Chapter 861: Show Me The Future
Under the WAA Head Director’s horrified gaze, three heads simultaneously parted from their bodies.
Guard Captain Targon, Baradur Pentagon of the Holy Sword, and the renowned titled adventurer—Crimson Clover—didn’t even realize what had happened.
One moment, they were courageously leading the WAA’s elite guards; the next, the world suddenly spun, their vision gradually darkened, and the sounds around them grew silent.
Only Baradur Pentagon had the luxury of realizing his death, as his headless body momentarily came into view within his spinning head’s line of sight.
The one who killed Crimson Clover was naturally Shirley.
She didn’t even have to use her trump card to instantly slay the titled adventurer, as her unbelievably fast [Dash] skill caught the old warrior off-guard.
Saorus Calamitas of the Heaven’s Wrath was petrified.
His battle against Alpha Three, formerly Ian Izanagi of the Nightfall Requiem, replayed in his mind.
He couldn’t deny that he had simply lucked out that time, which was the only reason he managed to keep his life.
Was he going to risk his life in an unwinnable battle again?
Saorus didn’t want to, especially after scanning his eyes over the battlefield.
However, what he saw made his cowering heart waver.
Despite their morale plummeting and their hearts wavering after witnessing three of their leaders perish brutally, the remaining titled adventurers, champions, and guards fought on, honoring the oaths they had once sworn.
The sight of his comrades fighting to their deaths planted Saorus’ feet firmly on the ceramic ground.
They were currently being slaughtered like pigs after Targon fell, but they still fought.
The Yon Augenn mage hero finally managed to steel his resolve.
Saorus Calamitas of the Heaven’s Wrath shall fight till his last breath.
Unfortunately, as inspiring as his thoughts were, his final breath wasn’t far away, as Shye targeted him shortly after.
He had lasted more than thirty seconds against Ian, but against the legendary first hero of Valenzia, his fragile body was cleaved in half in just five seconds.
Another hero fell, just like that.
The ever-calm and logical Hale Eversong finally panicked upon realizing that his most trusted guard captain, along with two of his region’s pillars, had already fallen before a minute had even passed.
He couldn’t believe he still underestimated Commander Black Dawn despite multiple layers of precaution.
The next moment, Hale ordered the retreat from the seventh hall close to the east entrance of the main headquarters.
Without heroes to hold the fort, the head director was sure that his titled adventurers and champions would only be one-sidedly slaughtered by Shye and his men, hence deciding that it was better to regroup.
Meanwhile, in other parts of the city, the other units of the Yon Augenn Strike Force were already on the move.
Shye knew that the Chaos Unit’s operations were proceeding smoothly at the Hawkin Mansion, as his doppelganger was with them.
Balkan had already been slain, along with all five hundred Hawkin Guards, and the only obstacle keeping Commander Chaos and Vice Commander Feather from entering the main entrance of the Hawkin Group headquarters was the force of six hundred simulated Soul Warriors.
However, even they were being swiftly mowed down by Chaos, Feather, and Shye’s doppelganger.
In other words, everything was proceeding smoothly—perhaps too smoothly.
The Tigren Unit had already secured the Yon Augenn Broadcasting Station, while the Feng Unit had taken control of City Hall.

Half of their elites were already heading toward the nearest entrances of the massive underground Hawkin Group Headquarters to rendezvous with the Chaos Unit, leaving their vice commanders, along with half of their forces and thousands of low-ranked simulated raiders, to defend the two key establishment objectives.
In Valenzia, the Cobra, Grover, Hurkan, and Alicia Units, along with Ian, Seira, and Harry, were holding their ground well.
It seemed rather unlikely that reinforcements would arrive in Yon Augenn anytime soon.
The bullheaded Hadean Varsa commanders couldn’t help but sneer in disdain, thinking, ‘Is this it? The so-called Black Dragon Unsealing Operation, which was supposed to be so dangerous?’
On the other hand, although happy about the simulation operation’s progress, the smarter commanders like Maverick knew the actual operation wouldn’t be so easy.
This was especially true for Sanada, who knew just how far from realistic his invention was.
Unfortunately, it was the only way they could prepare for the real thing.
He was certain they would undoubtedly fail without at least three simulation practices before the actual operation day.
The old terrorist leader hoped they could at least familiarize themselves with the sequence of the operation and the timing of their attacks in relation to their comrades’, as this would give the commanders’ minds the extra mental space needed to respond to unexpected circumstances as efficiently and appropriately as possible.
After ten more minutes of pushing through inside the WAA Main Headquarters, Maverick and Shye’s elites finally made it to the third level, where Hale Eversong’s office was located.
However, their smooth advance was finally halted when they encountered the fiercest resistance from the WAA.
Five heroes, twelve titled adventurers, and eighteen champions stood before them, prepared to defend Hale Eversong to the death.
Although Saorus Calamitas and Baradur Pentagon had already fallen, Alexander Aphelion—whom Shye believed was the most dangerous out of all the Yon Augenn Heroes, was unfortunately still alive to hold the fort.
The young scout hero gazed at Shye coldly, his apathetic expression gone.
Maverick took a deep breath at the sight of the five heroes.
Each one of them could easily kill him.
Moreover, he was certain he wouldn’t survive the combined attacks of the champions and titled adventurers if they worked together to slay him, causing him to clench his fists in frustration at how powerless he felt in combat.
Were his son and his son’s captains truly strong enough to defeat such a formidable force of WAA agents and elites?
In fact, even Sanada didn’t know, which was why he programmed them to specifically band together in front of the Head Director’s office during this first simulation practice.
The old man wanted to test whether his trump card could pull through in such a crucial moment.
Sanada’s invention was far from perfect, as the simulations of the heroes were only based on the attributes of his own commanders, combined with the known skills and trump cards of the actual heroes.
For example, Alexander Aphelion was created using Ian’s attributes as a reference, with additional adjustments to increase the difficulty and accuracy of the simulation, meaning Sanada believed Alexander to be stronger than Ian.
Replicating their hidden aces and protective items was, of course, impossible.
However, to increase the effectiveness of the simulation, Sanada provided the simulations with their own protective items and skills, making it harder for Shye to defeat them.
Though these items and skills would differ and might even fall short of those possessed by the true versions of the heroes, the difficulty in killing them shouldn’t be too far off.
‘Now then, lad, show me the future.’
