Chapter 919: Unsightly and Unnerving, But Mortal
Azure lights continued pouring in from the heavens, some even passing through the faces of the horrifying monstrosities that crawled out from the fissures in the ground.
This inevitably caught their attention.
As a result, the abominations turned toward the direction of the blue beams, finally spotting the Hadean Varsa-WAA Coalition Army.
The two sides stared at each other for a moment before terrifying roars erupted from outside the city, breaking the tense silence.
The remaining monsters from the Hadean Varsa monster horde finally locked jaws and claws with the abominations.
Battered and wounded, the monstrous creatures appeared to be at a disadvantage, yet they were just as ferocious as the abominations—if not more.
A thirteen-meter-tall bird-like abomination with rotten, jet-black angel wings, a human torso, and four enormous yet thin arms ending in claws—its feet tipped with sharp talons—screeched like a banshee before lunging at a wounded earth drake.
The two immediately began tearing each other apart—scales, black feathers, flesh, and blood splattering everywhere. And this was just from the two ferocious creatures.
There were hundreds if not thousands, more battles raging around them.
None of the creatures cared about their sizes; it was pure, unrelenting mayhem of flesh, blood, claws, and fangs.
At first, it seemed as though both sides were equal, but the fatigue and injuries on the monsters of the horde began to take their toll just seconds into the battle, resulting in them slowly losing ground against Dweezel’s abominations.
Hale, the other directors, and Sanada watched from the Valenzia WAA Headquarters as the two sides of monstrous horrors clashed, clenching their fists in sudden realization.
Dweezel was truly a scheming old serpent.
He had amassed such power, right beneath the WAA Main Headquarters, no less.
And yet, Hale hadn’t even gotten a whiff of his true nature.
The battle outside Yon Augenn City acted as a catalyst, triggering the battle within the city to begin.
The abominations, with their drooling expressions, couldn’t wait to get their hands on the coalition army.
If there was one thing that could be said in favor of the horrors, it was that they seemed more vicious but far less intelligent than even the most monstrous creatures.
It was as though they were merely acting on instinct, which would undoubtedly make things a bit easier for the WAA agents.
It should be relatively easy to trick the abominations—or at least counter their predictable attacks.
Soon, a five-meter-tall monstrosity resembling a graphite scorpion—its eight overgrown human legs skittering wildly, four bony claws in place of pincers, and a human torso hanging upside down where its tail should be—lost control and charged toward the still-scattered formations of the coalition army, leaving a trail of poisonous spit splashing everywhere in its wake.
The guards were unnerved by its appearance, and some of them even began trembling as the horror approached.
It was as though they forgot how to fight.
Fortunately, a few individuals present were already accustomed to facing monstrosities, though it couldn’t be denied that the scorpion-like abomination was among the most unsettling creatures they had ever encountered.
These individuals—including Black Dawn Unit commanders and captains like Seira and Ian—immediately sprang into action.
With unwavering resolve, they advanced, meeting the scorpion-like abomination and the horrors trailing behind it with unmatched ferocity.
In a single devastating wave of attack, the first row of smaller, faster abominations was either cut down, pierced into oblivion, or blasted to pieces, reminding the guards and less-experienced agents that these creatures—harrowing and nightmarish as they might appear—were mortal, just like them.
That they were killable, at the very least.
For a moment, the coalition army stood petrified—but in the next, they erupted into war cries.
The desire to carve a path to Hawkin Mansion surged back into their hearts, and without hesitation, they charged at the monstrosities.

Thus began the battle between tens of thousands of puny yet determined humans and thousands of towering abominations.
As one could have imagined, the battle wasn’t pretty.
Horrifying claws smashed into rows of shielders, tearing through some and sending the weaker ones flying with a single menacing swipe.
But not before hundreds of projectiles crashed into their unsettling frames.
Their claws, tails, and whatever grotesque appendages they used to attack were swiftly severed by the warriors before the monstrosities could even retract their limbs.
Time passed, and the two sides clashed relentlessly—fighting, struggling, and shedding blood with every passing second.
Casualties and injuries mounted, the battlefield a churning sea of chaos.
The abominations continued to crawl out of the cracks, seemingly endless.
But so too were the human reinforcements—azure beams rained down across the city, bringing fresh, battle-ready high-ranked adventurers into the fray.
Some, however, were unlucky, materializing directly within the drooling horrors’ ranks.
One could only imagine the horrifying fate they suffered upon finding themselves in such an unfortunate position.
Some even regretted helping before drawing their last breaths.
The two vastly different species waged a merciless battle, ruthlessly taking the lives of those unlike themselves.
One side was puny yet intelligent and decently powerful; the other, mindless and seemingly the incarnation of pure havoc—far stronger than the former could ever hope to be.
Nonetheless, both sides were mortal, and the casualties continued to mount…
Deeper within the city, however—where the warm sun rays could not reach—a similarly fierce and ruthless battle raged on, though this one seemed to be nearing its end.
Inside the metallic hallways of the Hawkin Group Headquarters, a tireless soul warrior army was beginning to one-sidedly slaughter their exhausted opponents.
The former Chaos elites—shattered and devastated as they were—fought relentlessly alongside six hundred of Tigren’s most trusted men.
Alongside Shye, their commanders, vice commanders, and captains, they cut down row after row of nearly mindless yet formidable enemies.
They held their ground at first, but soon, fatigue came to collect its due.
Rows of Hadean Varsa warriors fell, but not as easily as expected.
Perhaps it was because of a certain ashen-haired commander who fought like an invincible war god.
Nonetheless, the situation was anything but good for Shye and his comrades—especially now that ten new figures, each wearing identical golden hawk masks with numbers on their foreheads, had arrived, making their struggle even harder.
