Chapter 867: Teaching Old Dogs New Tricks—Unwanted Ones
“Hmph, I thought you were a lost cause,” Tigren snorted, turning to Chaos. “So, what’s the plan?”
Before Chaos could even respond, Shye butted in.
“What else? Of course, I’ll attack first. As if you two could even dent the barrier anyway…”
Once again, the two old heads were infuriated.
However, this time, they could only clench their fists, as even Tigren couldn’t think of an appropriate response.
They indeed failed to dent the barrier earlier.
While they were certain the golden protective dome would eventually run out of energy if they kept attacking it, the two old commanders had no idea when that would happen—leaving the simulated Dweezel free to cause more damage in the meantime.
Piercing through the barrier was undeniably more efficient.
“Hmph, stop yapping and just get to work.” Feng retorted coldly.
Shye chose to temporarily ignore the two stubborn geezers, a cold smile forming as a rather devious plan took shape in his mind.
‘Since you’re so eager to prove yourselves, I’ll give you the chance,’ he thought inwardly.
The next moment, Darky and Murky were covered with a translucent white aura as Shye lunged at the barrier.
‘Greater Dexterity, Power Slash, Boost, Boost, Boost!’
With his current physical attributes, he didn’t even need two charges of [Boost] to break his opponents’ bodies, whether they defended themselves or not.
Three charges were certainly overkill.
Such an attack could outright kill even a tough warrior wielding a peak-tier adamantite shield.
He had considered using his [Nightfall Reaper] to teach the bastards a harsher lesson, but they weren’t the only ones needing a proper lecture.
Besides, he wasn’t entirely sure if the barrier could withstand his strongest attack.
A [Power Slash] powered by three charges of [Boost] should be more than enough for them.
He also enhanced his attack speed with [Greater Dexterity], increasing the chances that the barrier’s counterattack would hit the two old fools.
With a single violent swing, the simulated Dweezel spat out a mouthful of blood as a massive crack appeared in his golden barrier.
However, another attacker would need to capitalize on it quickly before it could fully shatter.
Chaos naturally held back from making his move just yet.
After all, an attack of such ferocity—one that made the hairs on his body stand on end—was bound to trigger a counterattack of equal ferocity.
Confident as he was, Chaos wasn’t about to embarrass himself, especially when two old fools were so eager to offer themselves instead.
Commander Tigren and Commander Feng were also taken aback by Shye’s monstrous strength.
Unfortunately, the two old commanders didn’t have the same leeway as Chaos.
They were pressured to act, as it would be foolish not to after fighting so fiercely for the opportunity.
Tigren and Feng braved the barrier’s dangers together.
Tigren sprinted from the left while Feng approached from the right, both heading straight for the regenerating crack.

In their minds, even if one of them fell, destroying the barrier would still count as a victory.
The two old heads closed the gap almost instantly, their bodies gleaming with a protective silver sheen as they activated their defensive skills.
Unfortunately, they had overlooked one crucial detail: Shye’s twin greatsword attack didn’t count as just a single strike.
The winds howled menacingly as a golden slash tore through them, moving at a speed far beyond what any mere human could react to.
As a result, before the two old fools even realized what had happened, their bodies were sliced vertically in half, collapsing into a puddle of their own flesh and blood—though these were only their simulated bodies.
Commander Feng and Commander Tigren now found themselves in the safe confines of the waiting corner.
Nonetheless, seeing their dead bodies on the screen was utterly humiliating for the two old men.
Great.
After causing a ruckus about how four would be better than two, they went ahead and got themselves killed.
A loud, metallic bang then echoed through the waiting corner in the next moment, making the elites’ hearts race slightly as they watched Commander Feng punch a hole through the metallic wall.
The old commander was utterly furious.
It didn’t take long for Commander Tigren, barely holding himself together, to do the same upon seeing Chaos finally step in and shatter the barrier, exposing the now defenseless, simulated old snake.
Were the two working together to humiliate them?!
Of course, that wasn’t the case, as Chaos would be satisfied as long as one side was thoroughly humiliated after a heated discussion.
It was one of Chaos’ favorite twisted hobbies, skillfully honed through years of instigation.
If Shye found himself on the brink of humiliation, the eccentric commander would undoubtedly side with Feng and Tigren and strive to amplify his embarrassment.
It just so happened that he was winning.
Chaos definitely doesn’t take sides out of pure hatred for the other party.
Dweezel had one last trump card, however, that would allow him to transform into a twelve-foot-tall monstrous Soul Warrior, radiating a menacing purple soul aura.
But unfortunately, against the joint efforts of Shye and Chaos, the hulking monstrosity that was the simulated old snake was eventually cut down.
The two commanders’ superior combat prowess kept the monstrosity from landing a single hit.
Both might even dare to say it was an easy battle, as the attacks of the monstrous Soul Warrior were too easy to dodge for the slippery duo.
Shye, to show off, earn a few more points with the Hadean Varsa elites, and further humiliate the stubborn old fools, even dared to block an attack from the transformed old snake using his black adamantite-tier shield, though he needed some help from his [Stoic] skill.
Nonetheless, he stood firm and successfully blocked the attack without being pushed back.
His defense was a glorious sight to behold.
With the collapse of the monstrous Soul Warrior version of the simulated Dweezel, the Hawkin Group’s final stand came to an end.
Shye then quickly entered the sealed black dragon’s chamber and stood in the center of an enormous black magic circle.
Unfortunately, the chamber and the slumbering black dragon weren’t very realistic, so Shye lost interest in sightseeing.
He decided to just proceed and quickly simulate the unsealing of the black dragon according to the procedure in the scroll, solely for the purpose of practicing it.
