Chapter 846: Harbinger of Chaos Arrives
For the next two weeks, preparations went smoothly and efficiently for those from Hadean Varsa.
Shye and Menas flew into various death zones, seeking dragons—regardless of whether they were young, mature, or in their prime as elder dragons, and adding them within seconds to Menas’ ranks.
The black humanoid figure within Shye’s world of white still proved unbeatable and horrifying for most dragons.
So far, no dragon has ever managed to resist it.
As for Shye’s Black Dawn Unit and the Kirov Unit, they had already mastered the most efficient training sequences to maximize their attribute gains and learning, resulting in their combat prowess growing rapidly by the day.
Unfortunately, after two weeks, units under the command of other commanders began showing up once more.
Like the Kirov Unit, they wanted to cross-train with the Black Dawn Unit.
There was no issue with training space, as the Black Dawn Unit had three massive training halls capable of accommodating 6,500 people, despite being a small force of only 300.
Meanwhile, the Kirov Unit, formerly the Hakkin Unit, had lost many of its elites during the probing operation.
The two units totaled only a little over 1,400 people.
As long as Maverick didn’t bring his massive 6,500-strong unit, accommodating one, two, or even three additional units at the same time was no issue, depending on their size.
There was a time when two units—one with 1,400 men and the other with 1,800—joined the Black Dawn and Kirov Units to train, curious to see how they measured up to their reputation.
The two units only lasted less than a week, though.
They quickly realized that the competence and combat prowess of the Kirov Unit had far surpassed their imaginations and their commanders’.
One of the two commanders, Bradley, knew Hakkin quite well, and their units occasionally engaged in cross-training sessions.
Since Hakkin’s men were now far stronger than they were back then, Bradley was forced to believe that Kirov seemed to be far more talented than his departed friend and comrade.
In reality, however, Kirov was slightly less talented than Hakkin, lacking the latter’s unwavering and fearless heart.
Though one could argue that he was wiser, as he managed to set aside his pride and allow himself and his unit to be trained by another commander.
The two units immediately realized how inferior they were to Kirov’s men, who were somehow proud of acting like gatekeepers, preventing the elites of the other units from challenging those from the Black Dawn.
On day one, they were infuriated.
They came here mainly to test the Black Dawn Unit’s strength.
Yet, Kirov’s men prevented them from doing so, insisting that they must go through them first.
Fiery hearts burned as a half-friendly, half-hostile competition ensued between the elites, though the battles quickly turned one-sided, as the Kirov elites proved too tough to handle in one-on-one combat.
The other elite units attempted various methods to engage the Black Dawn Unit members, proposing five-on-five skirmishes and other crap, which significantly disrupted the efficient training schedule of Kirov’s men.
However, the Black Dawn elites remained largely unaffected, thanks to the gatekeepers.
Came sparring day, the members of the Bradley Unit and the Grover Unit learned why the Kirov elites prevented them from challenging those from the Black Dawn.
It was for their own good.
It was also after that day that they returned to their respective headquarters, slightly devastated yet also infinitely motivated to improve.
Bradley and Grover also realized that their unit’s training schedule was utter crap, as they mostly just let them hunt monsters to improve most of the time.
Every other unit ended up like the Bradley and Grover Units.

Some didn’t even make it to sparring day, their commanders utterly humiliated as their men failed to keep up with the warm-up routine of the Kirov and Black Dawn Units, forcing them to retreat to their headquarters to intensify their training.
With only five months left, they were given a rather rude wake-up call.
Which, by the way, were brought about by their own curiosity and competitive spirit without having the skills to back it up.
What if the opponents they would face were as strong as the Kirov and the Black Dawn Unit?
They would be slaughtered like pigs!
After another week, however, the proud win streak of the Kirov Unit was broken, as Chaos suddenly turned up with his men.
Nonetheless, the Chaos elites were—like their name suggested—chaotic.
There were a variety of people.
Some of their members were weak, though the strong were also aplenty.
However, there was a similarity in their personalities: most of them were laid back like their commander, Chaos.
Nonetheless, this didn’t mean that they were willing to be outdone.
The cross-training session between the Kirov, Black Dawn, and Chaos Units began with the usual training routines following the Black Dawn Unit’s training regimen.
To Ian’s surprise, Chaos’ men managed to keep up with the training regimen.
This meant that, despite their laid-back attitudes, they took physical training quite seriously, as they all had decent stamina—even the spellcaster squadrons.
Then came the sparring day once more, where, as usual, Kirov’s men scored the first two victories.
However, it was in the third fight that the Kirov elites lost.
Chaos, despite being on the back foot with a score of two losses and one win, had a pleased smile on his face.
Not once did he underestimate the Black Dawn Unit.
As for Kirov’s men, he must admit that he did so, and that’s why he ordered his vice commander, Feather, to send the weaker ones among his rank to test their prowess.
To his pleasant surprise, they proved competent enough to make things spicy for him to enjoy a good fight.
Nonetheless, Kirov made the same mistake as Chaos did in the third fight, sending a weaker combatant of his unit.
After two consecutive victories, he began to underestimate Chaos’ men.
After a while of back and forth, both sides sent the best duelist among their ranks, resulting in Kirov and his men’s disbelief.
Although by narrow margins, they were losing.
Their egos unknowingly swelled from their consecutive victories against other units, to the point where they no longer believed themselves inferior to the elites under the Supreme One’s right-hand man.
Today, Kirov’s men came to the realization that, despite their skyrocketing combat strength, they were not second but third in the elite rankings.
