Chapter 892: Siege of Valenzia (6)
‘Damn it! Damn it all!’ Elysia inwardly cursed as the overall state of the battle had been made clear to her by Belford. ‘My city can’t fall…not to these cursed scoundrels!!’
As per the old director, the Valenzia Broadcasting Office had already been captured and only Midnight Fang survived the encounter, retreating with his remaining three hundred men to the west of the city.
They planned to hide until reinforcements arrived.
The area near the west gate was also highly dangerous, as the elites under the Hadean Varsa Commander, Grover Khan, had entered the city quite some time ago and were on the verge of capturing Valenzia City Hall.
The WAA reinforcements that arrived from the city square were fiercely battling Commander Hurkan Clydes and his elites, but it seemed their resistance wouldn’t hold for much longer.
She and her defenders were also on the brink of defeat.
If no heroes from other regions arrived soon, the city would fall to the terrorists.
Fortunately, the heavens seemed to have eyes today, for just as she thought about the arrival of the second, more significant batch of reinforcements, they appeared.
Around 500 meters from the WAA Valenzia Headquarters, blinding rays of azure light touched the ground and captured everyone’s attention—thin beams signified solo teleportations, while thick ones indicated mass teleportation.
Hope blossomed in the mage heroine’s heart at the sight.
Raising her right hand skyward, Elysia conjured a thin, angled plate of ice above her, perfectly positioned to reflect the area where the lights had landed.
‘Finally!’
Indeed, the lights were the second batch of reinforcements from the capital of other regions.
From the icy reflection, Elysia estimated there were around four to five thousand guards, though three thousand of them appeared to be merely standard ones.
Nonetheless, any assistance was most welcome.
As for the agent reinforcements, there were nine heroes as requested, along with fourteen titled adventurers and thirty champions—both slightly short of the requested numbers.
However, since the deficiencies were minimal, Elysia was satisfied.
She understood that most of them were likely on duty outside the city and that this was probably the most the other regions could spare.
After all, they had their own territories to protect.
The situation was now far from hopeless; in fact, the wind now shifted in their favor.
With such an abundance of competent reinforcements, Elysia was confident they could prevent the city from falling, hopefully buying enough time for the third wave of reinforcements to arrive.
Though this next group would consist mostly of conscripted adventurers and perhaps seven to nine additional heroes, their arrival would undoubtedly seal the fate of the battle.
Elysia herself had only about 700 elite guards and 2,500 standard guards behind her—what remained of the WAA headquarters’ forces.
She couldn’t request more from the Valenzia City Hall, as they, too, were barely holding on.
Nonetheless, the mage heroine stood tall, her back as straight as a spear, facing the tide of 1,700 Hadean Varsa elites and 2,000 raiders from various other organizations with a confident grin on her face.
The current situation was grim, but the near future held boundless hope.
As if to confirm what was on the mage heroine’s mind, there was a frown on Ian’s face as his eyes locked onto the WAA forces defending the gates of the Valenzia Headquarters.
They were both weaker and outnumbered. They also just suffered a recent defeat.
Yet, their morale was sky-high.
‘This isn’t good…we wouldn’t be able to defeat them as quickly as we expected…’ the vice commander thought grimly.

However, if there was one word to describe Ian, it was that he was ‘bold’.
He could make big decisions on the fly with unwavering resolve to see them through to the end.
He could also be described as ‘brave’, in a way.
“Captain Maia.” Ian sternly called out.
“Yes, Vice Commander?” the ashen-haired little sister replied with a comically serious response that didn’t suit her.
She didn’t look serious but she was, really.
“Take your squad and head to one of the five hiding spots. Prepare to activate the device but wait for my orders. Stay hidden near the spot until I give the signal. I’ll leave the choice of hiding spot to your judgment.”
Equally fearless was Maia, and with a decisive nod, she signaled for her subordinate scout squadron to follow her.
They broke away from the unit, carrying the tide-turning device securely in her spatial bag.
The weight of responsibility was immense, yet not a hint of nervousness showed on her face.
It was as if she had complete faith in her ability to succeed and carry out the mission with absolute certainty.
The former Cobra elites couldn’t help but admire her for a while as she sprinted off with her squad.
It didn’t take them long, however, to refocus on the task at hand, as their commander gave the order to advance moments later.
With a passionate warcry, the Hadean Varsa elites surged forward.
Captain Hylos, following Ian’s orders, activated his trump card—an aura skill called [Frontline Hero], which temporarily boosted the raw physical attributes of everyone within ten meters behind him.
Hence, despite the WAA’s sturdy and high-morale defensive formation, the Black Dawn elites overwhelmed them.
For the first few seconds of the battle, at least.
After their first two rows of shielders were decimated, the WAA defenders, under Elysia’s leadership, managed to stabilize the situation with an aura skill provided by their guard squadron captain, Gaundarr.
Although the skill was inferior to the one Hylos had used, it still offered a substantial boost.
The WAA guard-exclusive skill, [Citadel of Order], did the rest.
Soon, the battle entered a stalemate.
‘Tch, these damned tenacious shitheads…’ Ian cursed inwardly.
He knew that enemy reinforcements were on their way, and if they wanted to complete the mission objectives as planned, he and his men had to capture the Valenzia Headquarters before those reinforcements arrived.
Failing to do so would allow the enemy to use the WAA’s special channels to communicate, enabling other regions to monitor events within the city with precision and respond accordingly.
The enemies maintaining their composure was the last thing Hadean Varsa wanted.
They needed to secure the element of panic, though unbeknownst to them, the less-than-composed Belford was already aiding them in achieving this goal.
In any case, Ian was determined to accomplish what he was tasked to do.
The first step to achieving this goal was performing a strange series of hand seals.
Moments later, the vice commander completed the final seal, summoning black, illusory runes that hovered ominously in the air.
A murderous grin then spread across Ian’s face as the entire world was consumed by darkness.
