Chapter 924: Primo and Hathor Hawkins
“L-Lord Father…”
The elderly back, with its rather small muscle volume, didn’t seem like it would hold.
But strangely, to Kiin, that very same back felt utterly comforting and safe, as though nothing would be able to get past it.
For the next few moments, nothing indeed managed to get past Dweezel’s golden guard.
The aged warrior stood tall, gritting his teeth while defending against Shye’s attack—the familiar purple glow of soul arts subtly present in his eyes.
Dweezel employed one of his strongest defensive skills and enhanced his attributes beforehand through the forbidden ways of the soul.
Yet, he was still struggling hard to defend, and he felt like his bony arms would snap.
But it didn’t, and soon, Shye’s attack was contained.
Dweezel and his fifteenth offspring were safe for now.
Shye was naturally surprised by the appearance of the old snake, his clouded mind slightly clearing at the sight of the world’s most evil man.
The bastard was cowardly and cautious, so it was a bit hard to believe that Dweezel would personally show up.
Did the Hawklings hold a soft spot in Dweezel’s wicked heart?
It seemed unlikely, but not impossible.
Nonetheless, Shye wouldn’t pass up this opportunity to take out the head of the opposition, certain that with Dweezel gone, the Hawkin Group would collapse.
He ferociously lunged and mightily flapped his unholy wings once more, firing two half-moon slashes and swiftly following up with a good old [Power Slash].
Dweezel’s thick, translucent golden barrier trembled as the sharp projectiles struck, but it held—only shattering completely after taking the subsequent empowered attack.
The old man coughed up blood as he fell onto his back.
“Lord Father!!” most of the Hawklings exclaimed almost simultaneously in worried tones.
Even Kiin, who held resentment for his father, was among those who were shaken by the sight of their father’s collapse.
He quickly stood up.
Before he even realized it, he was already standing in front of his father, ready to defend the man to the death.
He knew he couldn’t hold his ground in a head-on clash against Shye.
But fortunately, he wasn’t the only one whose fighting spirit ignited after witnessing Dweezel’s courageous stand against the trapped monster that was Shye Crowley.
Primo and Hathor, the First and Second Hawklings, sprang into action, utterly furious at their adversary.
The former wielded a [Legendary] adamantite-tier golden rapier, while the latter brandished a spectral dark purple dagger imbued with a unique void corrosion enchantment.
Although the two Hawklings were inferior to Shye in terms of raw attributes, their weapons were just as lethal as his.
The other Hawklings were about to help Fifteenth defend their father to the death.
However, the sight of their two eldest brothers in action left them both slightly intimidated and endlessly curious.
How competent were the leaders of the heir race?
They wanted to know.

And so, for a moment, they observed how Primo and Hathor operated in combat.
Primo lunged at Shye, forcing him to shift his focus while simultaneously protecting their Lord Father, who was struggling to stand.
He thrust his rapier at the unholy warrior—despite being way out of range.
Shye narrowed his eyes in slight confusion, but it didn’t take him long to understand why the eldest Hawkling had attacked in such an unusual manner.
A sharp, thin golden ray—resembling a rapier’s edge and tip—extended from Primo’s weapon, stabbing at him with unbelievable speed.
…For others.
For Shye, such speed was easily defendable, and he shattered the thin ray of golden light with a simple wave of his greatsword.
Primo’s attack, however, didn’t stop there.
The thin golden ray was just the first of many to come.
Over the next few seconds, Primo stabbed, and stabbed, and stabbed even more, unleashing hundreds of thin, sharp golden rays from the tip of his divine rapier in an attempt to overwhelm Shye in a relentless onslaught of swift yet lethal attacks.
The generous spacing between each golden ray made it difficult for Shye to swat many away at once.
Hence, for the first time in his battle against the Hawklings, the Black Dawn Hero was forced to step back to efficiently counter the approaching rapier mirages.
Although none touched him, forcing him to retreat, even if slightly, was an undeniably remarkable achievement.
The other Hawklings could only watch in awe at their eldest brother’s prowess.
If it were them, they would have needed a life-saving item or skill to defend against the golden rays.
To make matters worse, this seemed to be merely one of Primo’s standard attacks, given how effortlessly he executed it.
The flurry of divine rapier lights was certainly not among the eldest Hawkling’s most powerful offensive techniques.
Shye wasn’t fazed, though.
Dealing with the eldest Hawkling’s attack was as effortless as turning his hand.
Being forced to retreat slightly didn’t mean jack sh*t to him.
What mattered was that another bastard was probably about to plunge a dagger deep into his neck—a suspicion that proved horrifyingly accurate a moment later.
A spectral dark purple dagger emerged from nothingness, its edges sizzling with void corrosion.
The chilling weapon slashed toward his neck.
If executed poorly, even a successful dodge would still result in minor cuts elsewhere on his body—an outcome far from ideal.
Who the hell would want void corrosion eating away at their flesh?
So, Shye did what every other individual in his position would do: block the attack.
He angled one of his greatswords to halt the spectral dagger’s advance, but a drop of void corrosion flew toward him, momentarily drawing his attention and forcing him to tilt his head to dodge.
This inevitably opened up a chance for Primo to attack again.
And so, for a few seconds, Shye was on the defensive, caught off-guard by the prowess of the two eldest among the Hawklings.
Meanwhile, Dweezel had recovered and was now coldly watching Shye battle two of his sons—when suddenly, the void above… rippled subtly.
The old snake almost didn’t notice.
