Chapter 900: A Familiar Face
The father and son had the same thoughts swirling in their head: ‘Was there still a mole in the organization? If so, then who?’
There was also, however, a difference in how they responded to the situation.
Maverick wasn’t a strong combatant and was only slightly stronger than the common vice commander.
His strengths lay in his strategizing skills, so he was currently petrified, his brain working overtime on how to turn the situation in their favor.
Shye, on the other hand, was already on the move.
Clearly, there was one efficient way to turn the tides of the battle.
Like a bloodthirsty demon, Shye moved through the battlefield with unmatched grace and brutality—leaping, vanishing, reappearing, hacking, slashing, stabbing, and unleashing a relentless storm of projectiles and bloodshed.
The Hadean Varsa elites were dumbfounded for a while before erupting into cheers, while the WAA defenders were unnerved, their resolve wavering under Shye’s killing spree.
Naturally, his captains followed suit.
Lagging behind him in kills was Shirley, as although she was on par with the strongest of heroes, her combat prowess was beneath that of her beloved’s.
Nonetheless, like her commander, she danced with immaculate footwork, cleanly decimating the ranks of the enemies surrounding her and her elites with utter ferocity.
Perhaps the most unexpected among the best performers was David Houdini.
As Shye’s close friend from Colzen and captain of his mage squadron, he was among those who lagged slightly behind his peers.
However, the current battle conditions allowed the slightly less renowned former titled adventurer of Valenzia, Thunderclap, to shine brightly.
With hundreds, if not thousands, of enemies packed closely together, David’s thunderclouds inflicted spine-chilling devastation upon their ranks.
Hundreds of charred enemy warrior corpses littered the ground with every swing of his elemental staff.
The number of his kills even eventually surpassed Shirley’s and almost caught up to that of his commander.
The fierce resistance of the terrorists, despite their grim situation, made the hearts of the defenders tremble and their resolve waver slightly.
Who would want to face such demons on the battlefield?
With his son’s unit causing utter havoc upon the ranks of their enemies, Maverick finally found the opportunity he was waiting for.
He knew his enemies’ hearts were shaken, so he swiftly charged out from the protective enclosure of his elites, leading the charge to slaughter more foes.
The sight of their tactical commander fighting as ferociously as the Black Dawn warriors reignited the Maverick elites’ morale, making them forget their rough start.
Wasn’t this what they signed up for?

Meanwhile, two old men of opposing affiliations watched the ongoing battle around the WAA Valenzia Headquarters.
One clenched his fists in victory after a terrifying scare, while the other had worn a cold smile just moments ago—only for it to vanish with the sudden turn of events.
Initially, Sanada could only watch in horror as the Maverick and Black Dawn Units were mercilessly fired upon in mid-air, with four hundred perishing under the vicious onslaught of turret projectiles.
But more than the staggering loss, the realization that a mole still lurked within his ranks made his entire body tremble.
He had meticulously built everything from scratch, taking an extra careful approach.
Yet, moles had still infiltrated high ranks and earned his trust.

The old man had no idea who the traitor was.
He scrutinized every commander and vice commander in his mind, but no one stood out.
Was he going to fail for the third time?
Fortunately, his miracle boy wasted no time doing what he did best—creating miracles for the organization.
Hale, on the other hand, was currently clenching his fists hard in utter frustration.
Everything went according to Dweezel’s plan, and the Maverick and Black Dawn elites, as Hadean Varsa called them, should’ve been wiped out soon after they landed.
But what was this? How the hell are the bastards even managing to fight back?!
“SHYE CROWLEY!!!” the head director roared, slamming his hands onto the desk.
Hale, who was a former warrior-class adventurer with a notably high strength attribute, struck with such force that the desk shattered in half.
Everything was because of Shye Crowley!
Fortunately, he had prepared for such a situation.
Despite his fury, Hale swiftly tapped a few buttons on his mana communicator, dispatching his nearby agents to gang up on the rampaging former hero of Valenzia.
Twenty champions, including a familiar face, along with ten titled adventurers and three heroes, suddenly appeared from all directions, easily given way by the trembling defenders.
Their agents had finally arrived to control the rampaging demon!
Unmatched relief coursed through the defenders’ bodies, allowing them to focus on their opponents: the Hadean Varsa elites.
Monsters, after all, should be dealt with by other monsters.
The agents soon arrived and encircled the monstrous terrorist captains and commanders.
Three titled adventurers and four champions were dispatched to deal with David.
Three titled adventurers, one hero, and four champions were sent to contain Shirley, while the remaining twelve champions, four titled adventurers, and two heroes were tasked with dealing with Shye.
For good measure, Guard Captain Targon was also dispatched to finally end the life of the monstrous commander.
‘Well, well, what do you know?’ thought Shye with a smile as he rested one of his greatswords on his shoulder.
This was almost exactly what had happened in the first simulation practice!
Saorus Calamitas of the Heaven’s Wrath, Baradur Pentagon of the Holy Sword, and the mighty Guard Captain Targon stood in his way.
However, the venue wasn’t the same—he had fought them inside the halls of the WAA Main Headquarters in the simulation.
There were also twice as many champions as he had faced in the practice run.
‘No matter…’
Scanning his eyes over the opposing roster, Shye’s eyes narrowed, a strange feeling taking root in his heart.
Rai Hou, the Yon Augenn champion he had once shared a mission with in the Void Dragon’s Dungeon, was also among those tasked with killing him.
The guy had been a great comrade—both strong and sensible.
It was rather unfortunate that they now stood on different sides of the battlefield.
