Chapter 887: Siege of Valenzia (1)
*BANG!*
A loud bang echoed across the wide halls of the WAA Valenzia Headquarters as an old man, huffing and puffing in exhaustion and panic, pushed the enormous door open with no regard for manners.
Usually, Henry wouldn’t do this.
However, with their city’s current situation, informing Director Belford even a millisecond earlier was more important.
“M-Milord! T-T-The terrorists! They’re working with the flight dragons and invading the city’s gates as we speak!” Henry reported with a shaking voice.
While sprinting toward his lord’s office, the old man caught a glimpse of the attack through the tall window on the second-floor staircase leading to the third floor.
The scene was nothing short of an impending apocalypse.
Somewhere in the back of his mind, Henry doubted their ability to defend the city from the attack, but he didn’t dare indulge such thoughts.
Valenzia City—the bastion of hope for the adventurers of the Valenzia Region—could not fall.
No.
They couldn’t allow it to.
Fortunately for him, his lord was of the same mind, though the old director’s reaction to his report couldn’t be farther from the word dependable.
“WHAT?! THE BASTARDS DARE?!” Belford roared in fury, failing to fully grasp the severity of the situation. “Call Midnight Fang, Piercing Zephyr, Radiant Sentinel, Elysia Iceborne of the Eternal Frost, and all the champions who aren’t on a mission, now!”
Henry instinctively wanted to object to the order.
Unfortunately, his anxious mind and fearful old heart left him unable to either defy his superior or articulate a well-constructed explanation as to why he believed the order was flawed.
The old aide wanted to argue that defending the city with only their agents wouldn’t be enough.
They needed reinforcements from other regions—and they needed them fast if they were to prevent the city from falling into the hands of the terrorists!
Fortunately, one of the mentioned agents arrived just moments after Henry’s report.
“Old man, I’ll do my best to slaughter the invading bastards, but just me, Midnight Fang, Radiant Sentinel, and those incompetent champions won’t be enough to defend the city for long.
Call for reinforcements—the sooner they arrive, the better.” Elysia spoke in a calm, collected manner, though the frigid undertones of her words betrayed her composed exterior.
Beneath the surface, she was seething with anger.
Henry was rather lucky that she arrived on time. Otherwise, they would’ve wasted precious time.
Almost immediately, things veered off from Sanada’s estimates, as Belford wasted no time in following Elysia’s advice.
Reinforcements would arrive sooner than anticipated.
City Lord Blas, of course, also made his move, personally heading to reinforce the south gate with 500 of the city’s most elite guards in tow.
It was a meager—possibly futile—attempt to prevent the terrorists from breaching the city, a small effort in the face of overwhelming odds.
But what else could he do?
The command of the WAA agents ultimately fell in Belford’s hands.
Fortunately, the response from the WAA Valenzia headquarters was swift, with even Midnight Fang, Radiant Sentinel, and a few champions on standby arriving without the need for a summons.
Unfortunately, Piercing Zephyr was away on a mission and couldn’t be contacted.

They would have to make do with whoever was available.
After a few instructions from Elysia, the agents dispersed, heading towards their assigned locations.

Multiple footsteps echoed through the now-chaotic streets of Valenzia City.
With the flight of dragons clearing the way for the Valenzia Strike Force, the Black Dawn, Alicia, Grover, and Hurkan Units infiltrated the city with unmatched ease and speed.
The elites and raiders from the subordinate organizations were now inside, their path marked by the lifeless bodies of numerous guards at the gates.
“Captain Hylos, take your squadron and wipe out the adventurers on Seventh Street. If possible, just incapacitate them instead,” Ian ordered
“Roger, Vice Commander Izanagi!”
Now that they had absorbed the Cobra Unit, the Black Dawn Unit’s role expanded beyond simply providing strong combatants to reinforce the commanders and captains of the main units.
They were now one of the main units themselves, tasked with assisting the Alicia Unit and taking control of the WAA Valenzia Headquarters.
Ian, along with Hylos, Harry, and a few other captains from the former Cobra Unit, were en route to capture Belford.
Maia was with them as well, entrusted with placing Detain’s fragile core in one of the prepared locations—locations that had been changed by the old man for fear that Viper had already leaked the information to Dweezel.
If the core were destroyed sooner than expected, the Yon Augenn Strike Force would be in deep trouble.
Shye wanted to keep both her and Shirley by his side, but unfortunately, his little sister was needed elsewhere.
Since she was assigned in Valenzia, then he could roll with it.
After all, Ian, Seira, his mother, and his other trusted aides were there.
There shouldn’t be any need to worry about her safety.
Well, as long as the operation went as smoothly as it had in their simulations, though that would be impossible.
In any case, the Valenzia Strike Force was at least permitted to retreat.
Their role was far safer than the no-retreat, no-surrender role of the Yon Augenn Strike Force.
In the previous simulation practices, the Black Dawn forces responsible for taking the WAA Valenzia Headquarters managed to do so faster than the Cobra Unit had in the first simulation.
It was unfortunate that things were never meant to go as they did in the practice runs.
After slaughtering their way toward the center of the city, Ian and his men—along with the Hylos squadron, who had just returned after killing half the adventurers and incapacitating the rest on Seventh Street—arrived at a strangely silent area, where only their footsteps could be heard.
Ian and Maia activated their reconnaissance skills.
They detected a few anomalies in the area, such as a strange cobblestone block protruding from the otherwise regular street, and hollow spaces behind the walls of certain establishments.
“Vice Comma–”
Unfortunately, before Maia could even report her findings, an enormous red cube suddenly materialized around them, trapping over a thousand elites and raiders inside—including those sprinting beside them on the adjacent street.
They had fallen into a trap.
