Chapter 837: Return of the Audacious Loser
Scanning his eyes over the vast domain of the Wind Dragon Emperor, an idea entered Shye’s mind.
“Say, Menas.” He began, “Tarintus called you earlier, correct? Can you do the same to the dragon emperor that lives here?”
“Yes, I was about to do that.” the elder fire dragon confirmed.
“Great, saves me time looking for it…”
Shye then pointed at a vast plain just northwest of them before continuing: “There, call it there, on the plains.”
Menas narrowed his eyes at his master’s decision.
The Elder Fire Dragon was notorious for its hot-headedness and reckless decisions, but it didn’t mean that Menas was extremely stupid.
He had learned from the last encounter that battling Zephyrus’ flight of dragons was a mistake.
Even with his master by his side, Menas felt a gnawing uncertainty—he had never seen Shye fight.
All he truly knew about his master was that Shye had the ability to transport him to another world to face a black, monstrous human.
While that so-called Black Human seemed invincible, Menas couldn’t help but question the reliability of the skill.
What if it failed to activate when they needed it most? And if that happened, what could his master do then?
He did not want to fight Zephyrus’ entire flight on his own again.
Although he was way stronger now than he was then, fighting multiple dragons would take a toll on him and would probably exhaust fifty percent of his stamina and mana.
If that happened, he was sure he would fall prey to the same tactic and be left scrambling for his and his master’s life.
This was also why Menas never tried to return to Zephyrus’ domain for the last five decades.
He knew that he needed to be an emperor and form his own flight first before he would have a chance to eradicate the hateful Wind Dragon Emperor from existence.
Noticing the doubt in his tamed monster’s eyes, Shye frowned, thinking: ‘Is he going to snap like an idiot again and attack me?’
Luckily, no such thing happened, and although reluctant, Menas followed his orders in the end, swiftly flying towards the center of the vast plain.
This allowed Shye to breathe a sigh of relief.
‘This troublesome bastard…if only you’re not a part of my plan, I wouldn’t have brought you…’ he sighed inwardly.
Soon, they arrived at the plains.
However, unlike Tarintus’ complicated call, Menas simply roared his lungs out, fire even unintentionally shooting skyward.
The doubts in the elder fire dragon’s eyes were now gone.
Menas thought that, since he was already here, there was no need to hesitate.
He would just slaughter his way towards Zephyrus, and hopefully, get a slightly fairer chance this time.
The elder dragon had grown accustomed to countless defeats—what difference would one more make?
Meanwhile, somewhere atop the peak of a windswept mountain range, a pair of eyes with yellow irises and black vertical pupils opened.
A thirty-meter-tall dragon with rough and seasoned silver scales then rose from its slumber, its eyes narrowing upon hearing the challenge of another draconian of a different race.
A smaller dragon of similar aesthetics then appeared in front of the recently awoken dragon, lowering its head as it reported:

“Emperor Zephyrus, an elder fire dragon has arrived to challenge you. It is waiting in the Windswept Plains. According to our clan’s elders, this dragon has faced you before and was defeated. I believe it seeks revenge.”
Upon hearing the young wind dragon’s report, Zephyrus’ eyes narrowed.
“Hoh, the elder fire dragon has challenged me in the past, you say?” the Wind Dragon Emperor asked in intrigue, memories of one dragon suddenly flashing in his mind. “Probably Menas…Hmph! Assemble the flight, we shall face the audacious loser. This time, I will not be so merciful.”
Soon, a horrifying flight of forty wind dragons, five elders, twenty mature, and fifteen young ones, flew out of a howling cave atop a misty mountain, majestically heading towards the Windswept Plains.
It didn’t take long for Menas to sense their presence, deepening the frown on the elder fire dragon’s face.
In the past, when he challenged Zephyrus, there were only twenty-five dragons under him.
Now, it seemed that the Wind Dragon Emperor’s fight had almost doubled in a mere five decades.
As courageous and ferocious as he was, Menas understood that they were in trouble.
If his master’s skill failed, and his master turned out to be useless in combat, then he would turn around and flee without a second thought.
However, even this might prove to be too hard.
After all, the enemies were wind dragons, known for their flight speed and masterful aerial maneuvers.
As seconds passed, the grim expression on Menas’ face further darkened.
But not for long.
In just a few short seconds, the elder fire dragon had already resolved to die in battle, vowing to take at least fifteen dragons with him, setting the Wind Dragon Emperor’s forces back by five whole decades—to a time when they were only a flight of twenty-five dragons.
A few more minutes later, Zephyrus and his subordinates came into view.
The Wind Dragon Emperor and his elder fire dragon challenger immediately locked gazes.
The two then roared—as loud as they could—proclaiming their might as draconians.
Menas courageously faced the entire flight, not a hint of fear in his eyes.
“We meet again, cowardly emperor,” he began. “Are you going to send your flight to weaken me again, like a coward, before stepping forward when I’m already spent? Come then. This time, I’m ready for your wussy strategies!”
“Hmph! It seems that you still haven’t learned your lesson, foolish elder of flames. Didn’t I already tell you? Wind Dragons use their calm, logical, and intelligent nature to take their opponents down. Your dumb argument does not faze me.” Zephyrus retorted sharply. “Moreover, you do not deserve the throne of an emperor, having already submitted to a mere human.”
“Ha! No need to spout excuses, come at me!” Menas roared, assuming a combat stance as his mighty vermillion wings flapped tirelessly.
Of course, no matter how calm and logical wind dragons were, they were still bound by their innate draconic pride.
Zephyrus was naturally infuriated, not fancying that his logical reply was seen as nothing but mere excuses.
“Since you’re so eager to perish, I shall grant your wish.” the Wind Dragon Emperor replied coldly, turning towards his flight before ordering in an icy tone:
“Rip him apart, limb from limb.”
