Chapter 881: I’m No Saint
Shye smirked as coldly as he could; it looked as though he was venting his anger by doing so.
“What are you even asking after attempting to take my life, you dumb f*ck?” he frigidly answered, causing a chill to crawl down Cobra’s spine. “Did you really think we were equals? How about I let you in on a little secret?”
Meanwhile, outside the domain, Sanada did his best to break through Shye’s purple world of swords.
Unfortunately, despite making progress, it seemed the sword domain would only shatter after five seconds of relentless void attacks.
It would be too late by then.
“CHAOS, KIROV, FEATHER, TIGREN, GROVER, HURKAN, ALICIA, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?! QUICK, HELP ME DESTROY THIS DOMAIN!” the old terrorist leader shouted urgently, his voice filled with panic, causing even the hearts of Chaos and the others to race.
From his reaction, it was clear that someone was about to die.
‘Sh*t!’ Chaos thought inwardly before springing into action the next moment.
Twisted as he was, he genuinely did not want the operation to fail.
Chaos recognized he might’ve played around too much this time.
Naturally, Alicia and the other commanders who were mentioned immediately lunged at the domain, attacking it with the strongest of skills.
Their attempts quickly bore fruit.
Within a second and a half, the cracks grew larger, connecting with each other and finally shattering the borders of the sword realm.
However, what they witnessed made their hearts sink and their blood run cold.
Raised in the air was a dead body, a greatsword lodged deep into its left chest, likely destroying the heart and ending the man’s life.
In just a second and a half, Cobra was dead.
Even the dumber ones among the elites immediately realized that Shye was holding back in the battle earlier.
If not, then how could he, who was down two trump cards, kill Cobra before eight apex-level individuals could destroy the purple dome’s walls?
“SHYE CROWLEY!!” Sanada exclaimed in utter fury, reappearing in front of Shye and grabbing him by the collar. “WHY DID YOU KILL COBRA?! DIDN’T I ALREADY TELL YOU HE’S VITAL TO THE OPERATION?!”
In response, Shye merely stared at the terrorist leader with a cold, unapologetic gaze.
“Old man, this is not the place to talk.” Chaos butted in.
This time, his expression was serious. The commander couldn’t help but feel slightly guilty.
Chaos’s warning brought a semblance of logic back to Sanada’s mind, momentarily halting his anger.
The old man took a deep breath before announcing,
“Everyone is dismissed for now. Cobra Unit, remain in the function hall and await further orders. Your temporary commander will be Viper. As for the other units, you are free to choose any room. No one is to leave the main headquarters without my orders.”
The surroundings then changed for Shye and all the commanders the next instant.
With a snap of his fingers, Sanada brought everyone to the leadership meeting room.
Upon arrival, the old man immediately shifted his focus back to the young man in his grasp, fixing him with a cold gaze.
Now that they were in an appropriate place to talk, Shye responded:
“Old man, your occasional stupidity amuses me.”

Naturally, the old veterans like Tigren and Grover flared up, spittle flying as they rebuked him.
“Preposterous! You dare speak to the Supreme One with such disrespect?”
“First, you killed your comrade, and now you even dare to disrespect your superiors! Do you truly think you’re invincible?!”
Shye turned his head, glaring at the two geezers with a hint of killing intent to intimidate them after hearing their words.
He then grasped Sanada’s elderly wrist and freed himself from the old leader’s grip easily.
After all, there was no way the old mage hero could match him in terms of strength.
“Should I have just let him try to kill me and mess with me every time, then?” Shye said, his tone sharp.
“Even a saint’s patience has limits.”
He glanced at Sanada the next moment before pointing at Cobra’s corpse in the corner of the meeting room.
“Old man, you know me. You know how patient I’ve been with that idiot. He tried to take my life earlier because he couldn’t accept his loss. What did you think was going to happen? I’m no saint.”
The old terrorist leader found himself at a loss for words to refute Shye.
After all, he knew Shye well.
Cobra had sealed his fate the moment he dared to make an attempt on the young man’s life with malicious intent.
Sanada was simply frustrated—frustrated that, despite knowing there was a high chance of this happening, he still couldn’t prevent it.
Maverick and Alicia were also at a loss for words.
They wanted to reprimand their son for killing someone, but they remembered that from the moment Shye joined the cause, he was destined to kill thousands, if not millions of people from the opposing faction.
One dumb bastard didn’t make much difference.
Their hearts just ached as they witnessed how easily their son could take a life, showing no guilt or remorse afterward which meant that he had done this multiple times already..
How many people had their son already killed for him to be this indifferent?
The couple, too, was now indifferent to killing, but they only achieved it after taking the lives of a few hundred people.
This could only mean their son had done the same.
…Or their son was simply a cursed psychopath who enjoyed murdering people, though it was highly unlikely based on his reaction.
“S-Still, that doesn’t mean you’re allowed to kill Cobra!” Grover shot back, unwilling to let Shye have the last word.
“Now that he’s gone, who will take his place? Can you even find someone capable of filling such a powerful commander’s shoes? And how will you take responsibility for this loss to the organization?!”
Shye, however, merely laughed uproariously in response.
“Hahahaha! A powerful commander? Didn’t you see how easily I slaughtered him, even with my strongest skills on cooldown? I think even the dumbest person would recognize that I merely went easy on him in the duel.
And by the way, do you want to know what I’ve discovered? After killing that dumb bastard, I sensed a soul contract dissipating—and I’m sure as hell it’s not Hadean Varsa’s.”
