Chapter 148: Cooking chicken opor
The car continued to speed along, eventually reaching an area surrounded by high, expansive walls. Yes, they had arrived at the location of Laras’ house area.
Nita’s car drove calmly past the high and long wall that bordered Laras’s family residence. After a few minutes, they approached the main gate, guarded by several fully uniformed soldiers. However, the guards seemed to recognize the vehicle Nita was in. Without any delay, the gates opened automatically, granting full access to Laras’s family housing area.
As the car entered the yard, a view of a wide and beautiful garden immediately welcomed Nita and Nayla. On the right and left, green stretches were filled with colorful flowers pleasing to the eye. Some relaxing seating spots were scattered throughout the garden, and a few people, who seemed to be Laras’s distant relatives, were chatting there. The air here was fresh, the atmosphere peaceful, a stark contrast to the city’s hustle and bustle.
In the distance, rows of grand houses lined up neatly. Each house was built with clearly expensive construction materials, showcasing the luxury and status of the families residing there. However, the largest and most prominent house was located in the center—the residence of Laras and her family. The building stood majestically, featuring modern architecture blended with classic touches, reflecting the prosperity and wealth of Laras’s family.
Just as Nita’s car stopped in front of the house, the front door swung wide open, and Laras, wearing a delicate white dress with a touch of blue lace, walked out to greet them. Laras’s long hair, neatly flowing down her back, added an elegant impression. She smiled brightly as she saw Nita stepping out of the car.
“Nita! You’re here!” exclaimed Laras enthusiastically, her eyes sparkling.
Nita smiled back and looked at Laras from head to toe. “Thanks, Sis. But look at you! This white dress really suits you. You look stunning,” Nita replied, admiring Laras’s beauty.
Laras blushed slightly but quickly continued, “You always flatter me, Nita. Oh, and this is Nayla, right?” Laras turned to Nayla, who was standing behind Nita.
Nayla, still holding her tablet, smiled politely and nodded. “Yes, Miss Laras. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Nayla felt a bit nervous. Although she had met and seen Laras several times, she still felt slightly intimidated by meeting a core member of the World Market Trade Alliance. This was understandable given that Laras was a Tier-3, a level she rarely encountered, just like Nita, who was also a Tier-3.
Laras looked at Nayla briefly and smiled. “Nice to meet you too, Nayla. I’ve heard a lot about you from Nita. She says you’re very reliable!”
Laras had heard about Nayla several times from Nita. She even received her first message from Nayla because Nita had instructed her to send a message about their meeting schedule.
Nayla smiled wider, touched by the compliment. “Thank you, Miss Laras. I’m just doing my best.” She responded shyly, bowing her head slightly.
After greeting each other, Laras invited Nita and Nayla into the house. In the living room, they were warmly welcomed by Laras’s family, including her father and mother, who were already waiting on the sofa. Fortunately, Laras’s father was at home this time.
“Father… this is Miss Nita, the sister of the Island’s Owner,” said Laras, introducing Nita to her father and mother.
Laras’s father appeared well-groomed with very stylish clothing. He wore transparent glasses with shiny black frames. Even while facing Nita, he managed to maintain his calm expression.
“Haha… hello, Miss Nita, welcome,” Laras’s father greeted warmly. He walked over and shook hands with Nita and Nayla.
“Hello, sir, we meet again,” Nita replied, shaking Laras’s father’s hand. She had met him earlier during the city’s initial development phase. Nita saw him as someone who calculated everything based on profit and loss, even for minor matters.
After Laras’s father, other family members also greeted them. They couldn’t ignore Nita, even though Laras was close to her; they still had to show some respect when meeting the owner of Life City and the sister of the Island’s Owner.
After some brief pleasantries, Laras suddenly proposed an idea. “I have an idea! How about we cook first before going out? I want to try making chicken opor,” she said excitedly.
Nita immediately agreed. “Of course! It feels like it’s been forever since we cooked together, Sis. This will be fun!”
Nayla just smiled behind them, happy to see the enthusiasm of these two friends.
The three of them headed to Laras’s large kitchen, filled with modern cooking equipment and various ingredients. Skillfully, they began cooking chicken opor—a traditional Indonesian dish rich in spices. Laras managed the pot, Nita prepared the spices, and Nayla helped with small tasks, occasionally laughing along when something funny happened in the kitchen.
“Nita, by the way, what class do you have today?” Laras asked suddenly as she added carrots to the pot.
Nita, who was chopping onions, paused and, after thinking for a moment, said, “Today is calculus, mathematics.”
“Why do you ask, Sis?” Nita asked back.
“Nothing, I was just curious if you had any assignments? Maybe I could help you later,” Laras replied casually. She used to be very diligent and meticulous in her studies. She had continued her college education until halfway through the semester when they suddenly moved to the Heavenly Sky Realm.
A few weeks ago, it was announced that youths who were still in college could continue their education at the newly established university, but Laras didn’t want to attend. Her father didn’t push her to continue her studies due to the vastly changed circumstances. Instead, he encouraged her to keep improving her strength and become the strongest.
“No, Sis, today is my first time attending a calculus class,” Nita answered while gathering the chopped onions and placing them in an aluminum bowl.
“Even today, it might just be an introduction, not going into the actual material,” she added.

Laras nodded lightly at Nita’s response and continued cooking, stirring the pot with a wooden spatula.
