Chapter 852: The Mysterious Viper
Since Cobra and his men—including those initially left at his headquarters—began training in the hall adjacent to the one used by the Kirov and Black Dawn Units, the members of the Kirov Unit have always been on edge.
From time to time, a few Cobra elites invaded their training room to cause trouble.
However, the Kirov elites were no pushovers, and so far, although they suffered defeats from “comparing combat notes” with the Cobra elites, they managed to successfully prevent them from disturbing the Black Dawn elites.
This infuriated Cobra more than he had anticipated.
He found it hard to tolerate the Black Dawn elites being treated as if they were some sort of superior beings.
Kirov’s men, having experienced tremendous growth in recent months, naturally came to respect the members of the Black Dawn Unit.
They agreed among themselves that the best way to repay Shye was by preventing other units from disturbing his men’s strict yet efficient training.
It appeared that the Cobra elites and Kirov elites were comparable in terms of combat prowess.
However, the latter seemed to be slightly weaker overall, as they lost five more sparring matches than the Cobra elites did to them.
Nonetheless, the matches were close.
As three months went by, Commander Cobra gradually lost patience.
He began sending his strongest squadron captains to bully the Kirov elites.
Kirov naturally responded by sending his own captains, but unfortunately, they weren’t strong enough, suffering consecutive, narrow losses.
This naturally frustrated Kirov.
He knew that he couldn’t send his vice commander, Fino, to take control of the situation, as it would be impossible for him to defeat Viper should Cobra send her.
Should he go himself? He believed he could now take Viper in a duel.
However, if he did so, then it would give Cobra a reason to show up and cause further trouble.
Kirov knew that Vice Commander Izanagi was a monster, but Cobra was also one.
Without Shye present, he found it difficult to decide what to do, as he wasn’t sure whether Ian could hold the fort.
Chaos and his men had also just left a month ago to take care of stuff.
Since Kirov was a veteran in the organization, the belief that only Chaos could stand on equal footing with Cobra had been deeply ingrained in him.
This caused him to put the troublemaker on a pedestal and trust his combat prowess more than that of Vice Commander Izanagi.
Seeing the difficult expression on Kirov’s face, Ian frowned.
He knew about Cobra’s consistent harassment of their elites, and he was appreciative of the fact that Kirov and his men prevented the bastards from bothering the Black Dawn Unit elites.
But this didn’t mean that he would allow the Cobra Unit to endlessly bother the Kirov Unit to the point they couldn’t train properly anymore.
“Commander Kirov, what’s wrong?” he asked.
“It’s that damn Cobra again,” the struggling commander responded. “He’s sending men daily now, and he’s even started sending squadron captains to harass my men. I tried sending my own, but they kept losing narrowly. I also can’t send Fino, because then he’d send Viper, and I’d have to step in. I’m sure you know what will happen next.”
“Those bastards…didn’t we already agree on a deal?” Ian replied, annoyed.
“Yeah,” Kirov confirmed, “but since Chaos left, the bastard seemingly forgot everything like an idiot.”
“Hmph, do what you must, and don’t hesitate to ask for our help if needed. I believe I can take that dumb f*cker in a fight. Also, I’ve already informed Shye about the operation simulation scheduled for a month from now. He’ll likely be back in two weeks.” Ian snorted. “That bastard is lucky our commander wasn’t here when he initially caused trouble; otherwise, his teeth would likely have been scattered on the ground that day.”

Upon hearing Ian’s confident words, the doubts in Kirov’s heart vanished, replaced by shock and curiosity.
Was Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn truly that formidable?
Of course, he had seen recordings and had heard of Shye’s accomplishments, but those only demonstrated combat prowess similar to what he remembered of Cobra’s, making it difficult for Kirov to believe Ian’s words.
Had Commander Black Dawn remained an agent of the WAA, he would have been their enemy, and he and Cobra would likely have fought to the death.
From Vice Commander Izanagi’s words, he seemed confident that Shye would annihilate Cobra in a fight.
Due to this, Kirov suddenly felt a surge of enthusiasm about the upcoming battle between the captains and commanders of the Black Dawn Unit and the Cobra Unit—scheduled a month from now.
He hoped Vice Commander Izanagi’s words were true.
If they were, he might finally witness someone put the organization’s bully, Cobra, in his place.
“Got it. I’ll do my best to stop them from bothering you, but if Cobra steps in, I’ll likely need your help.” Kirov nodded, then left the room with his vice commander, entering the next room through the back entrance.
On the other hand, Ian temporarily resumed his training.
Soon, sounds of arguments echoed from the other room, with Kirov’s voice overpowering that of the Cobra squadron captains.
In the end, Kirov was a commander, and they were merely squadron captains.
They could only grit their teeth and clench their fists in frustration as Kirov reprimanded them.
Viper soon arrived to back her men up under Cobra’s orders.
To Kirov and Fino’s surprise, she merely apologized and took her men back to their training room.
This vice commander of Cobra’s was considered quite mysterious within the organization.
The only known fact about her was her extremely high combat prowess, though even that remained unproven to Kirov, as he had never actually seen her fight.
He only believed she was strong because the late Commander Hakkin had said so.
Unbeknownst to them, Viper actually dared to disregard Cobra’s orders.
She was sent to the other room to teach Kirov a lesson.
Naturally, upon her unexpectedly quick return, Cobra was furious.
“Viper, you b*tch… didn’t I order you to humiliate both Kirov and Fino?!” the commander raged.
However, the vice commander didn’t answer, merely bowing as if apologizing, though not a word of apology was spoken.
To the squad captains’ surprise, Cobra didn’t slap her.
Instead, he grabbed her wrists and took her to another room to talk privately.
‘Was there something going on between the two?’ was the thought in their minds.
With his grip still firm on his vice commander’s wrist, the commander pulled her forward upon entering the next room, positioning her directly in front of him.
This time, Viper spoke first.
“What?” the vice commander said, her tone icy. “I let it slide when you called me a b*tch, yet you still insist on picking a fight with me?”
Cobra clenched his fists in fury.
However, the words that came out of his mouth the next moment were ones no one would expect.
“I just needed you to create an opportunity for me to step in! What’s so hard about that?!”
He was like a kid who could only complain in indignation.
“You want me to flaunt my combat prowess and skills just to settle your dumb, pointless beef with Shye Crowley? Looks like you’re forgetting our deal. If you screw this up for me, I’ll destroy your soul—just like I promised. Don’t test me, Cobra. Unlike your bald old man, I don’t have to be lenient with you.”
Upon hearing his vice commander’s blatant threat, Cobra gritted his teeth so hard that they made cracking noises, but he didn’t dare retort and could only allow Viper to walk away.
