Chapter 925: Boundless Shadow
Almost…
At the last second, Dweezel’s very soul gave him a warning—one of utmost urgency.
The old snake promptly looked up.
His eyes widened as he saw an elderly hand outstretched toward him in a grasping motion—its fingers glowing with the familiar dark purple of the void element.
Dweezel instantly realized who his attacker was: his old rival, Sanada.
The old snake quickly jumped back to evade the vertical void grab, but he wasn’t fast enough.
At least his body wasn’t.
His mind, however, was of a different caliber.
As Dweezel leaped back, he slashed his shortsword through the air in front of his neck, ensuring that if Sanada chose to continue his attack, it would cost him his right hand.
His plan proved effective, as the Voidweaver was forced to retract his arms slightly to dodge the blow.
This allowed Dweezel to completely dodge the first attack, but he wasn’t ready for the second.
The purple glow on Sanada’s fingertips suddenly morphed into five dark-purple laser beams infused with the void element, tearing through air and space—annihilating everything in their path, including Dweezel’s left shoulder.
“ARGH!” the old snake roared in agony.
Being struck by a void laser was only more pleasant than being struck by a void corrosion laser.
Dweezel’s left arm went limp, forcing him to drop his tower shield as he lost all control over it.
He could still fight—but only with one hand.
The old snake was in a dire situation. However, not as dire as Sanada hoped.
Landing with a light thud, the Hadean Varsa Leader gazed coldly at his rival, as if hoping to kill Dweezel with his glare—a literal application of ‘if looks could kill.’
And normally, it couldn’t.
But not this one.
Two purple void rays suddenly fired from Sanada’s eyes, converging into a single point, which was the center of the old snake’s forehead.
Unfortunately, this one was dodged rather easily by Dweezel. The old snake merely tilted his head slightly to the left.
The next moment, the two old men locked gazes—both as icy as a snowstorm on a wintry night.
“You roach… still as filthy and hard to kill as ever,” Sanada sneered, blasting away two approaching Soul Warriors along with five lesser ones behind them with Void Blasts.
“Heh, still chasing after me? When will you ever learn?” Dweezel shot back. “You’ll never defeat me.”
In that brief exchange of blows and words, Sanada had already gathered the information he needed.
He couldn’t stay in the area for long, after all. Not when the opponent is a mere soul-enhanced light clone.
The one in front of him, however, should be the real Dweezel.
After the humiliation of being deceived by his rival’s lifelike clone in the past, the Voidweaver had extensively studied soul-enhanced clones.
A forbidden experiment, this technique involved using a small fragment of one’s very soul to animate a mere clone—granting it the ability to speak like the original and wield the same skills.

Its only drawback was fragility; while the clone could inflict damage at the same rate as the original, it was significantly more fragile in comparison.
This was the reason why Sanada was able to easily defeat Dweezel’s light clone in their previous confrontation.
The one in front of him, however, did not seem to be as fragile or as incompetent as the one he fought before.
Moreover, there was a high chance that Dweezel would hesitate to create another light clone, given the exorbitant cost of sacrificing a fragment of his soul to do so.
Sanada was at least eighty-five percent sure that the one in front of him was the real Dweezel Hawkins.
And so, the Voidweaver has decided to commit to the battle.
Chanting while weaving void seals with both hands, Sanada conjured a massive void magic circle above him, unleashing a rain of void needles upon the approaching Soul Warriors to clear the perimeter.
Without pause, he activated another skill with his left hand.
‘Sh*t’ Dweezel cursed inwardly, realizing what was about to happen.
In an instant, the surroundings shifted into a vast expanse of dark purple emptiness, with a floor surface similar to a dark ocean that refused to let anything sink—no matter how hard one tried.
Every step merely sent ripples across its eerie surface.
Dweezel had been here before, and he most certainly did not want to return here again, but here he was…
He was in deep peril again.
Inside the world of nothingness that Sanada had created, only four things existed: Sanada, Dweezel, the ominous purple void moon, and… Dweezel’s shadow.
Yes.
Sanada himself cast no shadow within the void domain—yet, somehow, the old snake did.
The Voidweaver frowned at the sight.
Though he rarely used this domain skill, he had invoked it countless times over the past five decades—enough to have long memorized everything that should exist within it.
A shadow… should not be here.
“Hoh, and how did you get here, young shadow?” Sanada asked with narrowed eyes.
At that moment, two voices laughed in unison—one unmistakably Dweezel’s, the other a young voice that sounded vaguely familiar to Sanada.
He had heard it once before, somewhere in the past two or three years, but he couldn’t quite recall where or when.
The old terrorist leader didn’t have to guess for long, though.
In the next moment, a dashing, black-haired young man with a slim yet well-defined build emerged from the shadows, a ghostly black dagger in his grasp.
“Alexander Aphelion?”
Sanada’s frown deepened.
He was sure he could take his old rival in a duel, considering both of them were way past their prime, but the young scout hero…
Voidweaver wasn’t so sure.
Not only was he, as a mage, at a huge disadvantage against a scout, but he was also undoubtedly outmatched in endurance.
He could rival Alexander in raw destructive and killing power, but the battle couldn’t drag on.
If it did, his defeat was inevitable.
Another eerily synchronized laugh suddenly echoed within the domain.
“Hahaha! Sanada, Sanada, Sanada… So much for being a mage hero. In the end, I still outwitted you.”
