Chapter 646: The New Genesis
Asad was soon filled with power…
Since he didn’t want more of his Undead Army to be destroyed by the Zombie Lord, he needed to join the front line and directly confront Krogh.
This time, Asad was soon covered with dark energy and moved like a phantom to face Krogh…
Thud…
Asad arrived in front of the Zombie Lord and used the Grimhold staff to release dozens of chained soul fragments!
“Pests!”
Krogh swung his claw and ignored the chained soul fragments… He wanted to quickly finish off Asad, but he raised a spectral barrier just in time, redirecting the force to the ground…
Then, Asad continued using spells that only a Necromancer could do. He first attacked with Soul Cursed Chains. This spell used up the soul fragments he had just released.
‘This should do it…’ He mused.
He already knew that this spell was effective against Zombie Lords since he had already used it before against their kind… He was just hoping that he had enough piercing damage since the defense of this Zombie Lord would definitely be higher than expected…
Just like that, a wave of deathly energy formed a corrupted chain that wrapped around the Zombie Lord’s body…
“Aaarrgghh!”
Krogh screamed as the chains pierced through his skin and flesh… Indeed, the Soul Cursed Chains attack not the flesh of the Zombie Lord but its soul or traces of life!
“Kill this thing!” Asad commanded his army. Since he had to concentrate on maintaining the chains that he had created, he needed the help of his army to deal damage to the Zombie Lord.
The Mummy Lords then made their move… They released a powerful ray of cursed energy into Krogh’s form.
The Skeleton Kings also ignored the various mid-tier and high-tier Zombies and started charging at the bound Zombie Lord…
Soon, they also pierced or crushed his limbs with their weapons…
Seeing that the Zombie Lord was finally heavily injured, Asad released his spell and chanted another ritual that he learned from the Grimoire. Although this wasn’t a Survivor Skill, Asad knew that it was better to use this spell.
After about six lines of incantation, he finally reached its end.
“…Let judgment fall not from the heavens,
But rise from the bones of the forgotten!”
Soon, a black sun, or perhaps a void, formed above the battlefield. It was constructed of cursed mana and deathly energy… It was the Grimoire’s ultimate ability that he could only use once a day.
It may seem too early to use this Spell but Asad knew about its side effect… After all, once the black sun absorbs the energy of the Zombie Lord, it will be transformed into the Grimoire and he could trigger some of its ability for later.
Indeed, with Krogh truly weakened by the previous combination attacks, he was barely able to struggle, and soon, his body erupted in streams of dark matter as the sun started absorbing his whole body… It was as if it was dragging every bit of its essence into the void!
It didn’t take that long before the Zombie Lord was finally defeated.
The rest of the Zombies were also eliminated and with that, the battlefield became quiet once again.
The Mummy Lords knelt. The Skeleton Kings lowered their weapons while the Dark Wraiths dissipated into mist, returning to their stations.
Asad couldn’t help but use his staff to stabilize himself due to exhaustion. After all, using the Grimoire’s ability took a lot of toll on his body than just using his set of Survivor Skills.
Well, he overused the Mana Crystals and the Grimoire’s Forbidden Arts to be exact.
However, he was still happy with this result.

Zombie Lord Krogh was defeated…
There might be several more hours for the Zombie Wave Event, but with the Grimoire fully recharged, he was no longer worried.
Even if something went wrong, Asad had prepared several escape routes…
One of these routes was leading to the Eclipse Domain where he could ask Shane for some assistance.
Of course, he had already informed Shane about this and the latter had actually agreed as long as he would pay the price.
“I hope I won’t have to do that though…” Asad muttered.
After all, if he decided to take shelter at Shane’s base, he would miss some quest rewards. He knew this very well since he was able to obtain some Loner Rewards during the previous Zombie Waves.
If he completed this without any assistance from other Survivors, he might be able to obtain another better Dark Magician Set or perhaps, a Grimoire much better than his current one.

Far from the smoking battlefield where Krogh had fallen, within a ruined cathedral, the Zombie Lords immediately learned what had happened with the spies they sent to observe the battle.
“Krogh barely lasted half an hour.”
Vespa, the Drowned Monarch, still looked unbothered by the death of the Zombie Lord in their Area. She knew that she was the strongest among them and it should be natural for them to die, considering how weak they were.
Ken the Skinner, on the other hand, couldn’t help but feel angry… He believed that they should have all worked together to kill the Necromancer.
Then there was Silas—or what remained of him. The true presence was the Parasite Lord, embedded deep within.
Silas’s skin occasionally swelled but it would soon turn back to normal as the Parasite Lord calmed its emotions…
“That fool… He failed to even use most of his power and just died like that.” Vespa commented.
“He was completely suppressed. The Necromancer knew that he’d lose if the battle lasted longer.” Ken muttered.
“No matter. Let’s continue to send Zombie Horde to that Necromancer. We bleed him dry. Horde after horde. Then we carve what’s left.”
Although he didn’t want to admit it, he was still cautious about the Black Sun or the Void that the Necromancer used. He wasn’t sure if he could survive that after all.
Silas then smiled faintly…
“That’s good. We do not march now. But we will prepare… I will send Insect Zombies to infest the surrounding lands… Let’s make sure he had no place to escape to.”
And so, the plan was made… They would exhaust the Necromancer’s undead army.
Perhaps they needed three or four hours for that, but it didn’t matter… They have to prioritize their safety for now.

In the meantime, as the Zombie Wave Event continued, the New Genesis Shelter was already facing its 7th Zombie Horde of the event.
There were already a lot of Warden Units that had been destroyed but still, the shelter stood strong. As a matter of fact, it seemed that the shelter was just continuously producing the Warden Units out of the factory.
The high stone and metal walls of the shelter were still not breached by the Zombies…
The Automated Turrets, Flamethrowers, Ballistae, and the Marksmen were still untouched.
This was Shane’s youngest Survivor Shelters… However, it could not be compared to others since it was an incredible fusion of advanced tech and magical reinforcement…
At this time, the Warden Units that were outside the shelter numbered about 200.
And overseeing it all, seated upon a throne of data cables and neural ports… was Arial.
To anyone walking into the Command Center, Arial looked to be asleep.
His eyes were closed, and his breathing was too slow.
But beneath the surface, through the neural spine interface, Arial’s mind was racing at inhuman speed.
He was synced into every turret, every barrier grid, and every motion sensor.
The feed flowed into his mind in fragments, and he assembled them into an unexplainable map of the entire battlefield.
Then, suddenly, Arial obtained information about the incoming Zombies.
‘Crypt Crawlers…’ Arial mused as he observed the movements of the spider-like Zombies.
There were only dozens at first, but then, they continued pouring out as several hundred long-limbed, shelled zombies with sharp limbs started rushing up the walls like ants.
Their shrieks triggered the barrier but Arial had already activated countermeasures seconds earlier.
He swiftly increased the level of the barrier.
“Barrier Grid: Level 2 Activation.”
This level was more volatile and it could be compared to a plasma barrier… It easily fried the first wave of crawlers mid-climb. They even ignored the Warden Units, who seemed to have been deactivated…
Apparently, Arial learned that as long as the Warden Units weren’t moving, they would actually be ignored by most of the Zombies. It seemed that they were only attracted to human blood and flesh for some reason.
However, because of that, he learned how to utilize it to conduct a surprise attack.
As the first wave of Crypt Crawler Zombies were killed, the others behind them continued advancing without any care… They even began spitting corrosive acid, hoping to destroy the barrier itself.
Arial then controlled the turrets to start with the suppression fire… Of course, the others must start as well.
“All defense units—now…”
Through a connected speaker node, Arial’s voice could be heard across the wall towers.
