Chapter 107: Chapter 51: A Looming Confrontation_4
With a swift motion, he slammed his hands together, and a shimmering barrier erupted around the convoy, shielding the civilians and soldiers’ families.
Bullets and energy blasts collided with the barrier, sending shockwaves rippling across its surface. But it held. For now. Tommy’s jaw clenched as he felt the energy drain from him rapidly. The barrier was strong, but it was consuming his energy at an alarming rate. “Damn it…” he muttered under his breath. “This won’t hold for long.” Reinforcements and Tactical Defense
Elias noticed Tommy’s struggle immediately.
“Those who have Earth ability users, reinforce the barrier!” Elias barked the order.
The awakened soldiers with earth abilities stepped forward, layering thick, jagged walls of rock over Tommy’s barrier.
Others used water abilities to strengthen the structure further, creating an interwoven defense against the relentless assault.
“Hold your ground!” Tommy shouted as he felt the burden ease slightly, the energy drain slowing.
Still, they needed to counterattack.
“Switch to attack formation!” Tommy commanded.
In an instant, his team divided into two units—one focused on defense, the other preparing to launch an offensive strike.
Elias took charge of a group of elite fighters, moving swiftly to engage the enemy soldiers. Close combat erupted in a chaotic dance of battle.
“Tommy, your abilities are incredible,” Elias let out a breathless chuckle.
“Damn right,” Tommy muttered, wiping the sweat from his brow. “Now let’s make sure they don’t get the chance.”
Meanwhile, Aiden and Grant’s fight intensified.
Aiden moved defensively, allowing Grant to exhaust himself. He dodged, parried, and countered, but never fully engaged.
Grant, fueled by the drug, became more aggressive. His strikes grew wild, desperate.
And then—he faltered and only just for a second.,Aiden’s eyes flashed. That’s it.
Grant stumbled slightly, his breath ragged, sweat dripping down his face.
The medicinal effect was wearing off.
Aiden smirked. “Feeling it now, aren’t you?” he taunted. “You should’ve known better than to rely on that cheap shortcut.”
Grant’s expression twisted in frustration. His strength was fading, his body struggling to keep up.
He had two choices—win now or flee.
But Aiden had already decided.
With a swift, calculated movement, Aiden surged forward, flames roaring to life around him.
A devastating punch, enhanced with his fire ability, collided with Grant’s stomach.
Grant’s eyes widened in shock as he was lifted off the ground and sent flying backward, crashing through debris.
He coughed violently, blood staining his lips. His body trembled, muscles spasming as the drug’s backlash hit him full force.
“Looks like your time’s up,” Aiden said, standing over him. “Now what?”
Grant gritted his teeth, fury and humiliation washing over him.

Just as the battlefield was settling, a new presence emerged as the air turned cold and Frost crept across the ground.
Amira walked forward, her icy aura dominating the field.
And as she tilted his head slightly, his smirk deepening. “Took you long enough.”
She ignored his jab, her sharp blue gaze sweeping over the battlefield. “Looks like you handled yourself well,” she said, voice neutral.
Aiden chuckled. “I always do my best.”
Amira lifted her hand, and the massive ice barriers surrounding the trapped soldiers began to melt. The thick, crystalline walls shimmered as they dissolved into mist, freeing the soldiers who had been confined within. Some of them hesitated, confused about whether they were truly being released.
Aiden glanced at them, his voice steady but firm.
“This fight is over and you lost. I won’t waste time dragging this out.”
The soldiers lowered their weapons, exhaustion and relief washing over their faces. Some even dropped to their knees, the realization settling in that they had survived—at least for now.
Amira addressed them next, her tone cold but not cruel. “You will be detained for a while and serve as laborers to work to repair and secure the basin for the civilians. After a month, we will release you, and you will be free to return to the capital.”
Murmurs rippled through the group.
Some of them exchanged glances, relieved that they weren’t being executed or permanently imprisoned. A few, likely from the local area, even seemed relieved to have the chance to stay close to their families for a while.
One of the younger soldiers hesitated before stepping forward. “You mean… you’re not going to kill us?”
Amira arched a brow. “Would you prefer that?”
The soldier immediately shook his head.
Amira, then watched them silently for a moment. “Go regroup in order without any disturbance and follow, and if you tried make a wrong move consequence will be dire.”
The soldiers nodded, some more grateful than others, before organizing themself.
Aiden watched her for a moment, then nodded. “Do what you have to do.”
With the battle finally over, the survivors were escorted toward the Basin.
Aiden, watching his team, felt something stir inside him which had survived and also had won without any causalities to arrive safely to their destination.
But this was just the beginning as he turned his gaze toward the horizon—toward Icelorn Basin, toward a future filled with even greater challenges—he knew one thing for sure.
Aiden turned to Amira as they walked, his expression serious. “We have a lot to discuss.”
Amira didn’t miss the weight in his words. She nodded, but her voice was calm when she replied. “Tomorrow. Get some rest first. You and your people have been fighting all day. We’ll talk once you’ve had time to recover.”
Aiden wanted to push the matter, but he knew she was right. His team was exhausted. His people needed food, sleep, and a moment to breathe.
“Fine,” he relented, running a hand through his hair. “But first thing in the morning.”
Amira smirked slightly. “Of course.”
But as they moved out, in the shadows of the battlefield, someone remained.
Rourke had kept himself hidden during the entire battle, watching from afar, never interfering. It had been a calculated decision. He had known from the moment Grant lost that there was no point in stepping in.
His mission had been to oversee Grant’s progress, not to throw his own life away.
Now, with only a handful of his soldiers remaining, he knew what he had to do. “We need to get out of here,” he whispered to his men. “We’re returning to the capital.”
The others nodded, their faces grim but determined.
They began their retreat, careful to avoid detection. But before leaving, Rourke cast one last glance back at the battlefield.
“The old man needs to hear about this,” he muttered under his breath.
And with that, he disappeared into the night.
Far ahead, Amira’s expression didn’t shift, but she knew.
Even without turning, even without looking, she sensed it but she didn’t stop them.
“Let them go,” she thought.
Let them run back and tell their leaders exactly what happened here and spread the word—that now she and Aiden were working together.
