Chapter 863: The Black Dragon Gate
Nothing special happened afterward.
It merely took a bit longer for Shye to kill the other heroes, as they realized it was futile to try and follow his movements.
In response, they preemptively used their defensive items and skills, praying fervently they could block his next attacks and be granted a chance to counterattack by the grace of the gods and goddesses.
The skills and items did indeed help them survive for quite a while.
However, they were still slaughtered helplessly in the end.
Only the archer hero, Skadi Lozano of the Frozen Impalement, managed to fight back against Shye—though he didn’t last more than twenty seconds before being killed, just the same.
Shye’s surpassing of the human body’s limits in agility was bad enough, but what truly sealed their fates was the lethal combination of his otherworldly strength, intelligence beyond comprehension, and agility that transcended human capabilities.
With the ultimate trio of offensive attributes firmly in his grasp, his outlandish toughness, endurance, and wisdom didn’t even have a chance to shine.
He already seemed unbeatable for mortal humans who didn’t have the aid of soul arts just from those three attributes.
Needless to say, dabbling in soul arts only gave one a chance to fight back against him; it didn’t mean they could achieve victory.
His ruthlessly slaying the simulated versions of the heroes without them lasting even a minute altogether was a testament to his horrifying might.
At this point, he was an unstoppable force of nature, created to carve Hadean Varsa’s path to victory.
He was Sanada Eiichiro’s ultimate killing machine.
The old man, of course, was extremely satisfied with his performance, and even though the terrorist leader had somewhat expected such combat prowess from him, watching him actually slaughter the simulated versions of the WAA agents allowed Sanada to see a glimpse of the future.
There was a fairly good chance that the Black Dragon Unsealing Operation would succeed.
Shye, who now had no one to stop him, rampaged across the battlefield, first helping David kill his opponents before proceeding to assist Maia, who was doing a bit better than his mage friend.
Nonetheless, although not as flashy as Shye’s, his captains’ performances were sure to shock a lot of doubters.
The WAA forces were soon wiped out and the operation went silky smooth from start to finish, but there was one thing the old terrorist leader wasn’t happy about: Maverick barely held on despite Shye’s outstanding performance.
This made Sanada deeply consider whether he should let his strategic commander join the battle or have him command the troops from a safer location.
The drawback to this arrangement, however, was that Maverick might struggle to effectively command without witnessing the situation firsthand.
‘We still have two more simulation practices anyway. I’ll see how he performs in the next operation, where the WAA agents will act as I expect them to, and then decide…’ Sanada thought, intending to use the second simulation to determine the best position for Maverick to maximize both efficiency and safety, while the third would serve to finalize everything.
With Shye, David, and Maia finishing off the three remaining titled adventurers and four champions attacking the head commander, the battle came to an end—though one particular duel was just about to conclude.
Everyone’s heads naturally turned to watch the heated battle between the simulated Alexander Aphelion of the Boundless Shadows and the former Shirley Locke of the Sanguine Eve.
It was a fiery one-on-one between two bright and extremely talented youngsters.
However, unlike their initial clash, one was spent, breathing heavily, while the other, though bruised and slightly injured, seemed relatively fine.
It was clear who was winning and who was losing.
Sure enough, after just a few moments, the exhausted Alexander Aphelion suffered a grievous wound—a brutally deep slash from his left shoulder nearly down to his gut.
He was almost cleaved in two.
Those from the Black Dawn Unit didn’t seem surprised by the outcome, but the members of the Maverick Unit were wide-eyed, staring at the bloody scene in utter disbelief.
They had heard tales of the Black Dawn Unit’s captains and commanders—monstrous figures, renowned for their exploits as young WAA agents.

However, none of them had expected their combat prowess to be this overwhelming.
It was one thing to become a hero at a young age, but quite another to rank so high in the hero power rankings at that age.
Even Alexander Aphelion, whom their organization had tried to assassinate countless times in the past without success, fell to the Black Dawn Unit Squad captain’s vicious blade.
A simulated version, but still.
The Supreme One’s imperfect version shouldn’t be too far from the original in terms of raw physical and mental attributes.
After wiping out the WAA’s final resistance thanks to Shye, the unsealing operation soon came to its final phase, which was also the most important one.
The key establishments were now firmly under Hadean Varsa’s control, and Alexander Aphelion had already been dealt with.
Only Dweezel and the Hawkin Group’s elites remained as obstacles to the simulated world’s victory over evil.
With no one left to threaten his father’s life, Shye decisively took Shirley and Maia with him and quickly headed toward the Hawkin Mansion to reinforce Chaos and his men, leaving only David and his elites to hold their captured position.
The unsealing scroll was in the safe confines of the system’s inventory.
Only he could unseal the draconic deity.
Although Shye could have swapped places with the doppelganger, he refrained, as it would be a waste of a life-saving move for mere fast-travel purposes.
Sprinting full-throttle with their massive stamina pools, the trio caught up with Chaos and his men in merely fifteen minutes.
Naturally, with Shye, Shirley, Maia, the doppelganger, Chaos, Commander Tigren, and Commander Feng all together, the Hadean Varsa Unsealing Force was unstoppable.
Horrifying monstrosities, created with the aid of soul arts, stood in their way—but none survived for more than thirty seconds.
Soon, they arrived on the thirtieth floor of the Hawkin Group’s underground headquarters, standing before a massive adamantite gate adorned with a carving of a dragon’s head.
Before the gate stood the final boss: Dweezel Hawkins.
Accompanying him was a small force of elites.
