Chapter 894: Colzen In Chaos
Blaring alarms, the likes of which students in academy cities around the world rarely heard, reverberated across a certain prestigious academy south of the Valenzia Region.
The Colzen Academy students’ hearts inevitably raced at the sudden, anxiety-inducing sound.
They had, after all, never heard the school’s alarms activate with such intensity.
To the faint-hearted students, it sounded as though the world was ending.
A few even screamed in panic.
“Second- and first-year Colzen Academy students, follow your Survival Lecture Instructors and take shelter in the bunkers beneath the academy grounds. The city is under attack by terrorists,” announced a monotone voice through mana-powered speakers.
“Third-year students, report to Instructor Brodley and help guard the academy gates.”
“Fourth-year students, assemble at the training grounds; the deans will meet with you shortly.”
Colzen Academy naturally plunged into chaos at the news of a terrorist attack.
They just learned that Valenzia City had fallen into the hands of Hadean Varsa, and now, their very own Colzen City was under attack.
How could their developing city stand its ground against such an unholy hegemon?
Perhaps…perhaps they would end up as prisoners…or maybe worse!
Even the fourth-year students were shaking.
However, as seniors, they had to protect the younger students.
Talk about a sudden military enlistment…
Although unwilling, the fourth-year students, including this year’s chosen representatives for the Adventurer Academy Competition, assembled at the training grounds.
There, the four deans were already waiting for them with stern looks.
The most serious they had ever appeared in front of the students.
“As you all know, the city is being attacked by terrorists.” Dean Snowcrest stated, nary a hint of fear in his voice.
The students gulped at his words. They were naturally nervous.
After all, they would be fighting cold-blooded murderers, while they…they were skilled and talented, but inexperienced.
Some of them had already killed a few people, and it was immediately evident who those people were.
Most of the seven representatives had indifferent looks on their faces.
Except for the summoned priest representative of Colzen Monastery, of course.
The poor young man was shaking like the rest.
Among these seven, there was a face that might be familiar to Shye—a young girl.
The young female warrior representative was Sarra, the daughter of a mundane town mayor whom he had saved in the past from bandit-like adventurers seeking to take advantage of her.
Shye was her respected idol, and even now, after his revelation as a terrorist commander, she was among the extremely few who believed he had a valid reason for joining an organization like Hadean Varsa.
Nevertheless, she despised terrorists to her core, as they reminded her of those who had once tried to assault her when she was weak and vulnerable.
She couldn’t wait to slaughter the invaders of the city that had given her and her parents a hopeful future.

Only her benefactor was exempted from her wrath.
Based on her cold reaction to the dean’s words, this wasn’t her first time killing, and she might have even killed a bit too much for someone her age.
“I know most of you are scared to face the most notorious terrorist organization in the world,” the dean continued.
“However, fret not. Who you will be facing are run-of-the-mill terrorists hired by Hadean Varsa to cause chaos while they attempt to accomplish their true objectives elsewhere. As for what those objectives are, I do not know.
But you only need to focus on fighting as a team of seven.
Your job is to help the city guards chase the bastards away. Also, every kill will be worth one point for those involved—just be sure to present proof of your kills. Captured enemies, however, will be worth two points per team member.”
The anxious looks on the faces of the students froze upon hearing Dean Snowcrest’s subsequent words.
They usually only earn a point each for an entire mission filled with fighting dangerous monstrous creatures in the intermediate and advanced adventurer zones.
But this…they could earn the same amount while in the city?
What if their team managed to kill three terrorists? That would mean earning the equivalent of three dangerous missions outside the academy in just a single day, wouldn’t it?
Also, the dean said the enemies weren’t Hadean Varsa but mere run-of-the-mill, countryside bandits.
Some of the fourth-year students had already encountered a few in the past and were confident they could hold their own and win in a duel—let alone when fighting as part of a team of seven.
They wouldn’t dare say it would be easy.
However, compared to the dangerous missions, this was indeed quite a fair bit easier.
Slowly, the fearful expressions on the faces of the students changed into excited grins.
This was what the warrior dean was aiming for.
Seeing that their plan worked, the deans inwardly smiled, though their faces remained stern.
With this, only a few—or perhaps none at all—would die among their excellent fourth-year students.
The four deans were confident of their students’ combat prowess.
The issue was that they were too young and inexperienced, and might very well fall to the ruthless blades and bows of the terrorists, unsettled by the thought of facing a cold-blooded murderer.
“Me and Dean Vanz, along with your combat instructors, will join the fray alongside you and do our utmost to watch your backs while purging the city of these scourges. Fight with all your heart, and if you can, enjoy yourselves. That’s all. Now then, brightest students of the Fourth Kingly Academy, follow me—Sven Snowcrest.”
Now pumped, the fourth-year students followed their deans as they grouped up with their hunting parties.
A slight smile on their faces.
Soon, the Colzen Defender Army, consisting of fourth-year students, combat instructors, and the four deans, arrived at the academy gates.
The awestruck and respectful gazes of the third-year students tasked to guard the academy from invading further fueled the fighting spirit of the fourth-years.
Two of the deans separated from the group to help the third-year students while Dean Snowcrest and Dean Vanz of the scout course continued, the former turning around to face his students.
“Now then, my respected staff and beloved students, let’s show these mongrels the mistake they made today. To battle!”
