Chapter 102: Royal Flush And Gambling Authority
Hearing the masked dealer’s offer, Kayden pondered for a while before nodding, “Let’s do it. I agree.”
A man must know when to go forward and when to back down.
But… the masked dealer offered too much!
Kayden trusted his luck so he wanted to take the risk.
If it was other players who did this, then they would be too greedy and idiotic. But if it was Kayden who accepted the offer, then it’s all according to plan.
Shirohige who was watching all of this didn’t disagree with Kayden and already had planned to just watch all of this play out.
After all, if he was replaced with Kayden, he wouldn’t accept the offer since he wasn’t certain that his skills in gambling were strong enough to bridge the advantage brought by luck.
In terms of skills, Shirohige was indeed better than Kayden in gambling. However, Cozy Vacation Life wasn’t truly a gambling game so his skills would not matter much if the game mechanism was designed to negate any sort of skills involved.
That’s why, Shirohige could only count on Kayden and hope that Kayden’s luck was strong enough to compensate for his lack of skills in gambling.
‘Kayden had already proven that his luck had defied the odds. He even won the Red Purification Pill despite recklessly all-in the chips he had. If he wasn’t lucky, he could have lost that gamble and I would have lost my soul.’
‘Fortunately, Kayden’s luck was better than I had expected so I can still hope that Kayden can win against the masked dealer. The gambling authority will be very useful in Cozy Vacation Life. If used well, it could even be used to take the anomalous abilities of those monsters and evil spirits.’
With those thoughts in mind, Shirohige decided to watch all of this play out as he sat on the chair but didn’t intend to participate in the game.
After Kayden agreed to play against the dealer, the masked dealer immediately created a clone of himself and that clone sat on the seat beside Kayden.
The rules of poker were simple. It could be searched on Toogle so just do it.
Fortunately, even if Kayden wasn’t skilled in gambling, he was still aware of the rules and objectives of Texas hold’em poker.
The masked dealer started shuffling the cards.
Afterward, the masked dealer dealt two cards to both Kayden and the masked clone.
Before picking up his two face-down cards on the table, Kayden immediately made a ritual in his mind and prayed, ‘Give this daddy an SSR! Let’s go for a royal flush!’
‘If my luck is bad, a straight flush is also fine. A four-of-a-kind with all Aces would also be acceptable.’
After doing some sort of ritual in his mind that Kayden believed could increase his luck, Kayden picked up the two cards he was dealt with.
The two cards were none other than an “ace of spades” and a “king of spades”.
‘Damn! My card is looking good. It already has the potential of a royal flush or at least a four-of-a-kind. A straight flush was also possible but it has lower chances than a royal flush considering the cards that I have.’
After checking his cards, Kayden didn’t need to call or raise since both he and the dealer had already “all-in” at the start.
Because of that, the dealer immediately placed “the flop” which was the first three community cards on the table.
They revealed none other than a “queen of spades”, “ace of hearts”, and a “jack of spades”.
Despite his chances of getting a royal flush becoming higher than ever, Kayden maintained a poker face and didn’t let the masked dealer nor the masked clone read what was on his mind.
However, whether they could read his face and expressions or not didn’t matter. That only mattered when the players were attempting to read another player’s expression on whether the card they had was high or low.
It also was easier to read if both players were still either calling or raising. Those players who folded early would mean that their cards were trash.
On the other hand, those who raised would either be bluffing it or had a really good card.
But in the masked clone and Kayden’s case, both of them had all-in at the start so it didn’t matter whether they could read each other’s expression or not.

Either way, the masked dealer would deal with all five community cards in succession without having to ask them to raise or call.
So, after placing “the flop”, the masked dealer placed the fourth community card which was “the turn”.
“The turn” was none other than a “four of clubs” card.
Although the club suit was black, it was not the same as a spade so it wasn’t the card that Kayden needed.
After the masked dealer dealt “the turn”, the masked dealer immediately placed the fifth community card which was “the river”.
“The river” was a “ten of spades” card.
Seeing that he achieved not only a flush but also a royal straight at the same time, Kayden was relieved that he got the royal flush combination that he wanted!
Since all five community cards were already dealt with, the masked dealer gestured for the masked clone and Kayden to reveal their cards.
The masked clone’s card was none other than an “ace of hearts” and a “king of clubs”.
In other words, the masked clone’s card was a “royal straight”.
However, a royal straight was quite weak as it couldn’t beat a flush, straight flush, four-of-a-kind, and full houses, let alone a royal flush.
Two players couldn’t have a royal flush at the same time so the masked clone could only get a royal straight.
Because of that, when Kayden revealed the cards he had, the masked dealer snapped his fingers and a ball of green-colored light appeared on his palm.
“Congratulations on winning the game with a royal flush! Here’s the Gambling Authority.”
