Chapter 906: Inhuman Battle
“Alexander Aphelion…” Shye muttered, gazing at the newcomer coldly.
In contrast, the young Yon Augennian scout hero seemed relaxed, and there was even a slight smile on his usually apathetic face.
“Shye Crowley…” responded Alexander. “Our battle has been delayed for quite a while already, I think it’s time to decide who’s the brightest among our generation, no?”
Shye, however, merely laughed at the young hero’s words.
“Hahaha! You’re still thinking about such things? How dumb.”
The next moment, he sprang into action, dashing forward with inhuman speed and slashing diagonally downwards with both his greatswords.
Shye had long realized that surpassing human limits by more than a hundred points allowed him to steamroll his opponents.
It was nearly impossible for them to react fast enough to muster effective defenses, and that dangerous realization had unconsciously made him arrogant.
He didn’t believe that Alexander Aphelion—regardless of the young hero’s reputation—could be significantly stronger than Baradur and Saorus.
The guy must still be within the confines of the human body, which meant he would be able to destroy Alexander all the same.
But then, just before his greatswords could make contact with the scout hero’s shoulder, he suddenly felt something cold and familiar near his neck.
It was the unmistakable sensation of a dagger’s sneaky, ruthless blade.
If not for his outrageous physical and mental attributes, he would’ve undoubtedly been decapitated that day.
Luckily, he reacted fast enough, managing to activate [Stoic] on time.
Furthermore, he trusted his defensive capabilities, so he decided to push through with his attack.
Although Alexander Aphelion’s blade would reach his neck first, the bastard would have to pay a price in return.
A huge price.
The young scout hero was surprised by Shye’s fearlessness, as most of his opponents would have pulled back to minimize the damage he could inflict on them.
Soon after, the sharp blades of Alexander’s ghostly dagger made contact with the thin, golden translucent aura that covered Shye’s body.
Blood then spurted out of Shye’s neck as the dagger pierced through his skin with a dull thud.
However, the wounds he suffered were but a minor one, insufficient to end him.
Alexander couldn’t take his life in one hit, and now, the young scout hero had to defend himself from Shye’s deadly attack.
The winds parted violently as two heavy greatswords slashed toward Alexander, aiming to cleave him diagonally in two.
But just before Darky and Murky could make contact with the hero’s slim frame, a clone materialized, taking the blow.
It folded comically, like a marshmallow, perfectly absorbing the strike before dissipating into thin black smoke.
Shye quickly stepped back and, in the same motion, returned one of his greatswords to his inventory.
He replaced it with a random life staff he had stocked and immediately cast [Heal] on himself.
Alexander was naturally dumbfounded by what Shye had just done.
“You…can heal yourself?” asked the young hero with narrowed eyes.
Shye, on the other hand, merely laughed, a cold smile gracing his face afterward.

This was the final battle, there was no need to hide his true might in combat anymore.
“Hahaha! I’m a talented young man, you see. Unlike you, I can do it all, so just accept your position beneath me, second placer.” he taunted.
It was ineffective, though, as Alexander merely smiled at his words, seemingly amused instead of annoyed.
“Hahaha! Who would’ve guessed you were such a funny guy, Shye Crowley?” the young hero chuckled. “Unfortunately, your tricks don’t scare me. As they say, a jack of all trades is a master of none.”
“Hahahaha!” Shye laughed even harder. “Unfortunately for you, too, I’m the great Shye Crowley—the master of all trades!”
This time, Alexander frowned, clearly unappreciative of Shye’s audacious claims.
“You can boast, but can you back it up?”
“Why don’t you try it instead of talking so much?”
The next moment, the two youngsters turned into black streaks and clashed at a pace impossible for mundane eyes to see.
Even Baradur, Targon, and Saorus could barely follow their movements.
Shye, however, was among those who were surprised, not expecting his adversary to be able to fight with him on equal terms, far beyond the limits of a human body.
The two clashed repeatedly, the sounds of metal sliding and colliding, accompanied by a few dull thuds, echoing at a rapid pace.
It was as though they were composing a set of crappy music beats.
Shye was like a barbarous warlord, monstrously swinging his twin greatswords as if they weighed nothing, despite each being several hundred kilograms.
His footwork was heavy yet swift and unpredictable.
On the other hand, Alexander moved like a slippery specter, slicing and stabbing with perfect precision at just the right moments.
He occasionally parried Shye’s attacks with masterful precision, deflecting them to the sides while his feet moved fluidly—dancing like a shadow.
It was a magnificent battle of inhuman prowess.
Regrettably, only a select few, worthy of such a spectacle, could witness and appreciate the otherworldly duel.
However, time wasn’t a neutral admirer.
The old father always chooses sides, and in this case, it favored Alexander.
Shye had to defeat the young scout hero as soon as he could.
If he failed to do so, the lives of his loved ones would be in jeopardy.
Unfortunately, in a battle of such magnitude, one couldn’t afford to move carelessly—one wrong judgment, even by millimeters or milliseconds, would surely cost his life.
He had to contrastingly balance taking his time with ending it as swiftly as possible.
Although Shye greatly preferred a different outcome, this was the reality, and he had to deal with it.
Given the way things were unfolding, with neither fighter able to easily overpower the other, their battle would last at least a few more minutes.
Meanwhile, as the former Black Dawn Hero and the Hero of the Boundless Shadows fought, a stalemate was broken somewhere in the same city.
“Retreat!!” exclaimed a man clad in white and blue armor.
He was a captain of a WAA elite guard squadron.
The WAA agents assigned to help contain a lesser-known terrorist unit were horrified to find themselves defeated, with many now grievously wounded.
Despite fighting valiantly and holding their ground for over ten minutes, they were ultimately overwhelmed by the Hadean Varsa Commander, Kirov, his recently promoted vice commander, Fino, and his unknown squadron captains, who somehow managed to defy the odds and overcome the agents’ onslaught.
They now had no choice but to abandon the defense of the Yon Augenn Broadcasting Office.
They first had to retreat and regroup with reinforcements before attempting to retake the area from the terrorists’ filthy claws.
