Chapter 840: I’ve Come To Take My Throne Above (2)
“Everyone, kill him!” Zephyrus roared in utter fury, the fear in his heart finally overtaken by the grief of losing his sons and trusted subordinates, as well as his innate draconian pride.
Cowardly as he was in the standard of dragons, even the Wind Dragon Emperor would throw all caution to the wind if he saw his kin being slaughtered by his challenger right in front of him.
This time, Zephyrus thought not of his reputation, but revenge for his fallen kin and concubine.
With a cold gaze, he watched as all four of his remaining elder dragons and fifteen mature wind dragons charged with mixed emotions.
Some of them were horrified at the thought of facing the ruthless elder fire dragon.
On the other hand, there were also those eager to fight, hoping to avenge their fallen brothers.
Still, Zephyrus’ instincts told him that it wasn’t the right time for him to strike.
He would personally kill the damned challenger.
However, he would only do so once the bastard was spent.
Zephyrus vowed to humiliate Menas before doing so just like how the bastard humiliated him in front of his subordinates.
Menas roared as if laughing, as he was consumed by battle fervor.
His sharp instincts told him that to survive, he would have to fight like a dragon driven mad.
Yet, there was only one thought in his mind, one that overshadowed even his desire to live: strip the cowardly emperor of his undeserved crown.
Charging towards the four elder dragons leading the charge for the Wind Dragon Emperor’s army, Menas used one of the strongest skills in his arsenal, [Fire Dragon’s Wrath], and summoned multiple vermillion magic circles around him as he flew forward.
Enormous fireballs—larger than the one he had fired at the mature wind dragon earlier— then shot out one after another from the magic circles.
They killed all the remaining young dragons, wounded some of the mature ones who failed to get out of the way in time, and forced the charging elder dragons to halt, dispersing and devouring the wind cutters that they fired from their wings.
Soon, the momentum of the charge of the Wind Dragon Emperor’s forces was stopped.
Meanwhile, Menas was still flying forward with ferocity, targeting a momentarily unfocused elder dragon.
With his experience, he could already tell which among the four elders was the most inexperienced.
“Sekys! Watch out!” exclaimed another elder in warning, saving the elder dragon named Sekys from certain death.
Nonetheless, it didn’t reach the ears of the momentarily distracted elder fast enough to allow him to escape Menas’ attack unscathed.
With a flap of Sekys’ silver wings, he was able to slightly fly towards the right, reducing the damage he sustained from an outright fatal one to a heavy injury as his entire right arm was torn apart by the elder fire dragon challenger.
Scorching hot blood fountained out of the dismemberment, causing Sekys’ flight ability to be unsteady.
In the end, the elder wind dragon, though well and alive, was forced out of the fight.
Sekys retreated beside Zephyrus to recuperate while apologizing to the emperor for his incompetence.
Now, only three healthy elder dragons, and sixteen mature dragons of varying degrees of injury were left at the fighting force.
Witnessing how fierce and savage the elder fire dragon was, even the elder wind dragons couldn’t help but feel fear slowly creep into their veins and hearts.
Their flight had already lost more than half its members.
If their emperor didn’t help them soon, there would be more unnecessary casualties on their side.
However, the innate pride of the elder wind dragons didn’t allow them to ask for help, as in theory, three of them together should be able to take out an elder of the fire dragon race pretty easily.

Fortunately for them, Zephyrus was very perceptive.
The emperor knew that if he still didn’t help now, he would have to fight alongside his injured subordinates, which was also closely equivalent to him fighting the elder fire dragon one-on-one.
Despite the successive victories, Menas had already spent around thirty-five percent of his stamina and mana reserves.
Nonetheless, the battle was already going way better than how the previous one went.
Menas instinctively felt that this would be his last chance to ascend. If he still failed this time, then he would have no choice but to give up.
His passionate heart flared at the thought of being stuck as an elder dragon forever.
While he wasn’t as smart as the wind dragons in front of him, he was undoubtedly stronger, and he craved progress despite rarely having plans, repulsed by stagnation.
Menas would rather die than be satisfied with such a mediocre fate.
Realizing from the corners of his vision that the Wind Dragon Emperor had made his move, the elder fire dragon frowned, taking advantage of the cowering elders and swiftly heading towards the crowd of injured mature dragons.
This time, his forced attack didn’t go so well.
There were two brave, minorly injured wind dragons who decided to sacrifice their life, unwilling to be humiliated further.
They were weaker, but they could at least drag the arrogant challenger down with them, or at least allow their comrades to inflict heavy damage to the bastard.
The two dragons flew towards the approaching Menas side by side, one of them overtaking the other at the last moment.
Menas killed the first dragon with a thin, terrifying ray of concentrated flame, incinerating the brave wind dragon’s head.
Yet, the partially charred corpse continued its momentum, slamming into Menas and forcing him back several meters.
This created an opportunity for Kazeroth—the other brave wind dragon—along with the other wind dragons who had hesitated in confusion.
As the elder fire dragon struggled to stabilize his flight, Kazeroth capitalized on his superior aerial agility and circled behind Menas.
Without hesitation, he then sank his teeth into the arrogant dragon’s right vermillion wing with all his might.
“Die, Menas!”
