Chapter 928: Dying Old Farts
Shye was exhilarated.
The bastard, who had always been one step ahead of him in terms of intelligence warfare and deceit, was twitching pathetically in front of him, foaming at the mouth, and his vital status—unknown.
He didn’t know whether Kiin was dead or alive—most likely the former—but he couldn’t care less.
Revenge was served.
Brain damage was very difficult even for priests and priestesses to cure completely, so even if Kiin somehow managed to live through his full-powered hurl, the guy was bound to suffer.
What was more important for Shye now was his safety.
His [Fallen] skills had timed out, and while he could still hold his own against all the Soul Warriors, he was certain that his stamina reserves wouldn’t last until he could wipe them all out.
Furthermore, the two eldest hawklings were annoyingly proficient in combat.
He could kill them too, but it would come at a cost—one that would possibly cause the entire operation to fail.
The WAA and the world were now on their side, and Dweezel was alone.
There was no need to rush.
The Plan B of the unsealing operation, which was to infiltrate the Hawkin Group Headquarters and unseal the Black Dragon of Destruction as fast as they could, can now be aborted, as Plan A had worked wonderfully.
After all, Plan B only needed to be forced in case Plan A failed.
Shye now had the option to retreat first, regroup with his unit, and then storm Dweezel’s keep along with the WAA, their army, and their agents.
What baffled him, though, was the disastrous delay that led to the fall of the entire former Chaos Unit and a majority of the Tigren Unit, along with old Tigren himself.
How could Dweezel’s forbidden warrior army delay their forces to this extent?
Even Kirov, who was requested to assist them much earlier, still hadn’t arrived.
Wasn’t it the Hawkin Group’s forces who were vastly outnumbered now? What could’ve happened?
Earlier, Shye was too engrossed and busy in battle, so he did not have time to check his mana communicator, and he was still in the same situation now.
He had no idea that outside, thousands of abominations were rampaging in Yon Augenn City.
It was pure carnage.
Fortunately, Dallis, Big Bruce, and their ogre clan stepped in at the perfect moment, tilting the tides of battle back in the coalition army’s favor.
That didn’t change the fact that he was still in a precarious situation, though.
And now, the darned old man appeared out of nowhere and joined him in this bullcrap mess, somehow still failing to kill Dweezel even after ten seconds had passed after boasting multiple times in the past that he could kill the elderly snake in five.
He could leave now.
But should he do so? Could the old man leave unscathed? Was the old man expecting him to wait?
‘This damned geezer and his unplanned appearances!’ he cursed inwardly, deciding to risk fighting for five more seconds.
‘If you’re still not done in another five seconds, I’m leaving you!’
The Soul Warriors, their lesser versions, and some of the hawklings were attacking the Void Domain in hopes of destroying it.
But none of their attacks worked, as both blades and projectiles were simply absorbed by the domain’s strange walls.

They didn’t have to keep trying for long, though, as the dark purple domain began dispersing into mana shards of the same color, scattering to the four winds.
Shye angled his greatswords and blocked another attack from the two eldest hawklings.
The arm and leg wounds he suffered hurt just enough to slightly impair his movements, decreasing his performance by quite a fair bit.
He could still deal with the hawklings and the Soul Warriors attacking him, but not without exerting a moderate amount of effort.
Nonetheless, he had the luxury of glancing at the void domain from time to time, and soon, he realized that it was dissipating.
‘Took you long eno–’
Shye’s thoughts, however, were abruptly halted by what he saw.
His eyes widened and his heart trembled.
A few meters behind him, two old men lay on the ground—one unmistakably dead while the other, close to suffering the same fate.
Sanada was vomiting alarming volumes of blood.
His left arm was torn while the other was severed; there were also three modest-sized shadow spears embedded deep in his chest.
In the middle of the two collapsed geezers was a slim, black-haired young man, licking the blood off his dagger as he turned his head towards Shye.
“Old man!!” Shye exclaimed in horror.
Ignoring Alexander’s taunts, Shye swiftly turned around and charged, but he wasn’t as quick as he had initially been, thanks to the corrosive wound he suffered on his left leg due to Hathor’s spectral dagger.
The former Yon Augenn Scout Hero easily dodged his attack by sidestepping.
However, that was enough for Shye, as his goal was to grab Sanada, anyway.
The old man was thin and frail, so he weighed almost nothing as far as Shye was concerned.
Shye sensed three attacks coming his way—Alexander and the two eldest hawklings were on the way to make him pay for attempting to save Sanada.
He wanted to say a lot of things and ask a lot of questions to the young hero.
Sadly, he did not have the time.
The WAA was now on their side and Alexander should’ve already been informed. Yet, he still attacked the old man.
Based on the fallen Dweezel’s wounds, it was Sanada who killed the elderly wretch, so he could only conclude that Alexander was siding with Dweezel.
That or he simply hated Sanada with a passion.
Either way, he didn’t have the luxury to stay any longer, and so, he vanished with the old man.
Alexander, Primo, and Hathor’s attacks struck nothing but air, the two eldest hawklings even almost hit each other if not for their superb control.
For a moment, the three stood still. They all then turned their heads toward the dead Dweezel.
For some reason, however, none of the hawklings reacted.
It was as though the man who just died had nothing to do with them.
