Chapter 83: Chapter 40: Breaking Bone by Bone_2
Dia and Megan exchanged confused glances behind Amira as they had just struggled to keep up with Cole’s movement and defense, but she seemed unfazed.
Cole let out a dry laugh. “Then you’re making a mistake because you won’t stand a chance alone.”
With an eerie calm, Amira’s eyes shone. “You think I don’t know how you were able to handle both of them?”
Cole’s smirk froze as his eyes flickered with uncertainty. Dia and Megan stiffened as well, their confusion deepening.
Amira kept walking forward, slowly closing the distance. “I know you’ve been layering spiritual energy over your body like a protective shell and I’ll admit, it’s impressive. But using it as a constant shield now that’s reckless and you know it drains you too quickly so your plan were to take us down fast, lock the door, and wait for your gang to show up, right?”
Cole’s eyes widened because he knew that she had seen right through him, leaving him feeling exposed and vulnerable, but he wasn’t ready to drop his act. “So what if you know, are you just going to stand there and wait for me to pass out from exhaustion?”
He got chills down his spine as he heard Amira chuckle but still wasn’t able to get any reaction from her so he tried again to provoke her to attack by sneering. “Really? Is that what honor looks like to you? What happened to the army’s code of fair combat? Are you going to fight me at full strength or act like a thug?”
Amira’s gaze was steady. “We’re not the same, Cole. And if you’re hoping I’ll give you the upper hand—forget it. You’ve lost the right to fair treatment.” She paused, tilting her head. “But there’s something I’m curious about.”
Cole raised an eyebrow, trying to mask his unease. “Oh?”
Amira’s tone was light but deliberate. “You don’t have an strong mental energy or strong soul as I can see from your control and movement, yet Megan’s ability didn’t affect you. How?”
Cole’s grin widened, though it didn’t reach his eyes. “Defeat me, and I’ll tell you.”
Amira’s smile turned cold. “As you wish.”
She flexed her fingers, and a faint shimmer of energy coated her fist—a concentrated layer, not spread thin across her whole body like Cole’s. “You see that how its done.” She stepped in close, faster than Cole anticipated, and drove her fist into his stomach.
The impact was like a sledgehammer. Cole’s breath left him in a sharp gasp as his body flew back, crashing into the reinforced wall with a sickening thud.
He slumped slightly but managed to stay on his feet, his face twisted in agony. Amira stepped forward, calm but relentless. “You’ve got impressive energy reserves, I’ll give you that. But I wonder how many hits you can take.”
Before Cole could respond, Amira’s fists were already in motion. A flurry of punches and kicks rained down on him, precise and brutal. Her knuckles slammed into his ribs, and a swift roundhouse kick cracked his arm with a sickening snap. Cole’s scream echoed in the room as he stumbled, his left leg folding beneath him when another kick shattered his knee.
Dia winced slightly but didn’t look away. Megan, meanwhile, watched in stunned silence as Amira dismantled Cole piece by piece.
Cole was barely conscious when Amira stepped back, breathing steadily. He was pinned to the wall, both arms hanging uselessly, one leg twisted at an unnatural angle.
Amira turned to Dia. “Bind him. We’ll question him once he wakes up.”
Dia’s grin was gone, replaced by a focused expression. “On it.” She pulled out reinforced bindings and secured Cole’s limbs tightly not that now he can move, but still ensuring he couldn’t move an inch.
While Megan approached to the corner of the room where the two girls lay, barely clothed, their bodies bruised and fragile. She exhaled slowly, clenching her fists to keep her composure. She approached them and knelt down. “You’re safe now,” she whispered. “We’ve got you.”
One of the girls let out a soft sob, covering her face with trembling hands. The other remained silent, her eyes vacant.
Dia looked away, muttering a curse under her breath.
Amira stood and surveyed the room, her eyes landing on the opulent furniture, the expensive decor—the terrifying contrast to the horror that had happened here. She took a deep breath. “Call Mira and make sure they get medical attention.”
Dia straightened. “I’ll go get her.”
Without hesitation, Dia exited the room. Amira stayed behind, as she moved to a large desk, her fingers brushing over the scattered papers and books. Something caught her eye—a book very old, the not paper written like all but with leather cover and pages seemed like cloth faded somewhere between tarnished gold and aged brown.
She flipped through it, her expression shifted from mild curiosity to intense focus as she read the details of book.
Before she can delve deeper, a soft footstep alerted her to someone behind her. Mira had returned with two other women, both were skilled in medics. She motioned for the them to tend to the rescued girls while she quietly approached Amira.
Mira hesitated as she saw Amira engrossed in the book but didn’t interrupt. After a moment, Amira closed the book with a soft thud and turned. “What’s the status?” she asked.

Mira nodded. “Liam has managed to reach most of the awakened individuals who were forced to cooperate with Cole’s gang and asked them on gathering the townsfolk at the town hall and that to inform them attendance is mandatory.”
Amira’s brows furrowed. “Good. Is Liam still outside the mansion?”
Mira touched her earpiece. “Liam, do you copy?”
Liam’s voice crackled through the comms. “Yeah, I’m just outside.”
Amira’s tone was steady. “Round up everyone we’ve apprehended and throw them into the wine cellar and make sure they’re bound tight—double-check everything.”
“Got it,” Liam replied.
“And bring everyone who is outside inside the mansion,” Amira continued. “And let the girl we rescued outside identify if the 9 girls taken yesterday from the town to make sure we’ve accounted for everyone.”
Mira listened closely as Amira’s instructions continued. “Also, contact Sam and tell him to position his men at the main entrances of the basin. No one from Cole’s gang gets out and if Bella’s recon mission is complete, have her return immediately.”
“What if she hasn’t finished?” Mira asked.
“Then tell her to abandon it and return with whatever intel she has. Her new priority is sweeping the entire town and capturing every thug still hiding.”
There was a pause before Liam’s voice came back who was listening everything, tinged with confusion. “You really think there are more of them?”
Amira’s expression hardened. “Cole all but admitted it and think about it, Liam—he couldn’t control an entire town with just 40 or 50 people. There’s more of them scattered across the area.”
Liam let out a low breath, understanding the gravity of the situation. “Understood.”
“One more thing,” Amira added. “Once everyone is inside, barricade the mansion. If there’s going to be a counterattack, I want the advantage.”
“Roger that.” The comms went silent as Mira studied Amira’s face. “You’re really expecting a siege?”
Amira’s lips pressed into a thin line. “No but we have to be ready for any scenario even if they retaliate or flee.”
Mira nodded, her admiration for Amira growing. “Understood. I’ll make sure everything’s ready.”
