Chapter 841: I’ve Come To Take My Throne Above (3)
Witnessing his flight’s counterattack, Zephyrus halted his advance and narrowed his eyes.
Was there no need to help?
Unfortunately, the momentary hesitation turned into the death of three more of his loyal subordinates.
To Kazeroth’s horror, despite his teeth sinking deep into Menas’ wings, he failed to tear it from its roots.
He wasn’t strong enough to do so.
A dragon’s body part—especially the scales—grew tougher the more it suffered damage and recovered.
For someone like Menas, who had narrowly escaped death’s grasp countless times, his body had naturally become extraordinarily tough.
Years of enduring injuries that brought him to the brink of death and long periods of recovery had forged his resilience.
The bite force of a recently matured wind dragon—one with little experience in dragon-to-dragon combat and scarcely any history of serious injuries—was nowhere near strong enough to tear a part of him from his body.
With a simple violent shrug of his right arm, Menas was able to shake Kazeroth off.
He then noticed the other charging wind dragons.
One managed to bite him on the neck, though their teeth didn’t manage to penetrate his tough flesh deep enough to deal heavy injuries.
Nonetheless, Menas was hurt and angry, decapitating the opportunistic wind dragon’s head with an uppercut.
Soon, the dragon’s headless body crashed to the ground.
Kazeroth ferociously struck again, biting the back of Menas’ neck.
However, like the other dragons, his teeth didn’t sink deep enough, allowing Menas to kill two more approaching dragons from the front with a fireball and a vicious punch to the heart.
Zephyrus was furious at the death of three more of his subordinates, no longer hesitating and coming to help.
The remaining three elder wind dragons naturally did the same.
Meanwhile, Kazeroth bit as hard as he could, his sharp rows of teeth slowly sinking deeper into the back of Menas’ neck, causing the fire elder dragon to roar in pain.
It seemed that the death of the three mature wind dragons marked the end of Menas’ fierce momentum of consecutive victories.
Still, with the horrifying damage he had done to the numbers of Zephyrus’ flight, he could already call himself the victor even if he went down at this moment.
After all, the Wind Dragon Emperor’s flight was now down to a mere fourteen dragons—three elders and a pitiful eleven mature ones.
It was the size of an upstart emperor.
With all his sons and two of his concubines dead, Zephyrus could only see red, flapping his wings as strongly as he could while manipulating the wind around him, allowing him to fly faster.
He wished nothing more than to tear the elder fire dragon apart limb from limb, which was what he should’ve just done in the first place.
His logical fighting style didn’t prove to be so logical this time.
Fortunately for Menas, before the Wind Dragon Emperor arrived, he was able to free himself from Kazeroth’s grasp, splitting the Wind Dragon’s jaw wide open with his claws before throwing his corpse to the ground.
Winds howled behind him, prompting the fiery challenger to turn around.
Just as he did, his vermillion scales shattered as around thirty wind cutters—ten from each elder wind dragon—repeatedly struck and dug through his flesh, causing scorching red blood to splatter out and rain upon the Windswept Plains, corroding the flora beneath.
Menas finally suffered his first heavy injury.

However, to the seasoned elder fire dragon, it was just as he expected.
Roaring fireballs shot out of Menas’ maw, shooting one elder dragon down, though his breath attack was accompanied by a mouthful of blood.
Suddenly, an angry roar echoed, commanding the attention of everyone—including Menas.
It was the furious Zephyrus.
“Move aside! I’ll kill this audacious bastard myself!” the emperor exclaimed, allowing his remaining horrified subordinates to finally breathe a sigh of relief and extricate themselves from the battle.
They changed their minds and did not want a piece of the invading elder fire dragon anymore.
A majority of the mature dragons even found themselves shaking, believing that they had just narrowly escaped death.
This was their first encounter with such a vicious, borderline mentally deranged dragon, forcing them to finally acknowledge that the fire dragons—whom they had once dismissed as the dumb ones of their kind—were not to be messed with, for they were also the fiercest.
Watching the remaining dragon subordinates step aside as an enormous silver-scaled dragon stepped forward, a wide, mad smile appeared on Menas’ face.
“Hahahahaha! So, you’re finally willing to step forward?!” the elder fire dragon exclaimed with victorious laughter. “I don’t blame you. After all, I’ve slaughtered nearly two-thirds of your pathetic flight!”
Although heavily injured, Menas was in better condition than the last time he and Zephyrus had fought.
Furthermore, his body had grown tougher over the past five decades, having narrowly escaped death countless times.
His chances were undoubtedly higher this time.
Nonetheless, despite his race, Zephyrus was still a dragon emperor.
It would be a tall task to any elder dragon, seasoned or not, to take him down in a duel.
Shye watched with a frown as the two dragons faced off, though he couldn’t hide the shock in his heart at how their raw physical attributes seemed nearly equal.
He had never appreciated Menas as much as he did at that moment.
From what he knew, dragons underwent a huge increase in physical attributes once they ascended as emperor.
Yet, Menas still somehow managed to achieve the same strength despite being a mere elder dragon.
The hot-headed fire dragon was truly quite the anomaly.
It was as though he was a rebel emperor, forcefully crowning himself despite the heavens rejecting him time and again.
Still, Menas was at a disadvantage due to the heavy injury he sustained from the three elder wind dragons’ wind cutters.
It seemed impossible for him to win, especially since Zephyrus was still in full health, stamina, and mana.
If there was one thing Menas was ahead at, it was ferocity and resolve.
Soon, with a roar of dominance from both sides, followed by a crack of thunder and a sky turning gray, an emperor faced his most horrifying challenger under the nervous gazes of his loyal subordinates.
