Chapter 644: Shane’s Loot
“I hope that was the last Zombie Lord… But it’s still too early… At this rate, we might have to face two or maybe even three more Zombie Lords.” Shane mused as he glanced in the direction of the Portal Hall.

Since the Chat System wasn’t working during the Zombie Wave Event, they had decided to use messengers when they were attacked by a Zombie Lord. That way, Shane could properly respond if needed.

After all, Zombie Lords are very unpredictable. Their abilities might be a bad match against their Talents or set of Skills.

‘No messenger… I guess the other shelters are lucky.’ Shane mused.

Of course, he knew that those shelters would also be attacked later on. With the current strength and number of their population, Shane wouldn’t doubt that if there are Shelter Rankings from the system, all of his four shelters would definitely be within the top 30.

He was that confident because the strength of the Zombie Wave depends on the strength and population of the shelter. He knew that all his shelters would be swarmed by Zombies like the previous three Zombie Waves.

In any case, Shane turned to the current Zombie Horde attacking them.

He then realized that there wasn’t an immediate threat since it was being handled by his defenders fairly well.

Because of that, Shane decided to quickly check the rewards he had obtained from killing the Zombie Lord and looting.

The Kill Reward had given him various rewards, one of which was the Platinum Treasure Chest.

Just by its appearance, one could see that it was larger than the Gold Treasure Chest.

Shane placed a hand on it, and the lock clicked open with an ethereal chime.

[ You have received a Right Emperor Gauntlet x1 ]

[ You have received a Tome of the Corrupted Seer x1 ]

[ You have received a Revival Injector x5 ]

[ You have received an Invincible Emblem x5 ]

[ You have received a Magic Power Core x5 ]

[ You have received a Skill Fusion Talisman x5 ]

[ You have received a Polymorphium Metal x50 ]

[ You have received a Spectral Moonstone x10 ]

[ All items have been transferred to your Inventory. ]

“Wow… This is a lot…” Shane commented as he saw the series of notifications in front of him.

[ Right Emperor Gauntlet ( Legendary ): The fury of the storm, bound to your fists.

Effects: +90 Strength, +100% Melee Attack Speed

Every 5th strike summons chain lightning ( 200% damage, 3-target bounce).

Passive: Storm’s Blessing – Reduces lightning-based damage taken by 50%. ]

“Cool… But the Gauntlet is a bit too bulky for me… It should be better for Chaloem or maybe one of the Super Soldiers to take this.” Shane muttered.

[ Tome of the Corrupted Seer ( Epic ): Knowledge is power, even when stolen from the abyss.

Effects: +30 Spirit, +100 Vitality, +15% Resistance to Mental Attacks.

Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".

Unlocks the skill [ Corruption Sight ] – Allows the user to detect hidden undead, traps, and weak points for 30 seconds ( Cooldown: 5 minutes ). ]

“Ahhh… I thought I could summon corrupted creatures with this.” Shane chuckled as he couldn’t help but recall Asad’s tome or grimoire.

In any case, the Corruption Sight was still quite an incredible item considering the vitality stat boost that it had.

After feeling satisfied, Shane proceeded to check the next item. There were five of these items, and Shane felt quite excited just by looking at their names.

[ Revival Injector ( Rare Consumable ): Death is merely a setback with this serum.

Effect: Upon receiving fatal damage, automatically revives the user at 50% HP ( One-time use per injector ).

Warning: Overuse may cause unexpected problems ( Max 1 per day ). ]

“Well…” Shane paused for a moment as he realized that he could actually inject it himself right now. The effect of the Injector would actually remain on his body until he received a Fatal Damage!

This was definitely an interesting item and if he ever decided to sell this in the Marketplace or in an auction, he’d definitely become rich!

He wasn’t doubting that at all.

However, he’d rather give the five injectors to those important people to him, like his sister.

As for himself, he already had something similar. It was called False Revival Talent, which he had looted before.

Anyway, Shane proceeded to check the Invincible Emblem.

[ Invincible Emblem ( Legendary Accessory ): The mark of a conqueror.

+35% Damage during nighttime or in Zombie Lord Territory Zones.

Active Skill: [ Invincible Cloak ] – Grants 3 seconds of invulnerability ( Cooldown: 10 minutes ) ]

“A three-second invincibility for 10 minutes cooldown… This is overpowered.” Shane muttered as he knew very well how he could exploit such a superpower during intense combat.

With this ability, he might be able to deal with Prov faster than before.

Then, the Magic Power Core was like a Power Core that Shane knew but it had more energy than before. To be exact, it had about 20 times more energy than the normal Power Cores.

After that, Shane merely glanced at five Skill Fusion Talisman, fifty Polymorphium Metal, and ten Spectral Moonstones.

Shane was already familiar with them. Since he already fused a lot of his Skills, he might use it as a reward for the top performers of this Zombie Wave.

In any case, Cloud was monitoring everyone’s performance in all shelters.

The polymorphium metal, on the other hand, would only be given to Silver, the Metal Slime.

Shane smiled as he returned everything to his inventory and took out the Blacklord’s Shield that he got as part of the kill reward.

It was heavy…

‘Hmmm…’ Shane observed Blacklord’s Shield, and it certainly had remnants of Prov’s dark energy. It was a Tower Shield with glowing crimson veins on it…

It was definitely a piece of equipment not for Shane’s style.

[ Blacklord’s Shield ( Legendary ): A relic born from the essence of a fallen tyrant.

Effects,: +500 Physical and Magical Defense

Passive: Corruption’s Grasp – Absorbs 30% of incoming magic or energy attacks, converting them into temporary HP ( Max: 15% of the user’s total health ).

Active Skill: Abyssal Parry – For 5 seconds, the shield can completely nullify one attack and reflect 300% of the damage back ( Cooldown: 2 minutes ). ]

[ Set Bonus ( If paired with Blacklord’s Helm ):

Unlocks [ Dark Fire Retribution ] – Blocking an attack has a 20% chance to summon a fire counterstrike. ]

“Ughh… Why is it too big?” Shane muttered as he couldn’t help but feel slightly disappointed. After all, the effects were too good.

Perhaps, if the shield was actually a buckler instead of a tower shield, he would really equip this one.

For now, however, this Tower Shield must go to their frontline defenders.

In any case, with these new tools, Shane felt quite satisfied despite the destruction or the damage that was done by the Zombie Lord.

After this brief check, Shane shifted his attention to the Zombie Lord’s loot itself.

Aside from the Reputation Points, Item Upgrade Crystals, Zombie Cores, and other common loot, Shane also obtained a set of equipment.

Shane actually considered using his Loot Keeper’s Timepiece, however, since there was still plenty of time left for this Zombie Wave, he decided to only use it at the strongest Zombie that he’d encounter at least 3 hours before the end of the Zombie Wave.

[ Corrupted Lord Mask x1, Corrupted Lord Skill Scroll x1, Corrupted Lord Mantle x1, Corrupted Lord Plate Armor x1, Corrupted Lord Gauntlets x1, Corrupted Lord Belt x1, Corrupted Lord Greaves x1, Corrupted Lord Boots x1 ]

Seeing that they were all corrupted, Shane decided to leave them be for now, as it might be dangerous to equip them.

He didn’t want another problem for now.

Then, Shane glanced at the battlefield. The defenders were holding, and there was nothing to worry about.

“Time to help…” Shane said as he also knew that the disappearance of the Warden Units had put more pressure on his defenders. Although he still had a few Wardens within the Shelter, he was not planning to send them out on the front line again.

They would stay inside the shelter to assist in case of a breach.

***

In the meantime, while Shane was doing all of this, Asad’s shelter was being pressured by the Zombie Wave.

Nonetheless, Asad’s Black Citadel was not unprepared.

Asad had been really careful and felt the approach of his first Zombie Lord…

His skeletal sentinels had soon lined the temporary walls and carried mystical bows or rifles.

When Krogh arrived with his army of undead, the earth trembled.

He was surrounded by a huge number of Stoneskin Zombies, Ironskin Zombies, and Bronzeskin Zombies!

It was such a powerful and tough lineup up and normal shelters would surely collapse once attacked by such a force!

However, despite seeing such a terrifying lineup so early in the event, Asad felt more confident in himself…

‘This is how strong I am… Being attacked by a special Zombie Lord so early…’ Asad thought with a grin on his face. Although it was certainly bad news to be attacked by Zombie Lord, he was also aware of what it implied…

It means that his force or his army was recognized by the system to be too strong and had to send a Zombie Lord to cut down his strength!
