Chapter 902: The Gap
Roaring spheres of flame, lethal icy shards, piercing elemental arrows, and a few other deadly projectiles shot through the air, splitting the winds as they headed toward Shye.
He swiftly swapped Darky for his black shield.
Shye then stood his ground, masterfully deflecting all the projectiles, nary a hint of nervousness on his face.
He already knew he could easily swat them away.
This, unfortunately, caused him to lose his chance of eliminating both Targon and Baradur in one fell advance.
‘Tch.’ Shye clicked his tongue, realizing he had to adjust his approach.
It would be difficult to kill—or better yet, incapacitate—the heroes with all the flies buzzing around.
He quickly glanced at Shirley, Luna, and David, noting that they were more or less doing fine.
Shifting his focus back to the opponents in front of him, a plan began to form in his mind.
‘Alright, the first targets are… you two!’
With a swift lunge, Shye dodged both the projectiles heading his way and put himself in a position to attack.
He then swapped his shield back to twin greatswords.
With two violent slashes of his greatswords, two gleaming silver slash marks tore through the air, heading for the two shielders protecting the recovering hero and guard captain.
He used a charge of [Boost] to ensure his attack would deal destructive damage to the two agents.
Who knows—maybe he could take them out as well?
His wish was half fulfilled, as the weaker of the two—the shielder champion named Dwight—was immediately taken out when their chain skill barrier collapsed at the first impact of Shye’s attack.
The titled adventurer, however, was able to survive, though the guy was vomiting alarming volumes of blood from the backlash of the destroyed [Citadel of Order].
“Bastard!” cursed Saorus and a few other agents in unison.
They tried to retaliate with projectiles, but their target had already approached the injured titled shielder.
They couldn’t fire as they would be risking friendly fire.
Fortunately, Targon, who had recently fully recovered, reappeared in front of Shye like a cockroach, once again trying to protect the titled adventurer from Shye’s lethal blades.
‘Got you, stupid.’ Shye inwardly mocked as he suddenly disappeared, reappearing behind one of the unsuspecting priestesses and knocking her unconscious with a precise neck chop.
Shye controlled his strength, ensuring she wouldn’t die.
After all, the organization had use for these agents later in the operation, so he was ordered to keep them alive if possible.
He then turned his attention to the priest beside the now-incapacitated healer, shattering his summoned barrier with a single powerful punch before grabbing him by the robes.
Shye also took the guy out with a precise neck chop.
There was another priest among the enemy ranks, but regrettably, the guy had already escaped after he took out the two healers.
Targon and the recently recovered Baradur were also fast approaching from behind.
Shye, however, wasn’t scared of them and simply turned to face the two.
“Hunh!”

With low grunts, the three warriors clashed.
To the WAA agents’ horror, both Targon and Baradur were sent flying back, skidding backward with numbed arms as they tried to stabilize their footing.
Shye, on the other hand, didn’t waste the opportunity and quickly gave chase to the remaining priest, knocking him out just like the one before.
A subtle smile then graced Shye’s aesthetically pleasing face.
Now, no healer stood between him and his enemies, and he could finally change targets at will.
Only Baradur and Targon could withstand his attacks—so what could the flies possibly do?
Buzz annoyingly, like what he expected them to, was what they did.
With no warriors nearby, projectiles once again flew his way, roaring as they tore through the air.
Some chilled the air, while others ignited it with heat.
With a smirk, Shye spun into a whirlwind, now completely making up his own ridiculous ways to swat the projectiles aside.
The cheesier, the better—anything to crush his enemies’ morale.
To his surprise, the agents’ psyche wasn’t so easily shaken.
The sudden chill near the left side of his neck was solid proof of this.
Soon, Lethal Shadow, a titled scout adventurer from Yon Augenn, emerged from his shadow, the piercing tip of his translucent, black dagger horrifyingly close to his neck.
‘Stoic.’
For the first time in the battle, Shye was forced to use a defensive skill.
The next moment, the ethereal black dagger struck his neck, only to be halted by the thin golden layer of [Stoic], preventing it from piercing further.
‘Hoh, admirable work…’ he thought inwardly, swiftly spinning and backfisting Lethal Shadow to oblivion the next moment.
The titled adventurer seemingly teleported, spewing a mix of saliva, blood, and teeth as he hurtled through the air before crashing at the WAA Main Headquarters’ walls and falling on the grassy surface, twitching.
It was unknown whether the sneaky agent was dead or alive.
The remaining WAA agents, however, had no luxury to check, as the monstrous commander was upon one of their comrades again.
“YOU COWARDLY SCUM!! FACE US LIKE A TRUE WARRIOR!!”
Targon and Baradur attempted to taunt Shye into attacking them but to no avail.
The former hero was hell-bent on eliminating their comrades first.
Of course, the two warriors chased him down and attacked him continuously, with Baradur Pentagon of the Holy Sword even showing him why his title was so.
As Shye took down an archer positioned beside Rai Hou, a towering golden sword of heavenly light—seemingly extending from Baradur’s cross greatsword—descended upon him, cleaving even the entrance of the WAA Main Headquarters in its wake.
It was a terrifyingly powerful attack that only the top percentile of combatants could withstand.
And Shye… was among them—if not the very best.
Turning around, he tossed the unconscious archer aside and activated [Power Slash] and [Lethal Edge] simultaneously, amplifying them with a charge of [Boost].
Shye deliberately made his attack look deceptively simple—to devastate the wielder of the holy sword.
With a single, powerful slash of his greatswords, the towering golden sword of heavenly light cracked and dissipated into mere golden mana particles, all under the flabbergasted and horrified gazes of the WAA agents.
“There’s… no way…”
The WAA agent cohort was naturally shaken, and even the mighty, renowned Guard Captain Targon was rattled to his core.
They had finally come to realize the true gap between them and the former Black Dawn Hero.
