Chapter 877: One Last Broadcast
“Heh, why are you challenging my underling, weren’t you talking tough to me in the commanders’ meeting?” Shye coldly retorted, stepping in for his underling and close friend.
Seira was both relieved and a bit sad.
Nonetheless, she also felt that a mere unknown squadron captain like herself facing Cobra wouldn’t be an exciting match.
Even if she somehow managed to beat the troublemaker, it might only cause the other members of the Valenzia Strike Force to lose trust in him, which would likely lower their morale.
Yep; her boss fighting Cobra was the best course of action here.
Unbeknownst to the midget, while it was true that defeating Cobra would have been difficult, it wasn’t impossible.
Shye would have allowed her to fight the troublemaker, had it not been for his personal grudge against the bastard.
He wouldn’t let anyone disrespect his father and get away with it.
Furthermore, he had another agenda: to earn points.
Shye consulted Sanada regarding his need for 3,700,000 points to unlock the option to upgrade the system to level 5.
He also shared his plan with the old terrorist leader on how he intended to earn such a substantial amount.
Fortunately, the old man agreed, coming clean with Shye that he didn’t have the capability to grant him points through quests anymore, claiming he had run out of “supplies”.
The two would discuss the matter about the shortage later after the event.
For now, Shye had at least received permission from Sanada to proceed with his plan of broadcasting his battle with Cobra to the world, confident that the WAA would allow it to continue on his channel.
After all, Hadean Varsa would only be revealing their cards in the broadcast—so why not let it go on?
Only, there was a condition: he couldn’t let Chaos know of his arrangements, as the bastard would definitely make things “more interesting” than they should be, possibly causing more headaches for Sanada.
With only one old man and one ashen-haired young man in the know, a battle between two notorious terrorist commanders was broadcast to the world.
Naturally, Sanada ensured that the WAA wouldn’t be able to trace their location.
…Cobra turned his head and looked at Shye, who just butted in, with a cold gaze, his eyes narrowing.
He had expected things to go down this path and had already made a few ‘preparations’ for it anyway, so why would he chicken out?
If Shye Crowley wanted to fight him, then so be it!
“You? Heh, you think I’m scared of you because of your feats against mere simulations?” Cobra sneered.
“Hahahaha! I didn’t say anything about that, so why are you bringing it up? Are you perhaps…intimidated?” Shye laughed, walking to the center of the circle.
The function hall’s simulation system then scanned him, creating a simulation copy that would take the fall for him should anything go awry and he met his end.
“BULLSHIT!” Cobra roared, stepping inside the circle in the middle of the vast hall and drawing his greatsword-sized cutlass.
It was only when he was already charging towards Shye that the system managed to form a simulation copy of him.
Had Shye killed him within that time frame, Cobra would’ve really lost his life.
Sanada was quite fortunate that no such thing happened.
Nonetheless, the battle was already underway before the onlookers could prepare their hearts.
To their surprise, Cobra moved way differently than how he did during the recording.

‘Was the troublesome commander hiding his true strength?’
None knew, and even Chaos narrowed his eyes at the scene that was unfolding.
He was familiar with Cobra’s speed and power.
The commander was certainly not this fast in the past.
A brown blur streaked across the vast dueling space as Cobra dashed forward, closing the distance with Shye in mere seconds.
Shye, however, wasn’t fazed one bit and merely sneered at his opponent, doing the same thing as him shortly after.
With his combat performance increased by leaps and bounds, Cobra could follow Shye with his eyes.
They clashed the next moment, an ear-splitting metallic noise echoing across the hall as the cutlass met the two greatswords.
To Cobra’s horror, his cutlass was chipped slightly, and his arm suddenly felt numb after just one exchange.
Blood, a result of a minor internal injury, began making its way to his throat.
All of this from a single clash.
The troublemaker couldn’t tell if his opponent suffered the same, but from the frown on Black Dawn’s face, it seemed he had at least managed to hurt the bastard to some degree.
Shye most definitely wasn’t hurt.
However, he was shocked that Cobra managed to withstand his strength.
Although he didn’t use any skills, it was still a feat for a human like Cobra to fight with him on equal terms, causing unexplainable excitement to course through Shye’s body.
Could he truly feel the thrill of an equal fight once more?
He wasn’t familiar with Cobra’s true strength, so he simply assumed that Cobra was this strong physically.
Shye was beginning to have fun fighting the troublemaker that he almost forgot his initial goal.
Nonetheless, his opponent’s unexpected strength gave him time.
After the first clash, Cobra didn’t dare move forward recklessly, circling and observing Shye first to look for signs of weakness.
Meanwhile, inside a luxurious white-and-blue-themed office, an old man looked at the holographic screen with his aide.
“Marley, what do you think is the purpose of this farce?”
Hale couldn’t understand Hadean Varsa’s motive for broadcasting the battle, and he struggled to make a decision whether to allow it to continue or not.
With every passing second, viewership numbers ramped up, reaching five hundred thousand viewers as news of the long-dormant channel of Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn sent out notifications for a broadcast, making one last wave across the world.
As viewers told their friends, and those friends spread the word to even more, around a million and a half people were watching the broadcast from all over the world by the two-minute mark, and it didn’t stop there.
WAA agents not currently on a mission naturally tuned in to the broadcast.
After all, it was their job to fend off terrorist attacks, and understanding their enemies’ abilities and combat prowess was essential for victory.
