Chapter 897: Unsealing Operation: Phase Two (3)
The Phase Two of Hadean Varsa’s Unsealing Operation had a more or less decent start.
For most of the units, at least.
The Ghost Unit, who suffered quite a significant loss from the adventurer vigilante group that ambushed them, was now decisively aiming for the second option.
Commander Ghost was rather mediocre in terms of combat—compared to the likes of Chaos and Shye, at least.
However, he was extremely sensible, logical, and decisive.
With all his units currently headed for the Hakk’Shatta Broadcasting Office, they had a fairly high chance of securing the establishment and holding their ground for a good while.
Minutes went by, and despite the decent start, things began to go further south for the Hadean Varsa elites.
The directors, on the other hand, were naturally pleased at what was happening—Hale, even more so.
As he suspected, Hadean Varsa had already stretched their forces thin.
The thousands of cannon-fodder raiders and monster hordes were simply there to make their army appear more intimidating.
If anything was bringing them trouble, it was the small flight of fifteen to twenty dragons, though even the proud, winged draconians were eventually being dealt with.
Still, the directors found it strange.
Their WAA agents are performing well, making things difficult for the terrorists, and yet, the bastards still haven’t retreated.
In fact, they were doubling down and increasing manpower in certain directions.
Among the eight, three units were already going for the second, less ideal option of capturing only the Broadcasting Offices.
The other five still had a fairly decent chance of capturing all objectives, though those chances were quickly dwindling by the second.
Commander Ghost’s decision to immediately opt for the less ideal option turned out to be a wise decision.
The Hakk’Shattans, after all, were way more patriotic than the adventurers from other regions.
There were way more adventurer vigilante groups volunteering to attack the Ghost Unit to protect their capital.
Had the commander hesitated, he would’ve lost even the chance to capture the Broadcasting Office.
Nonetheless, this didn’t mean that the other regions didn’t have adventurer vigilante groups.
They rarely appeared in the path of the terrorist elites to engage, but whenever they did, they caused a lot of trouble, employing guerilla tactics.
They killed a few terrorists and raiders through ambushes before retreating as swiftly as they appeared.
While the damage these small groups of three hundred to five hundred high-ranked adventurers could inflict upon the strike forces of Hadean Varsa was more or less insignificant, being harassed constantly would frustrate anyone, and the morale of the entire force would slowly decrease.
This, along with the furious, patriotic resistance of the WAA defenders and agents, inevitably turned things for the worse for the terrorists.
Ever so quickly, two more from the five strike forces decided to just capture the Broadcasting Office.
It was a lazy way of saying “mission accomplished”, but the commanders were too scared to mess up.
Unbeknownst to them, every WAA Headquarters that remained uncaptured increased the burden on the Yon Augenn Strike Force.
Once Detain’s core was crushed or the Valenzia Strike Force crumbled and was forced to retreat, the WAA agents would immediately head to Yon Augenn to respond to the terrorists’ main attack.
However, if the WAA Headquarters in their regions were captured, they would first be forced to return to reclaim those establishments before proceeding to Yon Augenn.

Deciding to capture the Broadcasting Offices only was a selfish choice for sure.
What choice do they have, though?
If they weren’t feeling confident in capturing all the target establishments, then they would, more or less, fail to actually do it.
The mind is powerful.
If one thinks he couldn’t do it, then he wouldn’t be able to.
This was also the reason why Sanada didn’t inform the commanders of the repercussions of their selfish decisions, deciding to entrust everything instead to his mighty trump card, Shye Crowley.
Had they known the consequences of failing to capture the other establishments, they might have forced themselves to do so, only to mess up and risk being wiped out in the process.
Staying alive and present to draw what little attention they could was far better than total annihilation.
After all, the latter would lead to the complete collapse of morale across the organization.
It was wiser to just entrust impossible tasks to his miracle boy and right-hand man, Chaos.
Although the old terrorist leader had spent more time with his commanders than with Shye, he trusted his trump card more, as Shye was akin to one of his ‘creations.’
In short, Sanada trusted himself and what he had created more than his other, slightly less competent commanders.
No one could tell whether his decision was right, though.
Not yet…
The Hadean Varsa elites continued to fight, and although they won every engagement, their ranks thinned as more fell and even more suffered grievous wounds.
Fortunately, they managed to restore their combat strength to near-peak levels with the aid of potions and the not-so-holy priest and priestess squadrons.
After a few more minutes, the twentieth minute since the start of Phase Two arrived.
Despite paying a significant price, Hadean Varsa’s forces successfully captured their objectives.
Of the eight forces assigned to attack the regions of Krebori, Raumann, Phaskalda, Hakk’Shatta, Weaven, Chellionne, Fanfir, and Deltra, only three succeeded in capturing all their objectives.
The forces in Deltra, Phaskalda, and Krebori managed to secure the Broadcasting Office, teleportation formations, city halls, and WAA Headquarters in their respective regions.
Nonetheless, those who chose option two didn’t settle for just the Broadcasting Offices.
They simply prioritized capturing that establishment first.
However, once they secured the Broadcasting Offices and realized they had forces to spare, most deployed their vice commanders to capture other objectives, such as the teleportation formations and the city hall.
Of the five that chose the less-ideal option, two managed to capture three out of the four original target establishments, two captured two out of four, and only one—the Weaven Strike Force—failed badly, capturing only the Broadcasting Office.
Nonetheless, after a brutal struggle and paying a hefty price in blood, the Hadean Varsa elites and what remained of the cannon-fodder raiders from subordinate organizations managed to pull through.
Footholds have been established in all regional capitals, and Phase Two of the Unsealing Operation, although barely, was a success.
