Chapter 896: Unsealing Operation: Phase Two (2)
Eight WAA directors, despite being separated by regional borders, were simultaneously gritting their teeth in utter fury.
Great.
They’ve been baited into sending reinforcements again.
All eight of them attempted calling their heroes to ask about the situation in Valenzia and to request their immediate return, but none of the calls went through.
It seems that Hadean Varsa’s plan runs very deep this time.
If even communication was jammed, they doubted their agents could teleport back.
At least not anytime soon.
Gritting their teeth, the directors barked their orders, some calmer than others, though most had a seed of unease in their hearts.
Hadean Varsa had an undefeated streak.
Although they rarely attacked heavily fortified settlements, the few times they did had always been a resounding success—to the eyes of the WAA and the public, at least.
The notorious terrorist group always attacked fast and hard, striking right into the heart of the cities and instilling fear deep into the hearts of its citizens.
There were even instances when they managed to take the lives of a few WAA agents before suddenly vanishing, leaving behind only the chaos and destruction the assaulted city had endured as proof of their attack.
This time, however, it seemed that the bastards had decided, for the first time, to go all out.
Who’s to say they wouldn’t be able to maintain their undefeated streak?
The only time the WAA managed to deliver a crippling blow to the organization was when Alexander Aphelion of the Boundless Shadows eliminated Hakkin the Mad.
Yet, even this was considered a victory for Hadean Varsa, as Alpha Three’s triumph over both Baradur Pentagon of the Holy Sword and Saorus Calamitas of Heaven’s Wrath shook the world far more than the death of a terrorist commander.
Not to mention, they nearly captured the WAA Main Headquarters, the Yon Augenn Broadcast Office, and even managed to invade deep into the Hawkin Mansion.
The WAA had yet to cleanly thwart an attack from the most notorious terrorist organization, and this was why the WAA directors were anxious about the current attack on their cities.
With only around sixty percent of their full defensive capabilities accessible to them, could they defend themselves?
The directors would most certainly try to dent the terrorist organization’s streak. They had to.
As for Hadean Varsa, they didn’t view themselves so mighty, knowing just how much they operated on the edges of success and failure.
They even took the loss of Hakkin as somewhat of a failed operation.
Their resources were, after all, limited, and the loss of a capable commander was undeniably a crippling blow.
If not for Shye’s magnanimity and Kirov’s proactiveness and humility, the organization wouldn’t have been able to fill the void Hakkin left behind in time.
Even now, they looked menacing simply by charging around a thousand five hundred elites, seven thousand raiders from other organizations, and the monster horde to keep the thousands of wall guards occupied.
Without the seemingly invincible aura created by their winning streak in the eyes of the WAA and the public, Reginald’s diligent work that allowed them to catch the capitals off guard, and Shye’s modest flight of fifteen tamed dragons providing assistance, they would’ve never stood a chance.
They were struck by the realization that their simulation practice was far removed from reality.
Even the champions and titled adventurers, whom they had easily slaughtered in simulations, proved much harder to defeat in real life—let alone the heroes.
Nevertheless, like the Valenzia Strike Force, they gritted their teeth, braved the dangers they had to face, and created their own opportunities—with the help of a few unexpected allies, like Shye’s dragons, of course.
While fifteen dragons and five thousand (A-) to (S)-ranked monsters caused chaos and pulled most of the city’s manpower away, the elites slipped through the city gates to execute their mission.

If there was one thing the simulation practice did better compared to the true operation, it was the efficient allocation of manpower.
This meant that the real version of the director could never compete with the system’s guard allocation capabilities.
It made sense, though, as the computations were performed by a computer—something no mere human, no matter how experienced, could ever hope to match.
As a result, the strike forces assigned to other regions discovered gaps in the defenses that allowed them to advance more quickly.
However, the time they saved was inevitably spent dealing with the real versions of the champions and titled adventurers, who turned out to be far more competent than the
Fortunately, the heroes were still preoccupied with their confrontation against the dragons.
The Hadean Varsa elites continued advancing through the city—some ahead of schedule, others on time, and a few lagging behind.
Among those falling behind, the Hakk’Shatta Strike Force was struggling significantly.
Out of the fifteen squadron captains under Commander Ghost, two had died, and three were gravely wounded, including their Vice Commander, Baron, after an unexpected ambush by five hundred patriotic Hakk’Shattan adventurers.
Although they managed to kill most of the renowned adventurers, leaving the rest leaderless and unlikely to mount another ambush, the wounded captains and vice commander needed immediate care, which slowed their advance.
To make matters worse for them, Shye’s small flight of fifteen dragons wasn’t doing too well against the Hakk’Shattan heroes.
It was only a matter of time before they had to retreat or face annihilation.
As proud draconians, they would never retreat from mere humans, so the latter would most likely be their choice.
Similar scenes were happening in two more cities—the Vanborough City of Chellionne and the Weaven City of Weaven, though the units assigned to attack the cities and claim the objective establishments were faring slightly better compared to the Ghost Unit.
Fortunately, they had option two.
If it seemed like they wouldn’t be able to capture all objectives, they just had to focus on one: the Broadcasting Office.
This was the unnegotiable objective.
They must, at all costs, capture the Broadcasting Offices.
Commander Ghost was already contemplating whether it might be wiser to choose the second option, as his hesitation could cost him the chance to capture the Broadcasting Office.
He would be dragging everyone down should such a humiliating thing happen.
