Chapter 883: Purged of Moles
Unfortunately for Viper, how could help from hundreds of miles away arrive first than those who are in the same building?
The inevitable nightmarish scene that crossed her mind every once in a while finally played out in front of her.
Sanada, along with eighteen Hadean Varsa Commanders, returned to the function hall, coldly staring at him.
‘I have to buy time!’ she thought.
Although inwardly panicking, Viper tried her best to remain calm, deciding to do whatever it took to buy herself time.
She couldn’t even take a deep breath, as seasoned individuals like Sanada would immediately detect her unease if she did so.
“So, what do you have to say for yourself, mole?” Tigren asked with the coldest of tones.
He, for one, abhorred traitors far more than arrogant brats.
“Supreme One, I suggest we waste no time and immediately capture Viper. Throwing her into the void prison would be best! We can’t risk discovering what hidden cards or sinister tricks this traitor might still have up her sleeve.” another commander said, clearly worried about Viper’s formidable combat abilities.
The commander called Brann had a point.
What if Viper decided to throw all caution to the wind and take one commander down with her?
More commanders voiced their support for Brann’s suggestion, causing the woman—who, like Kirov, was in her early thirties—to panic even more.
However, despite her internal turmoil, her exterior remained as composed as ever.
What Viper didn’t know was that no help was coming, as even her distress signal had been intercepted by the Main Headquarters’ lockdown mechanism.
She was hopelessly waiting for something that would never arrive.
Seeing that everyone was urging Sanada to capture her immediately and throw her into the void prison, Viper knelt, hoping to twist the facts and confuse the commanders through words.
With how stupid some of them were, she believed she could fool a few to take her side, especially now that Cobra was gone.
She was strong.
However, she knew better than to fight with Chaos, Shye Crowley, and Sanada standing right in front of her.
Viper’s mouth opened, ready to spit venomous lies, but instead, she felt blood rise in her throat.
A dagger had been driven into her neck before she could even react.
‘H..ow?…’
The mole was in utter disbelief.
After all, she, too, was among those at the apex in terms of combat prowess.
How could she not even manage to react to an opening attack?
To make things worse for her, it seemed that the dagger that was lodged in her throat was infused with a lethal poison that prevented her from even moving.
‘…who?’
She at least wanted to know who killed her.
Fortunately, she got what she wanted as a familiar voice sounded close to her ear.
Viper had already gone blind due to the poison. However, she would never mistake the voice.

“Aihh, you all talk about capturing her this and throwing her into prison that… why not just kill her? It would eliminate any threat she poses, wouldn’t it?”
Sanada couldn’t decide fast enough, so Chaos decided for him.
However, the old man was once again furious, displeased with what had just happened.
“Chaos! Why did you kill her?! We could have used her for so many things!” Tigren reprimanded furiously, voicing Sanada’s thoughts.
In just one day, the old terrorist leader had been pushed to the brink, his aged heart almost unable to bear the stress.
This was why he didn’t lash out at Chaos, despite his right-hand man’s sudden dumb action.
“I know that, but keeping her alive gives her more chances to f*ck everything up, no? I’m sure she was about to spout lies that would’ve confused some of you guys just now!” the eccentric commander defended himself.
Chaos’ words made sense.
However, it made way more sense to keep Viper alive.
Unfortunately, things had already happened, and the dead couldn’t be brought back.
Hadean Varsa could only work with what they had now.
Well, that was the original plan anyway, and they should be glad the mole was gone—though it was indeed a waste for her to die like that.
She could’ve been a double agent for Hadean Varsa.
Sanada didn’t know why Chaos instantly killed Viper, but he was weary of everything that happened today.
Hence, the old man decided to rest early for the day and continue thinking about tomorrow, as it would be bad to make decisions with an unstable state of mind.
Like a ghost, Sanada vanished into the void without a single word.
Tigren, however, did not let Chaos go so easily, though, strangely, Grover didn’t join him in reprimanding Chaos this time.
It was only with Maverick’s intervention that the two stopped a few minutes later, the reason being that the lost and confused Cobra elites were watching.
With both of their commanders dying on the same day, most of them had lost their will to fight.
This was what Sanada feared the most.
“Cobra elites, you will remain in the Main Headquarters for a week. By then, we promise you will be assigned an appropriate commander and vice commander,” Maverick announced, taking the reins as the old man seemed to have exhausted his mental energy for the day.
No one was there to lead them anyway, so they might as well listen to anyone.
They, too, did not have the heart and mood to cause trouble today.
Both of their pillars were now gone.
How could they possibly dare to disrespect any other commander and unit on their own?
Even the strongest captain among them, Hylos, who was just as much of a troublemaker as Cobra, didn’t dare to disrespect Maverick, despite being stronger than him.
The operation simulation day had started perfectly.
Unfortunately, it ended in an utter mess, leaving one of their strongest units lost and leaderless.
Moreover, Commander Feng of the Feng Unit was humiliated and likely depressed.
There was even a small chance that he might turn traitor, given how traumatizing the event was for such an inflexible old man.
‘Sigh… How did things turn out this way?’ Maverick sighed.
The next moment, he turned to Shye and the others, motioning for dismissal.
Soon, the commanders separated and returned to their respective units.
Unbeknownst to them, a certain eccentric commander wore a subtle smile as he left, muttering,
“That should be it. Game over, old man.”
