Chapter 580: The Swarm
Shinja may be done already and needed to recuperate but the Zombies weren’t just going to let him escape…
Three Runner Zombie Leaders chased after him.
They could tell that Shinja was fleeing but the latter was not afraid.
With a wave of his blade, he struck the Zombie’s arms that were trying to grab him…
Thud! Thud!
A couple of arms were severed as the Zombies growled in anger. They tried biting him but Shinja was too fast.
“You can’t catch me…” Shinja muttered as he plunged his swords into the zombie’s chest, piercing its heart.
The creature couldn’t even let out a cry before it collapsed to the ground.
Even if it was still alive, the defenders atop the wall could easily finish it off.
Shinja frowned as he turned his attention to the remaining two zombies… With just the two of them chasing him, he decided to just stop and eliminate them.
“Two more,” he muttered, his voice low and menacing. “Let’s make this quick.”
Shinja charged forward with his twin swords. He just wanted to end this and let the others handle the rest. At the very least, he wanted to wait for the Vampires to appear before joining the fight again.
The remaining Zombies, on the other hand, didn’t stop as they wanted to tear him apart!
However, Shinja simply used his Five Meter Jump Skill that propelled him high above the zombies.
Similar to the technique that he used before, he used his momentum and activated his Blade Storm Technique as he descended upon the creatures.
The first zombie didn’t stand a chance.
Shinja’s blades sliced through its neck, decapitating it almost immediately… The second zombie tried to grab him, but Shinja was already behind it, cutting off its neck…
However, the Zombie Leader was able to dodge his attack and only had a graze on its neck.
The creature collapsed to its knees, its massive frame shaking the ground. Shinja didn’t give it a chance to recover. With another swift strike on its head, he was able to plunge his swords into the zombie’s skull, ending its life.
Thud!
Just like that, the Zombie Leaders were finally eliminated.
‘That’s a bit too dangerous even for me… I should have at least two or three backups in the field.’ Shinja thought to himself. He couldn’t help but miss Layla at all.
Layla, with her Telekinesis, was probably one of the best partners that he ever had. After all, Layla’s ability to use flying daggers or multiple weapons at once was very convenient.
In any case, the battle continued as the defenders slowly whittled down the Zombie Horde. Now that the Zombie Leaders, Tyrant Zombies, and Giant Zombies have been eliminated, they should be able to clean this up in no time.
“Don’t get too comfortable…” Shinja reminded. “This isn’t over yet.”

During all this time, Statham, the Vampire Lord, stood atop a distant tree, covered by darkness.
However, his crimson cloak seemed to have gone deeper red as the death in the shelter continued to increase.
“He’s strong…”
He muttered as his red eyes were focused on the battlefield. He was taking in every detail of the chaos unfolding at the Eclipse Domain.

Although he was glad that the once-impenetrable outer wall was now a smoldering ruin, and the inner wall was under unending assault from the zombie horde, he was still sensing some threat inside.
After all, despite the destruction, the defenders were holding firm—thanks in no small part to the arrival of that Warlord, Shinja.
The Vampire Lord’s lips curled as he watched Shinja carve through the Giant Zombies and other Zombie Leaders with terrifying force.
He was like an unstoppable machine.
The Warlord’s movements were fast and he could certainly compete with some Level 80 Survivors he could remember that focused on agility.
However, it was only like that for a few moments. After the Warlord’s Bloodlust disappeared, Shinja’s speed became quite normal in Statham’s eyes.
Nonetheless, seeing that the twin swords were able to cut down even the largest of the undead with ease, he knew that they were most likely Epic or even Legendary Swords!
Statham’s eyes squinted as he wanted this guy to tire out soon.
“Shinja….” Statham muttered under his breath.
“Of course, Shane would leave someone like him behind.”
He doesn’t have much information about Shinja. Even after getting various information about him over the past few months, they only knew that he had a unique physique that was immune to poison aside from being great in sword arts.
Statham had hoped the zombie horde would be enough to overwhelm the Domain, but it seemed he had underestimated the defenders’ resilience.
The Vampire Lord’s gaze then shifted to the rest of the battlefield.
The zombie horde, which was once an unstoppable tide, was beginning to crumble.
The defenders’ traps, flamethrowers, and coordinated attacks had taken their toll.
The Giant Zombies were gone, and the remaining undead were being systematically cut down by the Eclipse Domain’s forces.
“Incredible force… Perhaps, only a few of my Knights will survive if we decide to continue to be on the front line.” Statham muttered as the territory that Shane had created was unlike any he had ever seen.
Even in the Vampire’s Rise Apocalypse, the defenses they had created before he switched to the vampire’s side were not as great as this.
It seemed that Shane had several powerful Survivor Talents that allowed him to build all of this.
“Let’s see…”
Statham’s mind raced as he weighed his options. He had hoped to let the zombies do most of the work, softening up the defenders before his vampires moved in for the kill. But now, with Shinja and other strong survivors turning the tide, he couldn’t afford to wait any longer.
“Lord Statham,” a voice interrupted his thoughts.
It was Raizen, his most trusted Vampire Knight. “The zombies are weakening. If we wait much longer, the defenders will regain control of the battlefield.”
Statham’s eyes narrowed as he considered Raizen’s words. The Vampire Knight was right. The longer they waited, the more time the defenders had to regroup and reinforce their defenses.
But attacking now would mean exposing his forces to the Domain’s remaining defenses—and to Shinja. He bet that Shinja was also preparing for their attack considering how he could sense the man always glancing in his direction.
The Vampire Lord’s gaze returned to the Warlord, who was now engaged with a swarm of Spitter Zombies after taking some rest.
Shinja’s blades were too sharp as they easily cut through the Zombies, no matter what tier they were.
Low-Tier, Mid-Tier, High-Tier, or even those Special-Tier Zombies could not survive from that sword.
“It must be a Legendary Sword… Damn that Shane… Is his success probability for upgrading items at 100%?” Statham muttered.
After all, with all the investigations that he had made, he believed that there were more than a dozen Legendary Items owned by their clan already.
‘Still, this should be a lot easier for us… Taking Shinja’s weapon is not a bad idea.’ Statham thought as he knew that Shane was probably already aware of the situation of his shelter.
With those Legendary Swords, he would be able to equip one of his finest Vampire Knights and could surely change the tide once they had to fight against Shane himself.
In any case, he believed that their time to attack was coming soon…
“Let him tire himself out. The Warlord is strong, but even he has his limits.”
Raizen nodded, understanding his lord’s plan.
“Shall we prepare the Blood Legion, then?”
Statham nodded. “Yes. We will be joining soon. But we won’t attack from the ground like mindless beasts. No, we’ll strike from above, where their defenses are weakest.”
Raizen felt excited at this. “As you command, my lord.”
After some time, Statham raised his hand, and a faint, crimson glow emanated from his palm.
The signal was subtle, but every vampire in the Blood Legion felt it.
One by one, they began to transform, their humanoid forms dissolved into swarms of bats.
Screechh~
Suddenly, the night sky darkened even more as thousands of winged creatures took to the air…
Statham watched with satisfaction as his forces gathered above the Eclipse Domain.
The defenders were too preoccupied with the remaining zombies to notice the shadowy cloud forming above them.
Even Shinja, for all his skill, seemed too busy cutting down the undead to see the true threat approaching.
The Vampire Lord’s smile widened as he noticed this.
“Let them think they’ve won.” He muttered.
“Let them believe they’ve survived the worst. And then, when they least expect it, we’ll descend upon them like a storm.”
Raizen also transformed into a massive bat, as he felt excited about this.
“Shall I lead the first wave, my lord?”
Statham shook his head. “No. I will lead this attack myself. It’s time I reminded these mortals why they fear the night.”
With that, Statham’s form dissolved into a cloud of bats, joining the rest of the Blood Legion in the sky.
