Chapter 946: Unsealing Plan
In total, there were eleven soul-enhanced Hawklings, around seventy former heroes—whose strengths, back when they still had their crests, were somehow preserved in exchange for their very souls—and then there was Aeryth, and, of course, Dweezel Himself.
It was a horrifying lineup, almost eight times the cohort’s puny number of eleven people.
They didn’t have Shye on their side, however, Dweezel’s victory lay not in wiping out his enemies but in surviving for ten measly minutes.
The essential components of the immortal snake’s plan would be transported out of the headquarters by then.
With such an overwhelming numbers advantage, forget ten—they should be able to easily survive for thirty.
To make matters worse for the unsealing cohort, there was a thick, translucent purple barrier that seemed difficult, if not outright impossible to break through.
Shye and the others were already aware of the barrier, though.
They knew it shouldn’t be much of a problem.
In fact, they could even use it to their advantage if they played their cards right.
The Black Dawn Hero was stuck in a dilemma, struggling to decide whether he should break through and unseal the black dragon alone.
If he chose to do so, he would be leaving his friends—most, if not all of them—to their deaths in exchange for the world’s future.
It would be one of the noblest sacrifices a true hero could make.
However, Shye knew deep down that he was no noble hero. He was simply doing everything out of sheer necessity!
He would never sacrifice a single strand of hair on a single friend if he could help it.
And so, his mind raced, making full use of the time Dweezel was buying them.
What he needed was a chance—a way for all of them to enter the Black Dragon Gate.
“Hahahaha! Shye Crowley, why have you fallen silent, young man? Cat got your tongue? You’re monstrous indeed—perhaps I cannot take you on alone. But the real question is, can you defeat me and everyone here in ten minutes?” Dweezel continued yapping.
Shye, on the other hand, devoted ninety percent of his brainpower to crafting a plan, while using the remaining ten percent to pretend he was listening to the immortal snake’s nonsense.
Every second counted. The longer he stalled, the more time he had to find a solution.
But of course, he couldn’t waste too much time, as he needed enough time to enact his plan.
“Hmph! One can only know if one tries—don’t speak in absolutes!” Shye retorted, deliberately offering a dull response to get Dweezel to yap a bit more.
And it worked like magic.
“HAHAHAHA!” The immortal snake laughed uproariously. “Disappointing! If one tries? You should know that merely trying would never be equivalent to success!…*blah* *blah*…”
Meanwhile, Shye calculated the time needed to unseal the Black Dragon of Destruction—five whole minutes of uninterrupted mana channeling.
He could send Harry and David, the two with the highest mana reserves in the cohort aside from himself, to handle the unsealing.
But even then, he was certain their combined mana would only activate a third of the scroll.
Another option was to have everyone pool their mana together while he stalled the enemy. However, it was risky—he wasn’t entirely sure if their combined reserves would be enough.
After all, none of them had the sheer mana capacity or insane regeneration rate that he did.
Those two advantages would allow him to unseal the divine deity alone.
‘What to do…’

He pondered some more.
In the end, he decided that for the first two minutes, Harry and David would pour their mana into the unsealing scroll, leaving them with about twenty percent of their total reserves for combat later.
Meanwhile, he and the others would be responsible for stalling the enemies—a lethal task for Shirley and the rest, considering they would face eighty-two foes, each near the peak of human attributes.
However, with Shye leading them, their chances of surviving this uphill battle were at least decently high.
They also had to hold on for just a minute and fifty seconds.
After that, they would retreat inside the gate.
‘First…I need to carve a path for the cohort, and capture the area in front of the gate…’
Dweezel would probably think this move was foolish, happily relegating them to the role of cornered rats—doubling down on their inevitable deaths.
But Shye didn’t see it that way.
‘I’m not sure if Dweezel can deactivate that damned barrier. It’s better if he can’t, but…’
That was wishful thinking.
The immortal snake, known for his meticulous nature, likely had a way to unlock the soul barrier just as they had.
The real question was: how much time would that buy them?
He had no answer.
But these were the kinds of situations they would have to solve on the fly.
Plus, hesitation would only hold them back. They needed to act decisively.
And so, he slowly stepped back, secretly slipping the scroll into David’s hands while the crazy old soul yapped on.
He whispered, “David, Harry, I’ll send you two inside. There’s a magic circle in the center of that room, right in front of an abyss. Activate the scroll with your mana inside that circle. We’ll join you in two minutes, and I’ll take over the unsealing from there.”
The two mages, despite their idiotic nature when it came to rivalries, were both logical and smart.
They didn’t show any reaction as to not give Dweezel a hint of what they were planning.
Shye, now armed with sheer determination and a plan, suddenly drew both his swords, causing the old soul to stop talking and narrow his eyes.
He didn’t need to listen to Dweezel’s ramblings anymore. Who knew the bastard was so talkative?
“Shut the hell up, you sicko. I don’t give a crap how amazingly prepared you are,” he snapped, then immediately turned to his cohort. “We’re breaking through—follow me!”
The members grinned and swiftly followed their commander, their bodies and minds fully prepared for a menacing battle.
