things are going well, and it seems they are, so I’ll leave you guys to your own devices to search for more dragons and subdue them.”
He then turned to Tarintus and continued:
“Tarintus, I need you to watch over the proceedings here, and make sure there will be no conflicts with the ogres from now on.”
“I understand, leave it to me, master.” the elder dragon guaranteed.
“Where’s Menas?” Shye then asked. “I need him to join me in subduing more dragons, and hopefully, find a leader for you all in the upcoming war.”
This was his primary goal in the next six months: look for a dragon emperor who could lead his army.
All armies needed a commander, and Shye wouldn’t be able to effectively lead a team of dragons in the sky, as he would have to lead his Black Dawn Unit personally.
Hence, he needed to find a dragon emperor.
Any dragon emperor was fine, as long as it was an emperor, because elder dragons like Tarintus wouldn’t be able to convince an entire army of dragons to follow him willingly due to their innate pride as mighty draconians.
Unfortunately, taming one using the skill [Tame] proved impossible time and again.
He had to try other methods.
Of course, Shye already thought of a few, though he wasn’t sure which one would work.
Nonetheless, he had six months to try.
With a mid-pitched growl that sounded like a mixture of a roar and a screech from Tarintus, another elder dragon of similar size arrived, a permanent scowl on the dragon’s face.
